Monday Night Raw: May 19th, 2014 – O2 Arena in London, England
Following the weekly Raw intro video, the cameras cut straight to the jam packed and very loud crowd at the O2 Arena. In the middle of Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcoming the viewers at home to the show, a loud siren is heard. Suddenly, on the right side of the stage, an ambulance backs into the arena. It stops and everything goes silent until John Cena bursts out from the back and his music hits to a mixed reaction! He walks down to the ring and, while hyped up, doesn’t seem to have the extra flair that he normally does. When he enters the ring, he grabs a microphone and patiently waits for the dueling “Let’s go Cena”, “Cena sucks” chants to quiet down. As usual, he brings up how hot the crowd is tonight before directing the attention to Bray Wyatt. “Two weeks ago, not only did I beat Bray Wyatt, but I did something I promised myself I would never do and that was succumb to a monster. I’m not saying I had a monster inside of me, I’m saying that I fell prey to the monster that is Bray Wyatt himself. You see, he likes to get inside your head, crawl around in there and mess with it. I’m ashamed to admit that he messed with my mind and made me do things I never thought I would have to do to win a match. That’s the thing though isn’t it? In order to beat someone as sick and twisted as Bray Wyatt, I have to get a little sick and twisted myself. I had to launch those steel stairs at him and take him down. I saw the looks on the faces of those kids in the crowd and I knew that I had done something terrible. Then, I come out here to address all of you and the Wyatts send me to the hospital. I am back tonight for two reasons. One, is to apologize to all of you for allowing Bray Wyatt to get in my head and the other is to challenge Bray for one more match at Payback!” The crowd pops for this before the Wyatt signature hits the screen. Bray Wyatt is sitting in his rocking chair atop the stage, flanked as always by Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. “It’s good to have you back John, we’ve certainly missed you. While I am happy to see you have made a full recovery, the error of your words disappoint me. You see, I have made it clear that while I am a monster, I am also a hero to these people. In your absence they have found solace and comfort in me! No longer do people need ‘hustle, loyalty and respect’ to get through their day. They simply follow the buzzards like you should John. Don’t apologize for Extreme Rules son, you were indeed the last man standing weren’t you? You did your job, you slayed me! And yet, here I am, alive and kicking while you were in the hospital. I exposed you for what you truly are John, so why oh why, would I ever need to face you again?” John Cena is taken aback by Bray’s reluctance to compete. “Because I’m standing here, man to man and calling your ass out. You and I, at Payback. No pinfalls, no submissions, no disqualifications. You put me away in an ambulance and I need to return the favor” Bray Wyatt now laughs atop the stage. “That sounds like a grave mistake John. Do you not realize that you cannot beat me? Even in defeat, I still come out on top. But if you wanna test me again, then we will dance once more. There are few stragglers left but after Payback, I’ll have the whole Cenation…in my hands…I’ll have the whole Cenation…in my hands.” The fans in London sing along with the eerie Bray Wyatt as John Cena looks around, maybe rethinking his challenge.
Returning, a video package airs chronicling the road to tonight’s Divas Championship match. Clips of Paige’s dominant run through NXT and to the NXT Women’s Championship are shown, before we see highlights of AJ Lee winning the Divas Championship and defending for the better part of the past year. Paige’s debut, AJ’s win over her at Extreme Rules and the challenge laid down on Main Event a few weeks back are also shown, before we see the below graphic hyping that huge match tonight. BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. CESARO; With tonight’s show being in England, Bad News Barrett receives a very favorable reaction. Cesaro is well liked as well though, leading to a decent split in the crowd. Once again, the ankle of Cesaro comes into play as it continues to hinder his performance since Jack Swagger targeted it last week. Bad News Barrett goes right for it and works on it, which is different from his usual plan of attack. Both guys hit each other very hard throughout, to the point where Barrett gets a busted lip. Cesaro strikes with an incredibly impressive popup uppercut, as it seems like he is near victory. However, as he goes for the Neutralizer, Barrett backdrops out of it. He then turns the elbow pad inside and connects on a brutal Bull Hammer and scores the pinfall. Bad News Barrett defeats Cesaro! The WWE Universe in England actually cheers loudly for Bad News Barrett as he just pinned Cesaro. He gets the crowd to clap along with him and chant “Bad News”. The roll of Bad News Barret continues as he has now defeated Kofi Kingston, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Sin Cara and Cesaro in succession. “Guys, you have to feel for Cesaro, who was seemingly red hot after splitting from the Real Americans but since the ankle injury, he hasn’t been able to gain any traction” says Michael Cole.
Returning, a recap is shown of the attacks that Evolution has laid on the Shield. Seven nights ago, Seth Rollins faced Batista and suffered a loss, leading Roman Reigns to challenge Triple H. On Smackdown, Triple H was goaded into accepting. Later in the show, Rollins was found laid out and Dean Ambrose was completely taken out by Batista and Randy Orton with Reigns barred from the building. Tonight, we will see Roman Reigns vs. Triple H, and unfortunately for Roman, Dean and Seth are not in the arena tonight. THE BROTHERHOOD VS. ERICK ROWAN AND LUKE HARPER; For the second time tonight, we see the Wyatt Family. We have two tag teams doing their best to earn the number one contenders spot at the Usos. In the eyes of many viewers, the Wyatts are in line to be the top contenders because while teams have been trading wins and losses lately, the Wyatts have yet to lose since Extreme Rules. Here they bring their usual hard hitting style as Cody Rhodes gets tossed around. He eventually connects on a picture perfect moonsault and tags in his older brother. Goldust comes in hot but the Wyatts overwhelm him. A blind tag from Cody allows him to sneak in and pulls Rowan into a small package and surprise everyone with the victory. The Brotherhood defeats Erick Rowan and Luke Harper!Cody Rhodes and Goldust quickly get out of dodge as Luke Harper runs in to try and get them. The crowd cheers as Harper and Rowan have now joined the other tag teams in the division as they take a loss. It looked like they were nearing a title shot but it is once again completely unclear.
A graphic appears with the news that Total Divas, nearing its Season Finale, has now been officially renewed for a third season! BIG E VS. FANDANGO; To the surprise of the viewers, Fandango is out with Layla instead of Summer Rae. Michael Cole informs us that over the week, Fandango dumped Summer via Twitter and has chosen Layla as his new dance partner. Also of note, is the appearance of the Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus, joining the commentary team. Big E focuses on him a bit, allowing Fandango to get in some offense. Let’s not forget that Big E is coming off of a huge win over Randy Orton last week, so even with the distractions and Fandango having a new dance partner, he is able to plant him with the Big Ending to claim the win. Big E defeats Fandango!
Over on commentary, Sheamus can be heard saying that Big E still doesn’t impress him. ”It’s going to take a lot more to beat me at Payback. I’ve already proven that I can beat Big E, he hasn’t shown me a damn thing” says the Celtic Warrior. Big E points at Sheamus at ringside, who just responds by raising the Intercontinental Title high in the air. Big E wants the title back in the worst way.
When Raw return, the music of one of the principle owners of the WWE plays as Stephanie McMahon smugly walks down to the ring. She gets ready to speak when she’s in the ring but the fans just continue to boo her nonstop. When she is finally able to talk, she directs her attention to Daniel Bryan. “Daniel Bryan has bitten off than he can chew in Kane. Not only has he been left lying for the past few weeks, but someone of his stature just simply cannot compete with the Demon Kane. I mean, look at his poor brand new wife Brie Bella. Kane nearly got to her a few weeks ago. This would never have happened if Bryan would just get it through his thick head that he is just a B+ player. Daniel even had to keep Brie over in the States, to be as far away from Kane as psychically possible.” She then says that Bryan should have done the same thing because she fears for his wellbeing. This brings out Daniel Bryan to a monster ovation from the fans in London. He enters the ring and is actually smiling. “You know Stephanie, I haven’t smiled in weeks thanks to Kane but the fact that you are trying to act like my health means something to you is just laughable.” Stephanie gives an annoyed look and says that in her position of power, the health of her World Champion matters a great deal. Bryan responds, “My health was of no concern to you when you put me in handicap matches or when you would stack the odds against me week in and week out. You say that you worry that I supposedly cannot handle Kane but I will put that big red bastard down at Payback.” Stephanie goes to say something but pyro explodes as Kane begins to walk to the ring. Bryan throws his titles down and meets Kane with a big suicide dive! The crowd chants “Yes!” at the top of their lungs as Bryan continues to pound away with right hands until Stephanie calls for security to separate them. “Where was Stephanie calling for security the past few weeks when Kane was attacking Bryan?” asks Michael Cole. They’re able to break this up but the fans, as well as Daniel Bryan and Kane, are clearly clamoring for more. BO DALLAS VS. DARREN YOUNG; Here we have the long awaited debut of Bo Dallas. He comes out to inspirational music, drenched in water and smiling. Darren Young is not sure what to make of Bo, but once the bell sounds, Dallas is surprisingly aggressive. Michael Cole mentions that Bo Dallas wants the fans to Bo-lieve because it will bring them joy and success. Dallas is interesting as he comes off on the better end of an exchange, only to roll out of the ring and celebrate like he just won. Young brings him back in the hard way, but Dallas comes back with a running bulldog. He then applies a bow and arrow like submission that JBL informs us is known as the “Bo and Arrow”. As Young struggles, Bo screams “DON’T GIVE UP, YOU CAN DO IT!” Young has no choice though but to tap out. Bo Dallas defeats Darren Young!
A mixed reaction, but mostly boos are heard for Bo Dallas. He looks disappointed in Darren Young but snaps out of it, with his mouth turning into a big grin. He rolls out of the ring and does a victory lap, only stopping to grab a microphone. He re-enters the ring, “Darren, I’m sorry that you suffered a loss tonight. When I put you in the Bo and Arrow, I Bo-lieved that you would refuse to tap out. I’m sad to say that you let me down.” He turns to the fans now, smiling again, “But you were all great. You all Bo-lieved in not only me, but in Darren too.” He gives them a thumbs up and reminds them to Bo-lieve.
Returning, Renee Young is standing by with Roman Reigns. She asks him about his feelings heading into battle without his brothers tonight. Roman replies, saying that he’s going in with the same mentality as always. “Dean, Seth and I have always had an “Us vs. All” mindset so I’m going in thinking the same way I always do. The only difference, is that I’ll have to give out a few more spears tonight to make up for them not being able to be here. Triple H…I promised you that I was going to beat you like a bitch and that’s gonna happen, with or without the rest of the Shield here. Believe that.”
