I almost think Taker just changed the finish. Brock, Paul and the ref.. they were all looking like, WTF.. They had the graphics ready. If they didn't know, they wouldn't have had them ready. That's why I said almost.

Yeah, it looks like only Vince, Taker and Brock knew about it. Not the ref, Heyman or the commentators. I don't think Cole knew about it, maybe his smartass started to sniff around backstage and realized that things felt weird this WM.

I guess I don't understand what purpose keeping the referee in the dark would serve. He's the signal caller out there, he needs to know what's up. It seems more likely to me that he may have been confused and forgot it was the finish or something.
I could see them keeping the commentators in the dark for genuine reaction, but can't imagine them doing it with the referee.

If Taker is done for good then this has to be the worst way for him to go out. All he has to do is wait til next year where he can have one of the biggest dream matches ever against Sting and then the year after where he can face Cena.

The bigger guy in the Just Say Yes shirt is probably the greatest reaction since Miz girl.

They had the graphics ready. If they didn't know, they wouldn't have had them ready. That's why I said almost. That would take literally 2 seconds for someone to re-type it as 21-1 instead of 22-0.

That was the best swerve in WWE history, IMO. What an incredible Wrestlemania. I love wrestling.

He was crawling in the ring right as the ref was counting 3 I think. He knew. His reaction would have been less dramatic if he didn't. He would have looked like the crowd and though we just F'ed up somehow at Wrestlemania.
I think if he didn't know, he would have been a statue thinking "how do we fix this now". My opinion at least.

All it takes is hitting backspace on Chyron and typing a different number. Thats it. Hang on a second, it wasn't a Chyron, it was an image rendered to an LED wall. I just Production Managed a million dollar show with a 34x24' LED wall and can tell you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is no live graphics being rendered on those screens. They are all deliberately processed and compiled to work on those screens. The processing power to render the image just takes time. Not a ton, but 20-30 seconds after the image is created and sent for rendering (if the file isn't too complicated). All of that background movement would mean that the process would take minutes, not seconds, from the imputing of the graphic to the processing to the cueing. And dropping something like that into the cue stack would be difficult. Video work is very structured when it comes to live performances. All that said, they could have had both graphics made and then skipped a cue when the decision to end the streak came. But it was a planned end. If it wasn't, the show would have derailed backstage since the story they want to tell would not be told and they would have to do something to get it back on track.

This is Paul Heyman we're talking about. Even if he knew, he could make us believe his reaction was real.

It took a few seconds to get the graphic up and yeah, it really would take mere seconds. If we can switch full rendered motion graphic images in a split second here at ION I think WWE can afford to the same.
