A few examples of things I thought/misunderstood about Professional Wrestling when you were a kid.
I thought Triple H sang his entrance theme. I thought Ric Flair had magical powers since he was older, but equally better than most of the wrestlers working then. ECW One Night Stand 05 was the coolest show I'd ever seen. I watched on DVD in it's entirety over 10 times. I didn't understand Paul Heyman's Shoot Promo at all, but I thought his delivery was amazing & memorized it verbatim. I begged my parents to buy me an ECW hat at December to Dismember & a leather trench coat from Belk, just to pretend I was Paul.
Kurt Angle vs Michaels at WrestleMania was the greatest wrestling match of all time, but in my youthful stupidity I believed Batista vs Triple H from the same night wasn't far behind. I've had semi-bearded lovers that I'm less embarrassed of than that.
I thought of the documentary "The Unreal Story of Pro-Wrestling" as my bible. I watched it 30 times. No, seriously. 30.
I didn't "get" Bret Hart. His matches were over my head.
The first wrestler I absolutely detested was Edge because he screwed over Kane during The Gold Rush Tournament, which is how he became involved with Lita.
Kane, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Big Show, & Chris Benoit were my first favorites.
My first favorites that I learned of after they retired/died were Andre, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, Superstar Billy Graham, Harley Race, & Roddy Piper.
I have rarely been happier than when Road Warrior Animal joined Hiedenreich to win the secondary Tag-team Titles. I was so excited to watch them live at my first house show, I cried as I shouted "Doomsday Device!!!" when Animal lifted Johnny Nitro onto his shoulders.
Please share your favorite childhood wrestling related moments, misconceptions etc.

-I thought Tito Santana owned a barber shop. I had a WWE magazine with a picture of him sitting in a barbers chair.
-I didn't know that WWECW existed. It was on after my bedtime LOL.
-I thought Snitsky and Kane were the same person. They were both in Smackdown vs Raw 2008 and I couldn't tell which was which because they were both bald.

I remember back in the 80s, and being a youngster, i was obsessed with the belts. It was such a big deal to me when a title change happened. I would think 'man (insert wrestler here) must be so sad that he doesnt have that belt anymore' when someone had to drop a strap......cause ,you know, they ALL had meaning then. And i would think how awesome it would be if i could just buy a real WWF Championship (winged eagle of course) or the NWA/WCW World Heavyweight belt. Especially since all we had were cheap ,terribly inaccurate kids belts back then. Now if a kid wants a belt Mattel has them ready to go. Ironically, and sadly, i still do not own a replica wrestling belt yet. But , just like when i was 8, if i ever get the funds for them.......the first two I'd buy are winged eagle and WHC.....

I thought Raven was super cool. I thought the WWF was really over when WCW won at Invasion. I really liked Cena from the time he debuted. He just had something that made me like him, I even rooted for him over the Undertaker in 03. I thought the NWO killed the Rock. The first wrestler I remember hating was Triple H, but now I think he's brilliant. I used to rent old WWF tapes in 2000/01 and I absolutely loved Goldust and Vader.

I enjoy reading your stories, but I'm sad you haven't gotten your replica belts yet.

I thought Earthquake REALLY killed Damian.
I thought Andre pinned Hogan at WM III during the First Quarter. Ventura's commentary was that good.
I thought Orndorff and Hogan hitting the floor at the same time meant they would both be winners, not realising a draw and a restart would take place.
I'll think of others as they come to me...good work Phil!

I thought the Undertaker who debuted in 1990 was a completely different guy from the Undertaker who was wrestling in 1997.