A graphic appears to tell us what the most watched programs on the WWE Network were for the past week. Main Event, Extreme Rules, Legends House and NXT top the list. Back to the ring, where Lana and Alexander Rusev stand, basking in the heat from the fans in London. Lana allows them to cool off before talking, saying that the Alexander Rusev Invitational is a smashing success. “Last week, that fossil Jim Duggan had the nerve to try and test the Super Athlete. We all saw what happened.” Lana directs us to the Titantron, where footage is shown of Jim Duggan falling victim to the Accolade. Lana laughs at his effort, continuing. “Jim Duggan couldn’t do it for America, the country he loves so dearly. Is there anyone from this pathetic country with the guts to try it themselves?” Nothing happens for a few seconds, causing Lana to laugh again until a familiar theme hit as William Regal strolls to the stage to a thunderous pop from his home country. The crowd in the O2 Arena are beside themselves as Regal has a microphone. “You listen here sunshine, you are one talented SOB but when that woman of yours mouths off about my home country, you damn well better believe I’m going to come out here and defend it.” That gets an even bigger reaction as Regal heads to the ring to take on the challenge. THE ALEXANDER RUSEV INVITATIONAL: ALEXANDER RUSEV VS. WILLIAM REGAL; As soon as the bell rings it is William Regal that charges in, surprising Alexander Rusev. He is used to being the aggressor and Regal turning the tables on him catches him off guard. Regal gets in some of his signature vicious shots and even connects on the knee trembler. The fans in London are pretty much losing their minds as the clock reaches three minutes for the first time in this challenge. “My god King, could William Regal actually do this?” asks Michael Cole. Unfortunately, Rusev regroups and hits a big superkick. He then nails the Bulplex and pins Regal. Alexander Rusev defeats William Regal!Lana enters the ring as she and Alexander Rusev look up at the clock on screen, showing that the match nearly went four minutes, meaning Regal has come closer than anyone. Lana looks a bit worried but when Rusev turns to look at her, she changes expression and applauds him. Rusev celebrates his win as the Bulgarian Brute is once again victorious!
After the commercial break, Michael Cole uses the time to hype up NXT TakeOver, which is scheduled to air live on the WWE Network in just ten nights! “Back in February, NXT ArRival proved to be an incredible show and the future of the WWE looks to put on another standout performance.” A video package is shown to promote the broadcast before we are told that next week, right here on Raw, we will see an NXT Showcase match, just days before TakeOver. Once again, Renee Young is standing by, but this time she’s with the WWE Divas Champion, AJ Lee and Tamina Snuka. She asks AJ if she has any regrets on the challenge she laid down to Paige. AJ scoffs, saying that she regrets nothing. “I pride myself on holding this title and how can I justify that pride if I regret issuing a challenge. I have faced every Diva in the WWE, especially those ‘Total Divas’ and beaten them all. Paige is different though and I like that. I wanted this in the division the whole time. Don’t be mistaken though, none of this means that I am ready to give up the throne. Tonight, I pin Paige or I make her tap out because I’m the best Diva in the world.” She turns to Tamina and tells her that she’s doing this alone tonight. Tamina protests but it is to no avail.
Backstage, Triple H is shown warming up for the main event, with Batista, Randy Orton and Sheamus also in the room. Batista is right in Triple H’s ear, spouting off the things that Roman Reigns has said about Evolution and Triple H in recent weeks. It seems to be pumping Triple H up and he turns to Batista. “Tonight, Roman Reigns isn’t getting the COO of the company. He’s getting the Cerebral Assassin. The guy that led Evolution over ten years ago. I’m holding nothing back. I’m going to make sure you all have front row seats to this massacre out there.” The Authority all give a slight smile or chuckle as things are not looking good for Roman Reigns. WWE DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP: AJ LEE (C) VS. PAIGE; The reaction for Paige in her home country could only be described as deafening. When they lock up, Paige shoves AJ to the mat and screams at the top of her lungs to another huge pop from the crowd. AJ can be seen smirking at this, knowing this would be the reaction tonight. They play off their match at Extreme Rules, countering each other’s early offense since they know it better now. Paige tries to leap from the apron for a hurricanrana again but AJ grabs onto the post, leaving Paige to just crash to the floor. She rolls the challenger inside for a near fall. AJ climbs to the top and leaps off for a cross body but Paige rolls through and shows off impressive strength by getting to her feet with AJ. She hits the Paige Turner but AJ manages to get a shoulder up! Paige and the fans are in disbelief, but she wisely keeps going, trying the PTO. AJ kicks her off and hits the ropes, applying the Black Widow. AJ shouts “TAP” at the top of her lungs, but Paige refuses. She slips her arm free and is able to counter into the RamPaige! Paige covers AJ for the 1-2-3! Paige defeats AJ Lee to win the WWE Divas Championship!Just like when she made her entrance, the crowd at the O2 Arena erupts as Paige is announced as the new WWE Divas Champion. She is on her knees as the referee hands her the belt and there are tears in her eyes as she clutches it tightly. “Paige has done it! Paige has ended AJ Lee’s record 337 day reign as Divas Champion!” exclaims Michael Cole. Paige celebrates with the belt as AJ Lee gets to her feet. The girls stare across the ring at each other and AJ simply offers a handshake. Paige accepts and they exchange words the cameras are unable to pick up. After AJ exits, Paige rolls outside and hugs her mother, who is seated in the front row.
Returning, we see a recap of the emotional moment that we just witnessed, where Paige captured the Divas Championship in front of her mom and home country. KOFI KINGSTON AND ROB VAN DAM VS. THE UNTION JACKS; For those that don’t remember, the Union Jacks are 3MB but they are decked out in full England related gear. That gives them a pop from the fans they normally would not receive and even though they were cheered, Rob Van Dam and Kofi Kingston are still the favorites. The newest team in the division ran into a roadblock this past Friday when they suffered their first loss at the hands of Rybaxel. Here, Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater put up a better fight than some expected, but they have picked up recent wins on Main Event. A Five Star Frog Splash on Slater wraps this up. Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam defeat the Union Jacks!Kofi Kingston hops into the ring and high fives Rob Van Dam. The high flying due are now back on the winning track. As they celebrate, Michael Cole brings us some news. “Folks, I am just getting word that tomorrow night on Main Event, exclusively on the WWE Network, there will be an official decision made regarding the status of the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles.”
Returning, the above graphic is shown telling us about a big match signed for Main Event tomorrow night. On top of the announcement regarding the Tag Team Titles, Bad News Barrett will be taking on Dolph Ziggler in a match to determine the official Number One Contender for the WWE United States Championship! NON-TITLE MATCH: CHRISTIAN VS. SANTINO MARELLA; Christian comes to the ring with an unhappy look on his face and stops by the commentary table. He can be heard shouting that the match for tomorrow night isn’t fair. He seems so distracted by the news that he nearly gets rolled up within seconds by Santino Marella. Jerry Lawler reminds us that Santino himself is a former United States Champion and should not be taken lightly. Christian manages to refocus after Santino gets in some near falls and he puts down the former multi-time champion with the Killswitch. Christian defeats Santino Marella! The United States Champion snatches his title from the official and hoists it high in the air. He still doesn’t look pleased with the news that he’ll have another new number one contender after tomorrow night on Main Event. No matter what happens, Christian has one very tough battle ahead of him.
A graphic appears on screen to inform us that next week, right here on Raw, two time Hall of Famer the “Nature Boy” will be in attendance! There is no word on what exactly he will be doing, but the 16 time World Champion is always welcome. ROMAN REIGNS VS TRPLE H; The tension in the air is palpable and there seems to be a big fight feel in the atmosphere. The Game and Roman Reigns come face to face in the middle of the ring, while the Authority sits at ringside. Triple H brings a savvy veteran instinct as he outworks Reigns at every turn, even smacking him in the back of head. Reigns does well to make sure he doesn’t get frustrated, which in turn, frustrates Hunter. He begins to make slight mistakes and Roman takes advantage with some of his high octane offense. Reigns connects on the Superman punch and punches the mat in anticipation for the spear. Sheamus hops up on the apron, only to be hit with a Superman punch too! He quickly turns and nails Triple H with the spear! He covers, but Randy Orton is in the ring and levels him, causing the official to call the bell. Roman Reigns defeats Triple H via disqualification! The assault continues as Randy Orton and Batista both put the boots to Roman Reigns. Sheamus enters the ring and joins in, while Triple H directs traffic from his rear in the corner. Batista and Orton hold Reigns up for Sheamus to wipe him out with a vicious Brogue Kick. “There is nobody here to help Roman Reigns. This is what happens when you mess with the Authority” says John Bradshaw Layfield. This isn’t over though as Orton plants him with an RKO and Triple H goes outside. He reaches under the ring and pulls out his trusty sledgehammer to a reaction of gasps from the fans. The Authority hold up Reigns’ limp body as Triple H whacks him with the sledgehammer in the face. Roman Reigns is completely out cold as the Authority high five each other. Sheamus stops to tell Triple H something in his ear, which causes a huge grin to build on Triple H’s face. Sheamus taps him on the back and exits, leaving it to just be Evolution and Reigns’ fallen body. Triple H gives two thumbs up before he and Orton lift Reigns again. They place him up on Batista’s shoulders and drop him with the Shield’s signature Triple Powerbomb. With Reigns out cold and Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins also completely taken out, it’s clear the Evolution hold the advantage with just thirteen nights until Payback.

Excellent opening promo to kick off Raw. You captured both Cena and Wyatt's characters well with their promos and I liked the whole Cenation shtick at the end. It's definitely something that the UK crowd would chant along with so I could picture that happening. Barrett going over in England is fine, I suppose. I'm assuming that you have plans for Cesaro kind of going on a losing streak. CAN REIGNS DO THE IMPOSSIBLE?! Quite surprised to see The Brotherhood go over The Wyatt's but it totally makes sense with where you're headed with the tag division as a whole. Can definitely see a turmoil of sorts happening, like I said in my last reply. Rybaxel ftw! I like the small notes you have in shows, like Total Divas being renewed, most watched on the Network, etc. It's a nice touch. Poor Fandango. Nice segment with Stephanie/Bryan/Kane. I liked how you had Stephanie yell for security to split them up yet Kane has been allowed to continuously attack Bryan for weeks now. It really reiterated how The Authority aren't running a fair ship. Yeah, Bo was never going to lose his debut. The part about him telling Young not to give up made me laugh. I like that he has a submission finisher as opposed to the Bo-dog. REGAL! Obviously Alexander Rusev was never going to lose to Regal here but it was fun to see him make an appearance in his home country. I like how you held off on Paige winning the Diva's Championship until Raw was in London. Quite surprised to see AJ shake her hand post-match. I wouldn't be bothered if AJ took a backseat from this point on and allow other Diva's to step up since it's hard to book AJ given she is/was pretty much the Cena of the Diva's. I marked out for 3MB. Decent win for Christian over Santino. I can see Barrett/Ziggler tomorrow on Main Event going to a No Contest or along those lines, leading to a triple threat at Payback for Christian's title. Interested to see why Flair's back next week! Wow, crazy way to close Raw. I actually thought Reigns would have gone over Triple H here but the ending worked regardless. Nice touch having them do The Shield's signature Powerbomb move. Overall, solid stuff as always, Kev. Payback has so much potential.

Opening promo was dope. Felt like I was reading something that actually happened. Good to see my m8 Wade Barrett get the win. It made sense, since we are in England this week. ROMAN VS THE GAME MAGGLE! I LOVE IT! Main event should be sick. The Brotherhood going over Harper and Rowan was kind of surprising, but I can see how it's gonna probably help in the long run. I love how you're pushing Big E. It feels like his IC Title run did a couple of years back. Bryan rekt Kane! Good promo. Bo-Bo getting the win on his debut was best for business. Bo-&-Arrow, eh? Wonder where you got that name? HE'S A MAN! Regal was definitely the right person to take the challenge this week. That sounds like something he would say. I was pulling for the boy Regal, but he fell victim to Rusev. Kinda bummed about that, but it was for the best in terms of building up Rusev as a dominant character. Can't wait to see what NXT holds. You're doing great things with the Divas division. Decent segment with The Game. Fantastic Divas match. I was honestly a little surprised to see Paige get the strap, but honestly, I love it. Might I add, the team of RVD and Kofi is badass. Nice to see them get the win, too. I honestly thought dat ***** Santino was gonna get the win, and I was ready to mark out so hard, but, again, the squash made sense. WOOOO! Can't wait to see what happens with Flair. DQ win for Reigns builds the feud up further and makes you feel their disdain for each other, and the brawl only adds to the animosity. Great stuff Kev. Keep it up.

