I've had this laptop for about 2 months and my free Norton subscription is done. Should I pay the $30 for the year renewal or get something else? I'd prefer not to pay anything but yea. Any suggestions?

I was of the same midset as yourself. My brother recommened me Bitdefender and after i downloaded the free trial i liked it so much i just paid £14.99 for the full year subscription. Its the first time ive ever paid for anti-virus but i really like it. It runs really smoothly in the background and the UI is very user friendly. Its up to yourself, some people will say paying aint worth it when you can get anti-virus for free. Try the free trial of bitdefender anti virus plus and after the month is up then you can make your mind up. No harm giving it a go. It has an awesome feature called safepay where you can open a private browser with a virtual keyboard for banking etc. All depends on your needs.

I'd recommend downloading Microsoft Security Essentials. It preforms custom scans on the folders that you desire to be thoroughly midst through and it can remove trojan horses and other types of viruses. It's free to no worries in regards to payment. Before investing into either Norton or something entirely different, I'd suggest looking into it and see how it works.

The best anti-virus program is common sense if you ask me. It's good to have a safety net just in case though.

Microsoft security esesntials is the best. So easy and quick (if you use quick-scan of course).
