Essentially, Daniel Bryan's shortcomings on the mic don't matter when he has such a strong connection with the audience. When the people love you, they love you. Same thing happened with Jeff Hardy, and he was a much worse talker than Bryan. Not to mention, Bryan isn't bad on the mic.

Yes. I walked down the street in New Orleans today and four people saw my shirt and started screaming yes. There were also groups saying yes. Yes.

I think Bryan is alright on the mic, but defiantly not better than CM Punk though. I don't know why but watching Bryan wrestle bores me the guy does nothing but kicks and dropkicks. -.- CM Punk beats Bryan in wrestling as well.

CM Punk isn't wrestling and Daniel Bryan is?
Also, people just like chanting 'Yes'.

it's the era - if punk had been in the attitude era he'd have thrived, had jericho just started today he'd arguably catch on much more, if dynamite kid had only started in the mid90s in wcw like guerrero and benoit...it's the era. daniel bryan fits the mold. plus, he's a far better in ring wrestler overall. and that's coming from a massive punk fan, while i'm just okay with daniel bryan.

I agree, but the difference for me is that Bryan doesn't try to be a Star. He just keeps plugging away, with his comical look and underdog gimmick, and people want to get behind him because he has the different look to what WWE usually wants to give us. He symbolises the every day person and fan with a dream. However, when he wins the WWE Championship, Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk could easily be this generations Rock vs Austin.

I like punk but always found him overrated by the iwc. Above average talent but he'd get sloppy in the ring at time and fumble on the mic once in a whole giving his "pipe bombs." And this is coming from a Chicago native.
Punk is better on the mic than Bryan but that's not everything. I find Bryan much better in the ring and he fits the underdog story better than punk who was always bitter even though he received one of the best runs of the past 10 years.

Because being the best on the mic isn't everything and thankfully, Bryan makes up for that and more.

Because everything about Punk is ridiculously overrated and he comes across as a complete douche in real life. Bryan is bigger because he is a relatable everyman who is decent on the mic, likeable, and excellent in the ring. People love the underdog stories. Punk was the underdog a long time ago, but his natural arrogance and obvious sense of entitlement lost him some fans (me). Daniel Bryan is someone that you can get behind and feel like it matters, which was one of the things that got Hogan so over (yes, I know, no comparison in the ring). Daniel Bryan is the ultimate underdog, because all of the lines of BS that Punk has been spouting about how he never should have made it (he came around at a time when his look was basically mainstream, the heavily tattooed look became popular a little bit before he debuted so it made sense that this aspect would endear him to fans, he had already received exposure in TNA which at the time had more indie cred matched with the reasonably large ppv audience, and he had Paul Heyman annoying everyone backstage about how great Punk was) are true for Bryan. Bryan is, for all intents and purposes undersized, he had a terrible look (nerd haircut, naive smile, vitiligo patches, plain maroon everything), he is kind of a hippee, and I think its safe to say that aside from about 100 people per show chanting for him; particularly after the dreaded tie incident; nobody gave a flying f#ck about him. Against all odds, his natural charisma and personality shined through. Bryan is real, and most of what Punk is is manufactured by his arrogance and Heyman. Wrestling fans are sheep, the tagline 'The Best in the World' was just that, a tagline. So is 'Yes', but case in point, he calls himself 'Best in the World', while not actually even being Best in the WWE, and people cling to it. Without all of the manufactured crap Punk is just an @$$#ole with a ridiculously huge ego and a sense of entitlement. He is good in the ring, but not as good as he thinks he is, and good on the mic, but all he really does is make snarky comments and complain about stupid crap, which gets very old very fast. I'm not a fan of Cena's promos, but Cena can get it done on the mic better than Punk when he really wants to. Bryan doesn't profess to be anything other than himself. He is not arrogant, he is waaaaay better than Punk in the ring, and pretty close on the mic too. It makes perfect sense to me why Bryan would be bigger.

Crazy how ridiculously all of you overrate both of these guys. Calling Punk the greatest talker of all time? Who in the hell did he talk into the building? How many wrestlemania tickets has he sold, how many manias has he mainevented?
Both guys are talented, neither are as great as their online hype.