Raw feels like a big show in the UK with a lot going on. Show was a good read. Cena/Wyatt kicked things of well setting the stage for ambulance match, not the biggest fan of the match style but whatev's
I loved the fact you pointed out who Barrett has beat recently. That works for me and builds Barrett up. In the out world of diaries win and loses matter I feel. Great point!
Hopefully Sheamus will be done with Big E soon enough.
Regal answering the open challenge again great simple booking decision helps both men especially Rusev.
Paige winning the title not to much to say would have been a cool moment.
Finally the Main Event you did a job making this feel like a Main Event throughout the show and while a dq finish is a little cheap this is only the beginning of the story.
Really enjoyed this Raw, good work mate!

Alright, Raw in England MAYTE! John Cena starting things off is cool and he apparently wants one more math... and Bray Wyatt's movement continues through London and we got ourselves an Ambulance Match set for Payback. Should be a doozy. We get a European fist fight with Bad News Barrett beating Cesaro. Cool for Barrett, sucks for Cesaro. Even though he got some strong fight in. The Authority is still going HAM to keep The Shield seperated during their business. Dinks. The Brotherhood defeat Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. The title scene is unclear, of course, and I still think we'll get a tag turmoil at Payback. Next up, Big E beats Fandango as he should. Nothing too major here, a bit of a cool down for the feud before the final week I presume. What a royal bitch Stephanie McMahon is, not even calling for security. Bo Dallas gets his debut here and he beats Darren Young. I BO-LIEVE IN DARREN YOUNG. Roman Reigns has a microphone, get it away! NOW! PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN! Lana and Rusev are out for the Rusev Invitational and out comes William Regal! Cool surprise with Regal but he was never going to win. AJ Lee versus Paige for the Diva's Championship and, as presumed, Paige wins it! Paige wins it, Maggle! She's the Diva's Champion, Maggle! Can you believe it, Maggle!? I believe it. Hell, I Bo-lieve it. Good moment for the UK Raw. Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam beat 3MB Untion Jacks. Meh, nothing special, just more tag promotion. Christian beats Santino Marella and it is nothing mega, just a win for the United States Champion. Barrett vs Ziggler on Main Event gives that a lot of promotion, though. I see a faulty ending with a triple threat happening. Finally, we have ourselves a major main event but, of course, The Authority/Evolution take advantage of their own situation and completely run through Roman Reigns. Bastards. A pretty good show overall, got some good stuff going for Payback.

Going to try and get this out quickly before my class starts. Things have been going very smoothly since Extreme Rules. Plenty that I loved from the UK Raw. One of them, obviously, being Paige's becoming of Divas Champion. Fantastic decision to have the title change happen in her home country, although I do think it would have been interesting to see AJ Lee reach the one-year mark. LOVED William Regal accepting Alexander Rusev's challenge. Would have gotten a massive response from the audience. Having Roman Reigns and Triple H compete against each other on television, even with the disqualification finish, was huge. It made for a great scenario, though, with Evolution taking out The Shield. I presume that Roman, Dean and Seth will be getting their win at Payback. The card for the event is looking really solid overall on top of the previously mention Shield/Evolution match. Daniel Bryan versus Kane as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship program is something that I'm actually in favor of with their history in Team Hell No. It's clear that Bryan will be retaining, but I still look forward to their encounter. A bit meh on John Cena and Bray Wyatt competing in an Ambulance match. Seems like the kind of scenario that WWE would book to give Bray an easy victory over Cena, but I have faith that you'll make it work. Sheamus and Big E's Intercontinental Title story has been enjoyable. Definitely see Sheamus retaining at Payback. Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger one-on-one, something that SHOULD HAVE happened in real life on Pay-Per-View. Cesaro is definitely getting the win, but I'd like to see both former Real Americans maintain momentum. Fantastic job overall, Kev. You've been handling the diary very well on your own.

WWE Main Event: May 20th, 2014 – O2 Arena in London, England
The first thing seen on Main Event tonight, after the weekly opening video, is pyro blasting off as the crowd in London continues to be red hot. Two straight nights in the same venue and they haven’t calmed down one bit. Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton welcome everyone to the broadcast tonight before sending it up to Renee Young in the ring. Renee Young takes over and brings out her guests for this interview, the WWE Tag Team Champions, the Usos! The Usos make their way to the ring to a big ovation from the London fans who didn’t get to see them on Raw last night. After they do their signature entrance, they enter the ring and Renee welcomes them. She speaks, “You guys have held the WWE Tag Team Titles since early March. After sending back the challenge of the Real Americans, the WWE has been looking for new number one contenders, but none of the teams have pulled ahead of the pack and all seem deserving. Now last night on Raw, it was announced that we’d have an official decision made tonight.” Jimmy Uso chimes in, saying that it was always their dream to be the Tag Team Champions and whatever the decision is, they’ll be glad to defend them. Renee Young directs our attention to the Titantron where the below graphic appears, announcing that at Payback, there will be a Tag Team Turmoil match. “Wow. So at Payback, Los Matadores, 3MB, Cody Rhodes and Goldust, Rybaxel, the Wyatt Family and the new team of Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam will compete in a Tag Team Turmoil match with the winner receiving a Tag Team Title shot! The Usos are okay with the news as Jey claims that the titles aren’t going anywhere.
Backstage, R-Truth is walking around in the Sherlock Holmes outfit that he’s made famous in past years. He has a magnifying glass and says that he is going to solve a mystery tonight. “What mystery am I solving you ask? That’s the thing. It’s a mystery.” Xavier Woods comes into the shot, looking extremely confused at his partner. “Dude, what are you doing? They just announced the Tag Team Turmoil teams and we didn’t make the cut.” Truth turns serious, then quickly goes back to looking through the magnifying glass. “I guess we got our mystery. I’ll find out exactly why we didn’t get in Xavier.” He heads off while Xavier Woods is left looking dissatisfied.
Returning, a recap is shown of John Cena’s return to Raw last night. It was the first time we saw him over two weeks and he laid down one more challenge to Bray Wyatt, asking for an Ambulance Match. Bray accepted and that will happen in less than two weeks at Payback. ERICK ROWAN AND LUKE HARPER VS. JUSTIN GABRIEL AND TYSON KIDD; With the news that they are competing in the Tag Team Turmoil match at Payback, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan come out aggressively. Even though they were chosen, their loss to Cody Rhodes and Goldust has to be bothering them. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel excite the crowd with their fast paced and high octane offense, even score some near falls that seem to anger their larger opponents. The finish comes as Kidd kicks Harper in the gut, before stepping onto the apron. He goes to springboard in, but is met with a brutal spinning clothesline. Harper covers and it’s enough to keep Kidd down. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper defeat Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd!A mixed reaction comes over the WWE Universe as Luke Harper and Erick Rowan pick up the victory. They exit the ring, without much emotion shown on their faces. “Even with the loss to Cody Rhodes and Goldust last night, you have to believe that the Wyatts are one of the favorites at Payback!” says Byron Saxton!
A recap from Raw last night airs, showing clips of Roman Reigns’ battle with Triple H. We see how Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were taken out on last week’s Smackdown, leaving Reigns to go into battle alone. He managed to have the win in hand, but the Authority came into play causing a disqualification. They would decimate Reigns with a triple powerbomb and pose over him. “Folks, we have breaking news. The Shield is back this Friday night on Smackdown and they promise to address Evolution!” says Tom Phillips.
We are shown a promo for the upcoming two part Season Finale of Total Divas. Not only is that sure to be drama filled, but we also got word that Total Divas has been renewed for a third season! NAOMI VS. NATALYA; Two of the stars of Total Divas lock horns here. In a show of respect, both girls shake hands before the bell. Commentary spends most of the bout promoting Total Divas, but they do mention Naomi’s win over Layla on Smackdown this past Friday. She shows off her athleticism throughout, though not to be outdone, Natalya shows off too and they have a nice little standoff. Both girls get in their trademark stuff to the crowd’s appreciation. Naomi goes for the Rear End but Natalya ducks and sweeps her legs up for the Sharpshooter. She gets it locked on and Naomi has no other choice but to submit. Natalya defeats Naomi! As Natalya celebrates her victory, we are taken to a video recap of the incredible moment last night where Paige was able to win the Divas Title in her home country from AJ Lee. The win made Paige the youngest Divas Champion in history and signals a new beginning for the Divas division.
To promote tonight’s main event number one contender’s match, a Tale of the Tape appears for Dolph Ziggler and Bad News Barrett. It tells us of their height, weight, accomplishments and even their recent big wins. Both guys are very deserving of a shot at the United States Title. DAMIEN SANDOW VS. R-TRUTH; R-Truth is still dressed as Sherlock Holmes, causing Damien Sandow to look at him in disgust. The shenanigans in this bout are highly entertaining as Truth plays up the Holmes character and Sandow does everything he can to keep things serious. Tom Phillips reminds us that for the past two weeks, Sandow has surprisingly been coming out to watch Titus O’Neil compete but we still do not know why. As the match progresses, Truth seems to come back down to earth a bit, hitting the Lie Detector and being more like himself. Unfortunately for Truth, Holmes and the fans though, he gets caught with the You’re Welcome for the 1-2-3. Damien Sandow defeats R-Truth!Damien Sandow refuses to have his hand raised as he doesn’t want the referee to even touch him. He continues to show signs of his old self by busting out a celebratory cartwheel. He exits the ring as Truth’s run as Sherlock Holmes did not go well tonight.
A graphic appears to remind fans of the news that broke last night during Raw. Next Monday, on the final Raw before Payback, the 16 time World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair will be in attendance. What will the “Nature Boy” have to say? Will he interact with his Evolution buddies?
Before the match begins, we are joined by the United States Champion himself, Christian. He joins Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton on commentary, instantly complaining about how unfair this match is. NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH: BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER; These two met on Raw a few weeks ago, just days after Dolph Ziggler was cheated out of a match against Christian. They had very close times during the Beat the Clock Challenge and while Dolph beat Christian on Smackdown, Barrett beat Dolph before. Unlike their match on Raw, Ziggler is in control in the early portions, having Barrett’s offense scouted well. He hits the jumping DDT this time, but runs into the Winds of Change shortly after, both coming for near falls. Christian is frantic on commentary, stating that neither guy deserves to be anywhere near his title. Barrett gears up for the Bull Hammer, but Dolph ducks and strikes with a huge superkick. He falls on top of Barrett and covers, only for Barrett to get his shoulder up. Dolph rises to his feet first, stalking Barrett for the Zig Zag. Christian gets up from his seat and levels Ziggler in the back of the head with the title before charging at Barrett and doing the same. The match ends in double disqualification! The fans boo loudly as we don’t get a winner following that great match. Christian smirks and raises the United States Title over his head before shouting “This is mine! This is my spot and my belt!” down at both Bad News Barrett and Dolph Ziggler. “What is going to happen with the United States Title picture?” asks Byron Saxton as we go off the air.

