How do scholars verify the context of any document?
I ask in specificity to historians with religious documents,
The bible & it's many shelfmates in the religious section of your local bookstore declare various claims that are contradictory to each other, illogical, or simply incorrect.
This brings us to the core concept that must be understood before anyone claims anything from any book written by otherwise, unknown authors to be true or false.
Verification of context.
Some form of document or account that confirms the context of the writing to be metaphorical, literal, or some bizarre blend of the two with varying metaphysical concepts.
I'm attempting to deduce this from a scientific perspective. Devise a logical theory, then research like Hell to try & disprove it. I'm simply met with a few issues.
The key one being that the Bible teaches logic to be of no value, even though this is untrue.
It is possible to categorize all thought into two, overlapping genres. Valid logic & distorted logic.
Any time humans think about something, they're clamoring for a seemingly logical explanation, & then justification of said explanation.
Even when a religious person claims their views to be independent from logic, they are forced to explain their reasons of justification or lack of necessity for justification in a statement that can only be defined as an attempt at logic or "Pseudo/Distorted logic."
The idea that a thought process can be devoid of logic is quite true, but said process is not necessarily free from an attempt at logic or a logic explanation as to how this occurrence came about.
Example: Charles Manson leads murderous cult, convinced he is Christ incarnate." This occurrence is of course, the product of distorted logic, but the event itself is not without logical explanation. A charismatic individual tricked people into commiting horrifying, atrocities by convincing them that his lies were truth.
This explains the first of several contradictions found in various ancient documents, specifically the Christian scriptures.
This observation is generally met with a bellowing "You're taking it out of context!" Thus leading me to want to find verification of context.
So my questions are simple.
How does an individual verify the context of a document from an unknown author(s)?
What is the value of a book that demonizes basic human thinking?
And a paradox for kicks. Supernatural or miraculous events or occurrences which cannot be explain. If a hypothetical God created & knows everything, including how everything works or could possibly work, then how does said God perform supernatural or miraculous acts?
Is it still miraculous if it has an explanation, even if we don't posesses the explanation?
