Was just wondering what it was that triggered the collectors genes in us all. For me, I was at a local car boot sale one week, and came across a bundle of Hasbros, which I had as a kid, bought back loads of memories and it went from there. I think I have a great loose collection now and all stems from that, I didn't keep them from when I was a kid, I have 5 brothers, so to expect any toy to last 25 odd years is a no no! My first wrestling toy as a kid, was the WCW Galoob Ring, I was not amused when I opened that christmas morning, especially as I had specifically asked Father Christmas to bring me a Hasbro one! But I grew to love it, and in a way, prefer that ring now

Pretty much the same thing. I was walking through an antique mall and saw a set of 10 of them for $4 and they were all in great shape and had the accessories and everything. I had them as a kid and it brought back a lot of awesome memories. I went home and immediately jumped online and started to research and find out more about them and found out they were still available to get. Didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time. Its an obsession but its awesome. Now I am done with my loose collection and all I need are mail aways. I think I am going to slow down a bit though. Not many of mine need replaced and I am not going to collect MOC so I will have to open up another world of collecting haha.

Do you want to know what triggered our wrestling figure interest or what triggered our interest in collecting as a whole? I think there have already been a few threads about origins of wfigs collections.

For me, it's sort of just a habit. I didn't have a lot of friends growing up, but I had a LOT of toys and always took good care of them. Even displayed them on a bookshelf when I wasn't playing with them. So, I was always sort of a collector of various things growing up.
I actually just started to collected wrestling figures back in November. Been a wrestling fan my whole life and had various collections of wrestling toys throughout the years, but finally decided to get back into it again when I had an unexpected influx of cash by winning $500 on a scratch of lottery ticket my Mom got for me. Bank half that for a rainy day and used the other half to buy a bevy of figures. Nostalgia played a part (and plays a big part in my video game collection), but mostly it was just a love for wrestling and desire to have a little piece of that fandom sitting on my shelves like when I was a kid.

Fate. One random day in 2003 I'd looked out some of my old toys as my nephew was coming over. I decided to look them up on ebay and found some still on card. The very first one I bought as an adult was Roddy Piper on a GIG card, and from then on in I started collecting MOC with the aim to have them all on card.

I never really stopped collecting since 1990. Between 1994 and 2000 I just didn't see a 1 in the shops. then boom out come the internet.

Collecting is apparently in my genes as both my father and grandfather had their own obsessive collecting habits.
As far as wrestling figures go, I was only a casual collector of the pre-Mattel toy lines. It was the quality of the Mattel figures that turned me from a casual collector into one who stalks the toy aisles in stores and constantly checks on-line stores for pre-orders. If Jakks had kept the WWE license a few years back I doubt I would have any wrestling figures as I was starting to get hooked by the Marvel Legends figures. Instead, Mattel gets the license and I have hundreds of WWE figures and less than a dozen Marvel Legends figures.

I've just been collecting them since I was a kid trying to get all of the Hasbros as they came out.

I have been a wrestling fan and collector since i was a kid. I sold off my first collection when i was in high school. I never really felt happy until i started collecting wrestling items again. Now the only time i am really sad is when my wallet is empty

99% of my collection is from when i was a kid back in the early 90s and have kept them ever since, I have 100s of figures from all over ranges I.e jakks, the titantron figures that play music with the raw stage, wcw figures, but it was the hasbro figures which have always kepted a place in my heart and always will, I like to keep my eye out for a bargin, and the last 4 to complete my loose collection