WWE NXT: May 22nd, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
Following the signature WWE intro, a video package is shown to pump tonight’s show. There have only been four NXT Champions in history, but two of them meet tonight as Bo Dallas takes on the man he took the title from, Big E. Plus, current NXT Champion Adrian Neville is in action as well as NXT Women’s Champion and now WWE Divas Champion Paige! Cutting to the arena, Rich Brennan, Alex Riley and Renee Young welcome us to the broadcast and hype tonight’s card a bit more as we head to the ring for the opening contest. Bo Dallas’ music hit as the former NXT Champion makes his way to the ring. Despite the crowd booing him profusely, he is all smiles as he enters the ring. The crowd chants “Bo Leave” but he continues to smile and grabs a microphone. He begins to talk about his experience in NXT. “I am still the longest reigning NXT Champion in history and while I may not hold the gold currently, believe me, I am still your champion. Next week, I have to face NXT’s new sensation, Adam Rose. Now I know guys, he likes to party and trust me, so do I. I mean, just last week, I stayed up until 10:00PM.” The crowd gets a chuckle out of this before Bo continues, saying that he will make Adam Rose in a Bo-liever, the same way that he made Big E one when he beat him for the NXT Title. BIG E VS. BO DALLAS; The second and third NXT Champions in history do battle here, but in very different positions of their career now. Bo is now on his way to the main roster and Big E is in the midst of a heated rivalry with Sheamus over the Intercontinental Title. Big E wallops Dallas in the early goings and just overwhelms him with his power. He does his impressive spear through the ropes, taking both guys out. When they get back inside, Bo busts out the Bodog, but only gets two with it. He bounces off the ropes but Big E takes him out with a shoulder block. Both men are down as Adam Rose’s theme hits and he shows up partying with the Exotic Express. Bo gets to his feet, flabbergasted by what he is seeing. He screams at the partygoers, while Big E gets up behind him and takes his straps down. Big E turns Bo around and nails the Big Ending, scoring the pinfall. Big E defeats Bo Dallas!Adam Rose and the Exotic Express stopped to watch the pin but once the result is final, they go back to dancing around the ring. Big E celebrates as the fans chant “five”, but we unfortunately don’t get a five count. As Big E leaves, the Exotic Express try to get him to join in on the dancing but he declines. Bo Dallas gets to his knees and is on the verge of tears, shouting in the direction of Adam Rose and company.
Returning, Rich Brennan leads us in hype for next week’s NXT TakeOver. It is the first Live Special since NXT ArRival wowed fans back in February. On that night, Adrian Neville won the NXT Title in NXT’s first ever Ladder Match. In seven nights, he defends it in NXT’s first ever Steel Cage match against Brodus Clay. We will also see the Women’s Championship defended, the Tag Team Titles defended, a Falls Count Anywhere match and so much more!
Backstage, Devin Taylor is standing by with Sami Zayn. Sami is sporting a Dropkick Murphys shirt tonight, but doesn’t seem to be in his usual happy mood. Devin asks him about his match next week against Corey Graves. Sami responds, saying that at the last TakeOver he had a grueling match but it was much different. “This thing with Corey Graves and I isn’t about whether or not I can beat him. It isn’t about respect because while I know he’s a great competitor and dangerous man, I certainly don’t respect him. At TakeOver, we are going to beat the hell out of each other and I’m going to love every second of it.” NON-TITLE MATCH: PAIGE VS. EVA MARIE; It’s been clear for a very long time that the NXT Universe loves Paige. The exact opposite can be said for her counterpart tonight, Eva Marie. Eva may have very well gotten the most heat of anybody on the show tonight, topping even Brodus Clay. She does herself no favors by completely disrespecting the NXT Women’s Champion. She blows kisses at her and even slaps Paige, causing the Women’s Champion to just take her apart. Eva gets in little to no offense while Paige does her signature stuff. She polishes off Eva with the Paige Turner and covers for the win. Paige defeats Eva Marie!
Cheers emerge from the NXT Universe as Paige is handed the NXT Women’s Championship and raises it high in the air. Commentary discusses that the current double champion is on the hottest streak of her career heading into TakeOver. Could she really overcome the challenge of three top NXT Divas?
An ad runs for Legends House, which airs new episodes every Thursday night at 8E/7C, right before new episodes of NXT! CJ PARKER VS. TYSON KIDD; Natalya is at ringside, which Tyson Kidd informed us would happen last week. Before the bell, he receives a good luck kiss from his wife. He goes to work on CJ Parker while the crowd seems surprisingly split on Tyson. Someone starts a “Nattie’s Husband”, which clearly gets to him. It even causes him to look at the fans, which is a distraction that allows Parker to hit a big palm strike. He follows with a slam variation for two. CJ Parker charges at Tyson, but gets tripped up and he is forced to tap out. Tyson Kidd defeats CJ Parker!
Natalya enters the ring to congratulate her husband, who doesn’t look pleased with the fans at Full Sail University. Tyler Breeze appears on the tron, as he speaks directly to Tyson. “Currently, I am at one of my season residences but I’ll be back there for our match next week. You can have anyone you want at ringside, whether it be your wife Natalya or your boy toy Justin Gabriel.” Tyler claims that he will beat Tyson and, “you’ll all be one step closer to having the gorgeous NXT Champion that you don’t deserve.”
We see an advertisement for NXT TakeOver, which airs live on the WWE Network next Thursday night. They show quick builds for the NXT Title, Women’s Title and Sami Zayn/Corey Graves feuds. ENZO AMORE AND COLIN CASSADY VS. JASON JORDAN AND TYE DILLINGER; Seven nights ago, the Ascension issued the challenge to Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady for NXT TakeOver. It is the first title shot for the charismatic duo. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger however, come in looking to make a name for themselves and actually toss Enzo around a bit. He manages to weather their impressive storm and make the tag to big Cass. The seven footer comes in and cleans house. He hits some power moves and ends this with a big boot on Dillinger. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady defeat Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger!
The NXT Universe gets to their feet in celebration of the win by the number one contenders for the NXT Tag Team Titles. Enzo Amore jumps to high five Big Cass and they are hyped up, seemingly ready for their match next week. Is it possible that the dominant reign of the Ascension could come to an end at the hands of Enzo and Cass?
A promo airs for Total Divas as the Season Finale is coming up and it will be a special two part episode! See the Divas not only handle the pressures of WrestleMania XXX, but also watch as they attend the Daniel Bryan/Brie Bella wedding! We are then reminded that the show has been picked up for a third season. Devin Taylor is now backstage with Curt Hawkins, who fell short against Adrian Neville last week. She says that he requested this interview time, to which he responds by stating that his time is here. “I’m not just in NXT to be the guy with experience that loses. I stood side by side with Edge while he was World Heavyweight Champion. That’s Hall of Fame knowledge that I soaked in. I am a former WWE Tag Team Champion. Curt Hawkins is here in NXT to make an impact and not be some doormat. Watch me.” NON-TITLE MATCH: ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. KALISTO; Two weeks ago, Kalisto made his debut in NXT and has wowed audiences since then. Adrian Neville has been doing that very same thing since 2013. That makes this match exactly what the fans hoped for as they pull off a lightning quick opening back and forth. Kalisto rolls through a school boy and hits a loud kick to Neville’s head for a very close near fall on the champion. He goes up top, but Neville leaps up to meet him with a kick of his own. With Kalisto on the ground, Neville dead lifts him from the mat with a German suplex for two. Neville now climbs up top, but Kalisto dodges his move, only for Neville to roll through unharmed. They charge at each other and Kalisto snaps off a hurricanrana. He sets for Salina Del Sol, but Neville counters by tossing Kalisto off and into the corner. With Kalisto dazed, Neville climbs and hits the Red Arrow for the victory. Adrian Neville defeats Kalisto!
Adrian Neville gets to his knees, exhausted from the awesome match that he just endured. The official hands him his NXT Title but he focuses on Kalisto. He helps Kalisto to his feet, shakes his hand and raises his hand in the air. The NXT Universe gives them a standing ovation for the performance, but everything turns sour when Brodus Clay jumps into the ring. He clubs Kalisto in the back, sending him outside. Neville charges at him but gets caught in a big belly-to-belly suplex. Clay picks up the already worn out NXT Champion and hits an ever bigger one over the top and to the outside. As the fans boo loudly, Clay picks up the NXT Title and stares at it before smiling into the camera. “Could this be the sight we see next week at TakeOver?” asks Alex Riley.

WWE Monday Night RAW: Monday 19th May 2014…Gotten quite behind on this, so I’ll cut forward. John Cena opening up RAW from London isn’t much different to this year’s RAW in England opening segment. It did a good job, although this crowd wouldn’t have gotten the Bray Wyatt and John Cena storyline the story it has going due to us all being smarks. The Wyatt Family’s interruption was expected and would have gotten a big pop – and a fine job from Bray Wyatt to set up Payback in two weeks. An Ambulance match continues the pattern of ambulances and the pay-per-view Payback, and it surprisingly fits the theme of this rivalry, too. I was surprised that we didn’t get a match set up for Cena or Wyatt tonight, but I suspect Cena will face Erick Rowan or Luke Harper later on. Paige challenging for the Divas Championship in her home country could go one of two ways. Bad News Barrett beating Cesaro was good, catering to the home crowd. The home crowd also likes Cesaro due to his Swiss roots though, and I think putting him in there with white hot British babyface Barrett here was the best idea. It’s strange to see where Cesaro could go from here, since his momentum is momentarily derailed by Jack Swagger, and a loss to Barrett cleanly. Triple H being used for RAW tonight? I guess that’s a way to make people tune in rather than read spoilers for this taped show. Big main event with the expected leading member of the Shield, Roman Reigns. I wonder if that’s any indication for the future…Oh okay, so Cody Rhodes and Goldust beat the Wyatt Family. Strange win considering that Rowan and Harper should have more going for them with the success of Bray right now. Big E beating Fandango was what it was – although Fandango is automatically the babyface here due to his catchy theme music alone. Sheamus would have played the babyface here reversing the point of this segment, but you did the best you could. Sheamus will probably retain the Intercontinental Championship at Payback, I’m just wondering what’s next for him after that. Meanwhile I bet Big E will fall down the card. Stephanie McMahon’s promo was fine, although right now Daniel Bryan’s angle with Kane is looking like it won’t main event Payback – which hurts Bryan in his first pay-per-view defense of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Hopefully after Payback (if he can make it and not be sidelined with the neck injury) he gets a stronger push. I think your long-term plan does call for Brock Lesnar to destroy Bryan however. Good way to keep both Bryan and Kane looking strong in this segment, though. Strange to see Steph disconnected from Triple H’s business, though. Bo Dallas with a win against Darren Young was fine…although I’m pretty sure Young was injured before WrestleMania XXX. Bo’s deal was straight forward as he’s new to the roster and needs to establish some wins before entering a storyline. Roman’s comments for his comrades in the Shield set up for the main event, and made Reigns look legitimate to Triple H, so this is very good. Lana and Alexander Rusev would have been cheered most likely, even in 2014 thanks to the exposure of NXT. Good call with the Rusev Invitational as a preparatory step leading up to Rusev’s next big challenge probably at Money in the Bank or Battleground – I can’t imagine the Payback match will be much more than filler, anyway. William Regal was the right call for Rusev to feed on giving the foreign heel some heat in Regal’s home country. Nice promo from AJ Lee with Tamina Snuka to set up the upcoming (and well promoted) Divas Championship match – and I dug Triple H’s comments to Evolution. I’m expecting gang warfare to close down RAW and mess up an otherwise clean main event with Reigns and Hunter. Well promoted main event, too. Great win for Paige in her home country, even if it is too soon. You didn’t really have an alternate, though, so I understood this. Paige winning the Divas Championship is one thing, but now you need to make Paige look like she genuinely deserves the title – also hopefully you don’t oversaturate Paige and AJ’s matches. Or use the term “frenemy” too often. I still don’t understand Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam as a tag team – but them beating 3MB under the guise of the Union Jacks was amusing and got the job done. Filler match round two with Christian beating Santino Marella: these matches need to be more spread throughout the show rather than mainly held in the third hour. It makes for a frustratingly slow pace building to the main event segment. Ric Flair returns next week ala real life. I wonder if he’ll be an advocate of Evolution…or will it be the Shield? And finally, as expected gang warfare makes Triple H and Roman Reigns’ main event match a disqualification finish. This show was well built up and was one of your better ones, besides the flawed final hour of filler matches. I was expecting more Cena and Wyatt, though.
WWE Main Event: Tuesday 20th May 2014…Renee Young with an in-ring interview to kick off is unique. I’d like to see in-ring interviews more often, perhaps it could be the stand-out factor to Main Event as a show? It would differentiate it from the other three shows of the week anyway (well, I guess you can’t use NXT as an example because that’s VERY different already). The Usos’ comments were fine, although I’m never thrilled to see a tag team turmoil match for the WWE Tag Team Championships. It’s lazy, and it categorises the whole division in one rushed mess. It’s become much more of a television show cliché than a pay-per-view one, so hopefully we see more productively built tag title matches on future pay-per-views. Also now I understand why Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam are teaming up…but I really hope they don’t win the WWE Tag Team Championships. I wish you would have kept Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara’s team looking semi-strong and put them in here instead, honestly. R-Truth playing Sherlock Holmes…haha. I didn’t understand this segment, but it seems like you’re trying to give Xavier Woods something to do. But I can’t see it leading anywhere with much success – no diary I’ve seen yet has gotten Xavier over. But maybe you can make me change that claim. The Wyatt Family defeating Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd kept Erick Rowan and Luke Harper strong – they’re my choice for who will win next weekend at Payback. Natalya defeating Naomi was fine, although quite the babyface against babyface Divas match here. I guess this could determine the top contender to Paige’s Divas Championship next? That is probably after Payback where AJ Lee will pursue a rematch. I guess the main event was acceptable – however Bad News Barrett still being in London would have meant poor Dolph Ziggler would have been met with a tonne of boos. Or maybe a mixed reaction? England loves both guys, so who knows. The double disqualification was slightly a lame out, and will most likely climax with a rematch at Payback. Is Dean Ambrose still the United States Champion? I can’t see him defending the title at Payback due to the Shield scheduled to meet Evolution, either. Overall, not a bad show – it seemed stacked for a one hour format, though. Good build for Payback, though – which is shaping up as nicely as possible.

Friday Night Smackdown: May 23rd, 2014 – O2 Arena in London, England
Tonight, Smackdown’s broadcast begins with the weekly intro video before cutting to the once again raucous crowd in London. Michael Cole and John “Bradshaw” Layfield introduce things as they remind us of the big show in store tonight. Dean Ambrose of the Shield returns to face Batista just nine days away from the encounter between the Shield and Evolution. We are also set to hear from the number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title, Kane!
The theme of the Shield is head to a massive pop from the fans in London. Since the attacks last Friday night, both Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins haven’t been seen. Despite taking a beating that culminated with a Triple Powerbomb last week, Roman Reigns is with his brothers tonight. They enter the ring and Dean Ambrose gets a microphone as the cheers die down. He starts by saying that even though they are back, he is still feeling the effects of the beating he suffered last week. “Batista and Randy Orton are guys that hit hard for sure. You see, that’s the thing though. We’ve all been hit hard and we’ve all taken our fair share of beatdowns in the past. Hell, Evolution did a number on us before Extreme Rules and you know what? We won that night. The same thing is going to happen to you tonight Batista!” Ambrose starts getting worked up so Seth Rollins takes the microphone, trying to keep him calm. “Save that energy for the match Dean. Now, since I was taken out last week everyone has been wondering who was behind the attack. Stephanie McMahon herself said she knew nothing about it, so we have to take her trustworthy word for it don’t we?” The crowd boos as Seth reveals that his attackers were indeed Batista and Randy Orton. “Since I know Dean is going to take care of Batista tonight, I’m challenging Randy Orton to face me on Raw this Monday since he’s too scared to show up tonight.” Roman Reigns takes the microphone now and talks about his match with Triple H on Monday. “I was this close to beating a 13 time World Champion until he got his panties in a bunch and needed his boys to step in. Well look around boys. We took your best shot and we’re standing right here. Payback is aptly named because that’s exactly what we’re going to get. Believe that.” The Shield put their fists together as the crowd cheers. This feud with Evolution has absolutely become an all-out war.
A graphic is shown promoting tonight’s main event that was just mentioned. Dean Ambrose, the “Lunatic Fringe” steps into the ring with the “Animal” Batista!
NON-TITLE MATCH: SHEAMUS VS. MARK HENRY; Since winning the WWE Intercontinental Title and joining the Authority, Sheamus has been one of the most unstoppable Superstars in the entire WWE. However, it would be wise to overlook the “World’s Strongest Man” while looking ahead to a match against Big E. Mark Henry makes a good test for Sheamus since he has similar brute strength to Big E, which he uses early on. Sheamus though, has not only become more vicious as of late, but also more cunning as he trips up Henry and uses some dirty tactics to turn the tide. Sheamus shows off incredibly strength by getting Henry up for White Noise, before polishing him off with the Brogue Kick. Sheamus defeats Mark Henry!Sheamus celebrates his victory while the WWE Universe boos him mercilessly. He is handed the Intercontinental Title and hoists it high in the air. “Sheamus continues his dominating run and it is clear that Big E has a tough task ahead of him if he wants to win the title at Payback” says JBL.
An ad runs to promote the WWE Shop. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Bray Wyatt all have brand new merchandise that you can get on wwe.com! ALICIA FOX, LAYLA AND TAMINA SNUKA VS. THE BELLA TWINS AND EMMA; During the course of this match, Michael Cole informs us that since losing the WWE Divas Championship this past Monday, nobody has heard from AJ Lee, not even Tamina. They also spend time discussing the renewal of Total Divas. The stars of that show, Nikki and Brie Bella, show good chemistry with their partner and loveable goof, Emma. All three girls on the face side get to hit some of their signature offense. Brie goes for her missile dropkick but Tamina shoves her off the top. Layla tags in the powerful Diva, who lays out Brie with a vicious superkick before pinning her to win. Alicia Fox, Layla and Tamina Snuka defeat The Bella Twins and Emma!Alicia Fox and Layla enter the ring to stand by their partner but Tamina wants no part of it. She pulls away when they go to raise her arm and just exits the ring. This leaves her partners confused, but they decide to enjoy the win anyway, as the camera catches Tamina looking back at the ring atop the stage. There seems to be no emotion behind the glare though.
A video is shown, showing how some of the WWE Superstars and Divas participated in the 5K event to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer this past week. Stephanie McMahon headed up this project. BO DALLAS VS. XAVIER WOODS; This past Monday on Raw, Bo Dallas made his debut and made Darren Young tap out to the Bo and Arrow. It seems as if Xavier Woods watched that match as he is able to avoid Bo grabbing him in any hold during the early stages. Bo then resorts to poking Woods in the eyes, drawing boos from the fans. He is able to connect on the Bodog, covering Woods but only garnering a near fall. Woods fights back and attempts the Honor Roll, but Dallas ducks and nails a belly to belly suplex. He raises his thumbs up in the air and locks in the Bo and Arrow submission. Just like Raw, Bo shouts for Xavier not to give up or give in, but he has to submit. Bo Dallas defeats Xavier Woods!Bo Dallas exits the ring to do a victory lap while JBL gushes over his latest win. When Bo finishes his lap, he looks inside the ring. Bo helps Xavier up and shakes his hand. He doesn’t a have a microphone but the camera picks up what he says. “You did really good out here tonight Xavier. If you keep trying, maybe one day you could be like me. All you have to do is Bo-lieve.” He exits, leaving Xavier looking confused.
Returning, a video recap is shown of John Cena’s return this past Monday night. He came out of the back of an ambulance and issued a challenge to Bray Wyatt. Bray answered and accepted the Ambulance Match, saying that after Payback he will have the whole Cenation in his hands. We go back to the arena where the “Ravishing Russian” Lana comes out to the stage. She introduces the “Super Athlete” Alexander Rusev, who comes out to stand beside her atop the stage. Lana begins to run down the country of England. “We thought that America was bad but it is nothing compared to England. Usually, we would host the Alexander Rusev Invitational tonight but Rusev and I simply cannot wait to get out of this wretched place. Because of that, there will be no Alexander Rusev Invitational tonight. Not like we’d find anyone worthy of the challenge or capable of surviving five minutes with the Bulgarian Brute.” Lana laughs and points us in the direction of the titantron, where clips of the failed attempts in the Alexander Rusev Invitational are shown. Once that is over, Lana announces that the Invitational is coming to WWE Payback in a few weeks’ time and whoever has the gall to stand up with be crushed!
An ad runs for the release of WrestleMania XXX on DVD and Blu-Ray. Relieve the end of the Streak, Daniel Bryan’s crowning moment, the entire 2014 Hall of Fame ceremony and tons of never before seen footage! ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. CESARO; Here we have a rematch of a bout from a recent edition of Main Event. On that night, Cesaro ran into trouble because of his injured ankle. Before this match, we get a short pre-recorded interview from the Swiss Superman where he admits that while the ankle is still messed up, it is now heavily bandaged and it’s not an excuse for his recent losses. Much like the match from Main Event, Alberto Del Rio targets the foot, going after it like a shark smelling blood. He stomps away on it for a while, but Cesaro finds the strength from somewhere deep down to rally and deliver the popup uppercut that he was unable to hit on Main Event. Cesaro seems to be gearing up for the win, when Jack Swagger appears from out of nowhere and tackles him to the ground. Cesaro defeats Alberto Del Rio via disqualification!Jack Swagger and Cesaro just pummel each other, with neither getting the upper hand until Swagger steps on the ankle of his Payback opponent. Cesaro instantly goes down and Swagger pounces, going right for the Patriot Lock. Cesaro is able to wriggle out and roll outside, but Swagger is relentless. He whips Cesaro into the steel steps, before applying the Patriot Lock. Swagger shouts “I’M GONNA BREAK IT!” as he wrenches away until officials come down to break this up.
Returning, a recap airs of how the issue between Daniel Bryan and Kane escalated this past Monday on Raw to include Stephanie McMahon. She claimed that Bryan should hand over the title and admit he’s a B+ Player because Kane is just going to continue to hurt him. Bryan and Kane eventually come to blows, with Stephanie calling for security, which she never does when it’s Kane attacking Bryan.
An ad airs for Legends House, which airs new episodes on the WWE Network every Thursday night at 8E/7C! Surprisingly, the General Manager of Smackdown, Vickie Guerrero is in the ring. She waits for the heat from the crowd to calm down though it takes a long time. When she finally gets to talk, she says that she is the General Manager of Smackdown, but we wouldn’t know it. “The Authority handles most of the decisions made around here, but I am honestly sick and tired of sitting around doing nothing. I have power of my own and it’s about time I used it again. So, my first order of business involves the United States Title.” The crowd actually cheers this as Vickie says that there has been controversy surrounding it since Christian beat Dean Ambrose for it last month. Before she can tell us what her news is, the champion himself, Christian, strolls out looking worried. He gets in the ring, grabs a microphone and tells Vickie that there is no need to make any sort of decision tonight. “There was a number one contender match on Main Event and nobody won, therefore nobody should get a shot at my title. It’s mine dammit!” Vickie looks a bit amused by Christian’s whiny ways. She says that she was going to make another number one contender’s match but Christian cuts in, shouting that’s unfair. “You don’t know what the hell you’re doing, I’m going to talk to Triple H.” He goes to leave, but he has clearly angered the General Manager. Rage fills Vickie’s eyes, “I know nothing? You know what? There won’t be another number one contender’s match.” Christian smirks at this, but Vickie isn’t finished. “The reason there won’t be another number one contender’s match is because both Bad News Barrett and Dolph Ziggler deserve a shot and you will face both of them in a Triple Threat match at Payback!” The crowd pops as Vickie slams her microphone to the mat, leaving a bewildered Christian to pout in the ring.
Renee Young is standing by backstage. She introduces the new Divas Champion to a monster ovation from her home country, as Paige steps into the shot. Renee asks for her feelings on winning the Divas Title in England. Paige claims that it was the greatest moment in her life. “Getting to fulfill my dream in front of my friends, in front of my mom, was an experience that I will never forget.” Renee’s next question is about what’s next for the Divas Champion, but before Paige can answer, Tamina Snuka walks up to her. She says that she hasn’t heard from AJ Lee since Monday. “You don’t deserve that title and if AJ isn’t going to do anything about it, trust me…I will.” Tamina walks off before Paige is able to respond to that, but she does make sure to tell Renee that she is ready to take on anyone and promises to change the way we look at Divas. BATISTA VS. DEAN AMBROSE; In another preview of the upcoming war between the Shield and Evolution, Batista goes head to head with Dean Ambrose. Being the angry lunatic that he is, Ambrose attacks at the bell, firing away with a flurry of lefts and rights that cause Batista to regroup outside. Ambrose gives him no rest though, following him out with a suicide dive. The crowd is roaring as Ambrose is fired up, but once they go inside, Batista takes control. Things go back and forth until Randy Orton begins to slither out to ringside. He is quickly stopped in his tracks by the arrival of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. He backs away when he sees them and Batista shouts at them from in the ring. He turns to Ambrose, going for the Batista Bomb, but Ambrose pulls him into an inside cradle that earns him the win! Dean Ambrose defeats Batista! The WWE Universe cheers as the “Animal” falls tonight. Dean Ambrose rolls to the corner to celebrate, as Batista is livid. He steps towards Dean, but Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins enter the ring, standing in between them. Batista, still fuming, stops and backs out, joining Randy Orton on the ramp. He could be heard yelling something about saving it for Payback. The Shield stare them down from inside the ring as Smackdown comes to a close.

Smack the bitch Down. In this case, you're the bitch. We begin things with The Shield since, well, they're the big focus with Evolution as of late. A good promo to start things off and also give some promotion for later on in the main event for Dean Ambrose and Batista. A solid opener with Sheamus, of course, beating Mark Henry. No need for him to lose and it's a strong win against the World's Strongest Man. Har, har punny with 'strong win'. Next, we have a six divas tag match that really didn't matter much but had some curiosity with Tamina Snuka being silent and backing away from her partners. Bo Dallas beats Xavier Woods and I Bo-lieve! Well, I guess. Obvious job squad win for the new guy. Rusev is having his invitational on the Payback Kickoff, interesting. I don't see somebody beating him, of course, at this stage but I could see somebody strong giving him a run. IT'S IN CHICAGO SO CM PUNK DUHHH. We get Alberto Del Rio and Cesaro in the next contest and we get to see some mean streak from Jack Swagpot as he threatens to break the leg of Cesaro. I dig it, just like Jack digs mary-jane. Good to see him get some character out of this feud like that. Haha, Christian tries to be a dink to Vickie Guerrero and gets thrown in to a triple threat match at Payback that sounds pretty great. Looking forward to that and I could see either Ziggler or BNB walking away with the title, but I could also see Christian keep it. Curious. Tamina threatens Paige and I think we have the Diva's Championship match set for Payback. I think WWE would have done something like that in reality if Tamina hadn't gone and tore her ACL to shreds. Finally, the main event comes to chaos with The Shield and Evolution and we get a Dean Ambrose victory, most importantly. A good edition of Smackdown that got a lot of things progressing solidly in to Payback next week. Looking forward to it.

Solid opening in-ring segment with The Shield. It was nice to have a segment that wasn't interrupted by anyone. Big win for Sheamus over Henry. It makes him look even more dominant, picking up a win over someone the size of Henry. Interesting that noone has heard from AJ--I wonder where you're headed with that. I wouldn't be too bothered to see AJ take some time away and let other Diva's get a chance. Interesting to have Tamina pick up the pinfall over Brie. Poor Xavier didn't Bolieve. Still love Bo yelling at his opponent not to give in. Pretty cool for you not to have the Alexander Rusev Invitational on the show. The segment announcing that it will happen at Payback works. I wonder who will step up. Nice to see Swagger get the upperhand over Cesaro here tonight but I can't see Cesaro losing come Payback. Hopefully you can keep Swagger relevant following this feud and he doesn't faid into obscurity. A triple threat match for Christian's U.S Championship was to be expected. I totally forgot that Vickie was still around at this point. Ambrose definitely needed that win after Evolution's attack on both him and Rollins. The finish was good as it still kept Batista strong despite the loss. Overall, a decent episode of SmackDown. I'm really looking forward to Payback. I expect Paige vs. Tamina to be the final addition to the card. #RybaxelOr3MBForTagChamps

Monday Night Raw: May 26th, 2014 – University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee
After the WWE Signature, we are shown a tribute video package celebrating Memorial Day. It’s very patriotic gesture that the WWE does yearly and tonight was no different. Once that video is over, we cut to the jam packed University of Tennessee in Knoxville as the fans are rocking. Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcome us to the broadcast and hype tonight’s show. Just like last week’s show in London, England, we start with John Cena as he steps out onto the stage and receives his usual mixed reaction though there are more cheers. He looks around at the crowd before heading off to the ring. When he grabs a microphone, he mentions how hot the crowd is tonight before turning his attention to Bray Wyatt and Payback. “Last week I came back and laid down the big challenge to Bray Wyatt. He beat me at WrestleMania and I evened the score at Extreme Rules, but in his eyes, I didn’t. In his eyes, I lost because I had to go to a dark place to beat him. I’ve already admitted that he was partially right. I did have to go somewhere dark but if I have to go there once again this Sunday then that’s exactly what I will do. There is no way in hell that I am leaving Chicago in an ambulance.” The crowd mostly cheers for this proclamation. Cena says that Bray can do all of the singing and mind games that he wants to but come Payback, he better put up or shut up. This brings the signature of the Wyatt Family as the lights in the arena go out. Bray Wyatt appears on the titantron, with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan behind him. He is smiling as he addresses John Cena, telling him that he doesn’t get it. “It’s been months John and yet you still fail to understand what is happening. This is about more than I beat you, you beat me. This is different than showing your monster and this is no longer about your legacy. I am here for exactly what I sang about last week. I am here for the Cenation!” Some fans begin to sing the “whole Cenation in his hands” song that Bray sung in England last week. “You hear that John? Do you hear them following the buzzards? They are no longer yours John!” John Cena cuts Bray off, telling him to flat out shut up. “I hear them alright, but for every single one of those followers, there is another that still believe in hustle, loyalty and respect. I will fight for those people until the day I die. Hell, fighting is the why I’m out here. I’m tired of talking and while I have to wait for Sunday to get my hands on you, those two big baboons behind you are the ones that put me out of action so if one of them wants some, come get some!” Bray Wyatt looks back and begins to laugh before the Wyatt signature hits again and Luke Harper is in the ring with Cena. JOHN CENA VS. LUKE HARPER; A few weeks ago, these two squared off on an episode of Main Event. This match has a vastly different feel though because here, John Cena is aggressive out of the blocks in an effort to get some vengeance for the brutal assault he suffered at the hands of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. It also must help Cena’s focus that Bray Wyatt and Rowan are not at ringside. Despite his aggressive start, Harper reverses an Irish whip outside and sends Cena into the steel steps. This allows Harper to target Cena’s shoulder, which is not a body part he usually focuses on. He goes for the big discus lariat, but Cena is able to duck it and comes off the ropes with his shoulder block. He can’t do a second though due to the work done on his shoulder. He tries the AA but is again unable to do so, so he trips up Harper and locks him in the STF! Harper doesn’t tap out but is surprisingly smiling while in the hold. He eventually passes out but seemed to be enjoying it the whole time. John Cena defeats Luke Harper! The WWE Universe cheers for the finish, but John Cena was able to see Luke Harper smiling on the titantron and when he breaks the hold, he looks at Harper in absolute confusion. Despite the fans enjoying the outcome, Cena seems unable to fully join them in celebration because he is just staring at Harper. “John Cena continues to be surprised by how insane the Wyatt Family really is. They are honestly like nothing he or any of us have seen before” says John “Bradshaw” Layfield.
An ad airs to promote Payback, which is just six nights away. John Cena and Bray Wyatt meet in an Ambulance match, Evolution collides with the Shield in a massive six man tag and Daniel Bryan defends the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Kane! Following the ad, we are informed that Kane and Daniel Bryan will have a contract signing later on tonight, overlooked by Stephanie McMahon. Last week, all hell broke loose with these three involved and security had to be called. Will that be the case again tonight?
The WWE Rewind, presented by Juicy Drop, is shown. It focuses on Paige’s historic Divas Championship win over AJ Lee in front of her home country last week. We also see Paige’s emotional celebration after the bell. NON-TITLE MATCH: PAIGE VS. EMMA; Seeing Paige with the WWE Divas Championship on her shoulder go a pretty big ovation from the fans. These two had some great matches during their time in NXT. Emma gets in some offense early, taking Paige by surprise. She makes a mistake by missing a cross body. Paige takes instant advantage of this with some hard stomps in the corner. Emma falls backwards when Paige connects on some vicious headbutts before screaming, drawing a pop from the fans. Emma charges at Paige, who ducks and connects with the Paige Turner to score the win. Paige defeats Emma!
Paige is handed the Divas Championship, which she raises high in the air. The incredible run by the “Anti-Diva” continues! Not only did she become the youngest Divas Champion last Monday, but she is still the reigning NXT Women’s Champion and has a big title defense this Thursday on the WWE Network! As she’s celebrating though, Tamina Snuka runs in and levels her in the back. She picks up Paige and plants her with a Samoan drop before climbing up top and hitting the Superfly Splash. On Smackdown, Tamina made her feelings towards Paige clear and it looks like she acted on them tonight.
Backstage, the Authority are shown in Triple H and Stephanie’s office. Randy Orton is preparing for his big match with Seth Rollins tonight while Triple H talks to Sheamus. He tells Sheamus that he wants him to make sure that his focus is on retaining the Intercontinental Title at Payback. “With Daniel Bryan miraculously still walking around with the WWE World Heavyweight Title, I want to make damn sure that the title around your waist stays with the Authority.” Sheamus smirks saying that there is no way Big E beats him at Payback or tonight in their tag match. “I mean, his partner is literally going to be a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.” Triple H chuckles before turning to Orton and telling him that Dean Ambrose got lucky on Smackdown when he pinned Batista and that the same thing better not happen tonight. Orton asks about Ric Flair, to which Triple H says that he just got a phone call saying Flair is near. BO DALLAS VS. SIN CARA; Last Monday, we saw the debut of the inspirational Bo Dallas. He would defeat Darren Young before also winning against Xavier Woods on Smackdown. Here, Sin Cara wallops him early with a series of high flying maneuvers. Bo is forced to take a breather outside, only for Cara to nail him with a suicide dive. When they go back inside though, Dallas takes over and is his usual motivational self. He hits moves and shouts for his opponent to get up, not in a taunting manner, but as if he actually wants them to get up. Instead of finishing off Sin Cara with the Bo and Arrow submission, he uses a snap double arm DDT. Bo Dallas defeats Sin Cara!Just like he did after his first two victories, Bo Dallas allows himself a victory lap with a big smile and his thumbs up. When he’s done with the lap, he rolls into the ring and assists Sin Cara to his feet. He picked up a microphone along the way and tells Sin Cara that he sees potential in him. “You could one day do great things in the WWE. Tonight just wasn’t your night but that’s okay buddy. It was my night to go to 3 and Bo. Your time will come as long as you work hard, persevere and most importantly, Bolieve.” He exits with a smile as Sin Cara seems confused.
“Woo!” is heard and the crowd comes to their feet for the arrival of the two time Hall of Famer, Ric Flair. The “Nature Boy” makes his way down to the ring and grabs a microphone from ringside. Some fans in attendance can be seen bowing to Flair as he begins to speak. He starts by putting over how good it is to be back on Raw and in Tennessee. “Ever since it was announced that I’d be here tonight, people have wanted to know why. I’ll tell you why. In six nights, we are going to see a collision between the Shield and Evolution.” The crowd pops, which he allows them do before continuing, saying that he’s here to give his thoughts on the match. He is cut off though by the theme of his old stablemates, Evolution. Triple H, Batista, and Randy Orton, the latter in ring gear, strut out to the ring with smiles on their faces. When they get inside, they all shake hands and hug Flair. Triple H takes the microphone and thanks Flair for coming before putting him over as the greatest performer he ever saw. “I know that you’re here to tell everybody exactly what I’ve been telling them since this whole thing started. You want to tell them that there is no stronger force in WWE history than Evolution. Think back Naitch, we had it all. The women, the success and the gold. We held every title on Raw back then and nobody could stop us. The same holds true to this day.” Ric Flair takes back the microphone, cutting off Triple H and drawing interest from the fans. “I appreciate the kind words friend, but that’s now what I’m out here to say. I’m out here to tell the WWE Universe that my pick for this Sunday at Payback…is the Shield.” The crowd roars in approval of Ric Flair’s pick, while Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton have a mixture of shock, surprise and anger on their faces. Triple H responds, “You need to stop joking Ric because you can’t be serious.” Flair says that he is very serious. “You see, most of what you said was correct Hunter. Together, we were unstoppable. Evolution is one of the greatest things I have ever been a part of and I know that one day, we will all go into the Hall of Fame together. But that was then. That was in 2004. This is 2014 and the Shield are the hungry ones. They’re the talented and hungry young guys. Things are different now Hunter. You wear suits the majority of the year. Batista is now a Hollywood movie star. Randy…hell, I’ve never seen a more neutered World Champion in my life!” The crowd continues to cheer for these barbs, but Orton steps to Ric’s face. “Hey man, I’m just telling you like it is. If you want to beat those guys, you need to be the Evolution of old.” Batista takes the microphone and scolds Flair, saying they were the Evolution of old when they took out Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and when they powerbombed Roman Reigns last week. “Ric, you are one of my best friends in this business but you still need to watch what you say to us.” Before this can escalate any further, the music of the Shield hits to a thunderous ovation. They come down from the stands and enter the ring, opposite from Evolution. Ric Flair shakes each of their hands before exiting the ring as we get set for the big match between Randy Orton and Seth Rollins. RANDY ORTON VS. SETH ROLLINS; Seth Rollins was attacked backstage two Smackdowns ago and revealed that Randy Orton and Batista were behind it so he challenged Orton for tonight. With Triple H, Batista, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at ringside, this stays in the ring. Both guys trade offense with neither gaining a clear advantage. Triple H seems like he wants to get involved at one point following a Pele kick from Seth, but Reigns and Ambrose stare him down, keeping this thing fair. Seth climbs up top, but the high risk move doesn’t pay off as Orton crotches him and follows with his signature DDT. The Viper begins to coil for the RKO, but Seth shoves him off into the corner. He charges in with a boot and sets for the Curb Stomp but Batista trips him up, resulting in the referee calling for the bell. Seth Rollins defeats Randy Orton via disqualification! As one would expect after Batista got involved, all hell breaks loose. He and Triple H slide into the ring, where they are met by Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins and Randy Orton continue to go at it as well. Ambrose and Batista spill to the outside along with Triple H and Reigns. Inside, Orton knocks down Seth before going outside to join that brawl. With everyone close together, Seth gets to his feet and does a huge front flip dive out onto all of them! The fans in Knoxville are going nuts as security finally comes out to try and break this thing up. Evolution eventually retreats back up the ramp, but it is very clear that these men are going to war on Sunday.
An ad runs for Legends House, which airs Thursday nights on the WWE Network at 8E/7C, followed by new episodes of NXT! This week though, the episode will air at a special 10E/9C slot due to NXT TakeOver. Returning, Alexander Rusev and Lana are standing in the middle of the ring as we prepare for the Alexander Rusev Invitational. Michael Cole reminds the viewers at home that there will be a special Invitational on the KickOff show right before Payback this Sunday. R-Truth’s music hits as he comes out to take the challenge, with Xavier Woods by his side. When he’s done rapping, he gets ready for the match only for Lana to interrupt. “Hold on. We’ve been doing this Invitational for weeks and nobody has been able to handle the Super Athlete. Honestly Mr. Truth, I don’t think you’re going to change that. So instead, both of you will take the challenge together.” Truth and Woods look at each other and seem to agree. ALEXANDER RUSEV INVITATIONAL: ALEXANDER RUSEV VS. R-TRUTH AND XAVIER WOODS; Usually, Alexander Rusev is aggressive to start these things, but he takes a wiser approach with two opponents. They circle him as he seems cautious, only to unleash a big superkick that sends R-Truth out of the ring. Xavier Woods looks taken aback by this turn of events before snapping out of it and lighting up Rusev with right hands. He bounces off the ropes only to get caught in a huge slam. Rusev just tosses Woods around before looking over to Lana. She gives the signal to CRUSH, but Truth runs back in. He gets in some shots only for Rusev to take him down. He lays Woods on Truth and puts on a double Accolade! Both guys submit, ending this. Alexander Rusev defeats R-Truth and Xavier Woods! After the match, Alexander Rusev refuses to break the double Accolade until Lana calmly walks in and signals for him to stop. He looks down on his fallen victims before allowing Lana to raise his arm in victory. “If two WWE Superstars could only last just over three minutes with Rusev, who in the world has a shot at Payback?” asks Jerry Lawler.
Backstage, Renee Young is standing by with the “Swiss Superman”, Cesaro. She asks him about the health of his ankle going into tonight’s tag team match and his match this Sunday. Cesaro says the same thing that he did on Smackdown. “I spent enough time teaming with Jack Swagger to know how dangerous he is. My ankle is nowhere near 100% but it is not going to stop me from tagging with Big E tonight and it won’t stop me from swinging Jack right out of the Allstate Arena this Sunday.” THE BROTHERHOOD VS. KOFI KINGSTON AND ROB VAN DAM; For those who missed it last Tuesday night, it was announced on Main Event that there will be a Tag Team Turmoil match at Payback to determine the top contenders for the Usos and the WWE Tag Team Titles. Two of the favorites for that match do battle here as the former Champions take on the new team of Rob Van Dam and Kofi Kingston. As one would expect with these four, the action was quick and featured multiple near falls. The Brotherhood are hot off the heels of a big win against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan last Monday, but run into trouble when Rob Van Dam pins Goldust following a Five Star Frog Splash. Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam defeat The Brotherhood!Cheers pour in from the crowd as they give both teams a round of applause for their efforts tonight. In a show of sportsmanship, Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam shake hands with Cody Rhodes and Goldust, although the losers are a bit reluctant at first. As they turn to leave, Rybaxel runs in from the crowd and take out the winners. Cody and Goldust charge in and rumble with Rybaxel. However, they’re still feeling the effects of the match, so Rybaxel overpowers them. Rybaxel stands over four of their opponents for Payback, showing that they are not to be overlooked come Sunday.
Michael Cole informs us of some breaking news. The above graphic appears as he lets us know that Triple H was reportedly livid after the brawl with the Shield earlier. In response, he has decided to send out one of the Authority’s big guns after the powerhouse of the Shield tomorrow night on Main Event. The Intercontinental Champion Sheamus will face Roman Reigns live on the WWE Network tomorrow at 8E/7C!
A hype video is shown, promoting NXT TakeOver, which airs this Thursday night at 8E/7C on the WWE Network. We see a quick rundown of the card before Michael Cole tells us that the future is now as we are about to see what NXT is all about. NON-TITLE: ADRIAN NEVILLE VS. TYLER BREEZE; The Raw stage is transformed to say NXT and sport the NXT colors. In this match, the NXT Champion Adrian Neville takes on the man facing Tyson Kidd at TakeOver this Thursday, Tyler Breeze. These two have yet to have much interaction on the NXT brand, but if this is any indication, it will be really good if it happens. The action is fast paced, full of counters and features multiple near falls. The crowd’s interest in the match grows by the second, as they begin to buy into both guys. Breeze hits the Supermodel Kick for the closest near fall of the bout. He goes for the Beauty Shot, but Neville dodges and fires off with a series of his own kicks. The fans pop as he busts out a reverse hurricanrana, before climbing to the top and nailing the gorgeous Red Arrow to win. Adrian Neville defeats Tyler Breeze! After the bell, while commentary puts over the match, the fans in attendance rise to feet after seeing the breathtaking Red Arrow. We get a slow motion replay that really showcases just how incredible that move really is. Adrian Neville celebrates with the NXT Championship as he gears up for his toughest defense yet inside of a Steel Cage against Brodus Clay this Thursday.
A promo airs for Total Divas. As season two comes to a close, the show has already been renewed for a third one. We see some clips of the upcoming two part season finale. DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. FANDANGO; On commentary here, we have Bad News Barrett and Christian and they bicker throughout. The action inside of the ring is solid despite this. Dolph Ziggler and Fandango trade counters shortly after the bell, with Dolph getting the better of the exchanges after a loud superkick. Fandango survives that and takes down Ziggler, doing a dance in the process. Layla seems to enjoy it at ringside, but it costs him as Dolph is able to rest and dodge his next move. The one thing that Barrett and Christian do agree on at ringside is that they both strongly dislike Dolph Ziggler. Even without the admiration of his onlookers at the booth, Dolph nails the Zig Zag and pins Fandango. Dolph Ziggler defeats Fandango!Dolph Ziggler has his arm raised by the official as he looks out at ringside, staring down his opponents for this Sunday. Christian clutches his title tightly while Bad News Barrett points at Ziggler before turning to Christian and motioning for the gold. “These guys know just how much that United States Title means and they want to make their mark by wearing it” states JBL. BIG E AND CESARO VS. JACK SWAGGER AND SHEAMUS; Talk about your hard hitting matches. These four guys just come out firing and hit each other with everything they’ve got. The interactions between Cesaro and Sheamus are absolutely brutal and showcase that there is potential in a future rivalry between the two. Sheamus and Jack Swagger cut the ring in half to work over Cesaro, again targeting the bum ankle that everyone is going after lately. To his credit, Cesaro fights valiantly and is able to tag in Big E, who comes in on fire. Swagger is hoisted up for the Big Ending, but wriggles free. Unfortunately, he gets free as Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick and Big E ducks, causing Sheamus to kick his partner. Cesaro limps in and levels Sheamus with a European uppercut. Big E hits the Big Ending on Swagger, covering and getting the 1-2-3. Big E and Cesaro defeat Jack Swagger and Sheamus! As Big E gets to his feet, Cesaro enters the ring with him. Sheamus looks up with anger on his face at the loss here. Zeb Colter is just as pissed as he shouts at Cesaro from outside of the ring. Cesaro opens the ropes for him to do something about it, but Zeb declines. He assists Jack Swagger as he rolls out of the ring. Commentary mentions how that is Jack Swagger’s first loss in weeks, which puts him in the same boat as Cesaro, who has suffered some losses as of late.
Returning to the ring for the final segment, it is set up with a table in the middle for the contract signing. Security surrounds the table as well. Stephanie McMahon’s music hits as one of the principle owners of the WWE walks down to the ring to a chorus of boos. She doesn’t seem to mind though as she is handed a microphone and hypes up the WWE World Title match at Payback. “Ladies and gentlemen, you have to understand just how important this Championship match is. For just $9.99, you can order the WWE Network and witness not only the last night of Daniel Bryan’s WWE Title reign, but potentially, the last night of his career.” The fans boo that thought as she introduces Daniel Bryan, who comes out to his usual massive ovation. When he gets in the ring, he places his belts on the table and picks up the contract. As he is reading it over, fire explodes from the turnbuckles, signaling the arrival of Kane. The Big Red Monster walks down to the ring and stands on the opposite side of the table. Stephanie speaks, saying that the contract states that she, Triple H and the WWE are not going to be held accountable for any injured that Bryan incurs during the match. Bryan looks at her and responds, asking if the WWE will be held accountable for any injuries that Kane suffers. Stephanie laughs, “Seriously Daniel? You’re going to injure Kane? Really?” Bryan looks at her bewildered. “You’re doubting me again aren’t you? Haven’t you learned anything Stephanie? You doubted that I could beat Randy Orton last year and I did. You doubted that I could beat your husband at WrestleMania and I did. You doubt that I’m going to hurt Kane and I will.” Bryan turns to Kane, telling him that this is personal. “This isn’t just about us being former partners and about me supposedly making you soft. This is even about more than those titles right there. You went after my wife. Know this Kane. This Sunday, not only am I going to win but I’m going to hurt you.” Bryan throws the microphone down and signs the contract. Kane, who has been still the entire segment, finally moves to pick up the contract. He signs it and throws it at Bryan. Bryan retaliates by leaping at Kane and firing away with shots. Security gets involved to separate them but Bryan slips free and gets in more shots. When he is finally brought away again, Stephanie seems to give a signal to the men holding Kane back, and they just let him go. Bryan is stunned as Kane charges him and just begins to pulverize him. Kane tosses Bryan outside and clears off the announce table. Stephanie goes back to acting like this is all shocking to her. Kane hoists Bryan up and chokeslams through the announce table. Bryan’s broken body is the final image we see tonight.

WWE NXT: Wednesday 22nd May 2014…Alright, it’s time for the go-home show edition of NXT prior to NXT Takeover next week. Bo Dallas opening up the show was strange, but I liked that he was here. I suppose that his business with Adam Rose will soon lead to him leaving NXT and moving to the main roster, but only time will tell. I liked Big E then making a return to NXT to beat Bo, with thanks from Rose – and I suspect that this will be one of the matches lined up to be added to next week’s show. Big E coming back to NXT wouldn’t be a bad idea – he’s lost all forms of direction on the main roster and could use a recharge of batteries here. Sami Zayn’s comments for Corey Graves were nice. It’s minimal build like this really separates the entities of your NXT Universe from the WWE Universe. I suspect that Solomon Crowe will make his debut either next week or in two weeks – these segments have been cropping up for a while now. Paige defeating Eva Marie did the job in getting a Total Divas star on the show (and losing yay), whilst keeping NXT Women’s Champion Paige strong going into next week. Tyson Kidd with a win against C.J. Parker was fine, as he continues to look credible going into NXT Takeover. Tyler Breeze’s comments were nice, although I’m suspecting that Breeze will walk out in victory next week. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady were always going to beat Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger. It was expected, and here’s where Enzo and Cass’ personalities could be developed further rather than through simple matches like this. It’d help the rather generic build for their upcoming bout with the Ascension anyway. More vignettes could have helped give this feud some more colour. On the contrary, I see Konnor and Viktor retaining the NXT Tag Team Championship next week. I’m so happy that you haven’t given up with Curt Hawkins yet – I always liked him. I wonder how he’s here when his Create-A-Wrestler training school is on the run, though. Finally, Adrian Neville defeating Kalisto was the strong hook that this episode needed – probably very high-flying as one would expect – and the aftermath forwarded the business with Brodus Clay going forward to their steel-cage match for the NXT Championship. Clay looks strong as NXT goes off the air – indicating Neville will retain next week. Overall, not a bad go-home show. I suspect NXT Takeover will be well booked, but with its card (featuring one too many stipulation matches for my personal liking), it will look underwhelming in comparison to its’ real life counterpart.
WWE Friday Night SmackDown: Friday 23rd May 2014…The Shield opening up the show made sense, furthering their business with Evolution further. It probably was also done to forward Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as separate entities as well, from how it seems to read to me at least. Ambrose and Batista is a big main event scheduled – I don’t know how the chemistry would correlate. Could it be that you may be saving Roman and Batista for another date? Maybe SummerSlam…Moving on, Sheamus beating Mark Henry was fine in another match of their neverending series. I can’t see Big E reclaiming the Intercontinental Championship at Payback, so some damage control would be helpful for him I believe. Alicia Fox, Layla and Tamina Snuka then defeating Emma and the Bella Twins got the heel divas over – but it was a strange match that seemed to only serve the purpose of potential upcoming contenders after Paige and AJ Lee compete for the Divas Championship at Payback. If that is your aim, anyway. Tamina appeared to be the focus…which could be interesting. Maybe Paige will face Tamina at Payback? Bo Dallas defeating Xavier Woods was expected, a good win for recent newcomer Bo. Good luck getting Xavier Woods over in any role whatsoever. I just hope that Bo doesn’t flounder in comedy undercarder for the next few months before resorting to a straight up loser. Lana and Alexander Rusev’s segment served purpose to setting up Rusev’s Open Invitational series which appears to be ongoing. Surprised that there wasn’t one featured tonight – I do think the best way to conclude this series is with a resilient NXT star that loses but wins the heart of the crowd, to be honest. Perhaps that is the end-game, too. Alberto Del Rio defeating Cesaro in a rematch from Main Event the other week is fine, and Jack Swagger being the cause of Cesaro losing is a nice touch. Cesaro would be so over in England after his face turn, I’m surprised you didn’t do a bigger match for him and the xenophobic Swagger character. Swagger looks dangerous as a heel here – and I’d like to see you continue with that rather than to just drop him down the card again after Cesaro presumably ends up winning their feud at Payback. I forgot that Vickie Guerrero was still SmackDown General Manager by May. A nice set-up leading to Christian defending the United States Championship against both Dolph Ziggler and Bad News Barrett – could Christian lose the title without being pinned? I think that will be an underplayed factor in retrospect. I was surprised that Barrett didn’t compete tonight in his home country again after RAW. And finally, Dean Ambrose defeats Batista – big shocker to me here, but I understood it with the interference from the Shield and Evolution members. Not a bad ending, a rematch between Ambrose and Batista could be used on RAW this Monday, though. Pretty good show, surprising lack of British talent on the London show though.

Decent way to kick off the show. Kind of wish you opened with someone else given Cena/Wyatt opened the show last week in London but it made sense from the point of view that it set up Harper/Cena for the opening match. Absolutely loved how Harper didn't tap out, instead passing out whilst smiling in the STF. Kept him looking strong and played up to Harper's character well. Emma is a great first opponent for Paige due to her past matches with Paige in NXT. Obviously, Paige was always going to win here but I imagine a good match here with Paige would have helped elevate Emma a bit, which is always good. Tamina being the first challenger to Paige makes sense given Tamina's alliance with Paige, plus when Paige undoubtedly (in my mind) beats Tamina, it makes her look strong due to how big and dominant Tamina has been in the Diva's division. Decent win for Bo. As much as I've loved him giving the motivational speech mid-Bo and Arrow on SmackDown and Raw, it made sense for you to give him an alternative finisher in the double arm DDT. Looking forward to seeing who will be Bo's first proper feud. The inclusion of Ric Flair in The Shield/Evolution feud is fantastic. I really liked Flair getting behind The Shield and then Ambrose/Rollins/Reigns coming to Ric's aid, leading into Rollins/Orton's singles match. I expected Rollins to go over here given how he was laid out by Orton and Batista but the disqualification finish was probably for the better. Keeps both men strong heading into Payback. Liked the post-match brawl. Really enjoyed this week's Alexander Rusev Invitational. Double Accolade ftw! I'm really interested to see who will face off against Rusev at Payback. I can't imagine it being anything too surprising given that it's only on the kick off show and not the actual PPV. Kofi and RVD needed that win tonight given that they've only just formed as a team. RYBAXEL! Glad to see that you featured NXT in the show in a bid to hype Takeover. Neville/Breeze would have been a solid match. Obviously, Adrian Neville was the winner. Fine win for Dolph over Fandango. Big tag match there. Swagger taking the pinfall was to be expected, in all honesty. The closing contract signing segment was done really well. You're capturing Stephanie McMahon really well. Great way to close the show with Bryan going through the table. I think it's pretty much a given that Bryan will walk out of Payback still the champion so it was cool to have Kane standing tall here tonight.
