Yesterday I went to Hot Topic and was looking to see what WWE shirts they had, then I go to look at the wristbands to see if they still had the Nine Inch Nails ones, they did and they were on clearance for $3. Anyway I go to pay for the wristband and the girl at the counter took my $5 bill and gave me the change and was interrupted by a customer, Somehow she misplaced the wristband I bought when she answered the customer. Now she swore she gave me the wristband when I purchased it whereas she did not. After a bit of arguing she gave me another one for free even though She would have made me buy another one. The employee followed me out of the store like a criminal. I never had a problem with Hot Topic before in all the years I have purchased various things there. I've seen this store in the mall but I have never been inside. From what I can tell teens mostly shop and work here. So im not surprised you would get bad customer service.

lol I recently tweeted about how awful Hot Topic is and they responded with this "Oh no! Please private e-mail us on Facebook with the details and we'll look into! So sorry!" I guess you can go there and report them.

I used to be borderline goth in junior high. I haven't walked into a Hot Topic since that ended. I've always just associated Hot Topic with goth.
Yeah, that had nothing to do with this thread.

It sure does. It kinda goes with what I said, look at the customers and employees now tell me, did you really expect good customer service? Most mall stores such as Hot Topic are really all about appearance and not so much customer service. My wife shops at Holister and Aeropostale and the children they hire in those stores to be the employees are just laughable. Not to say they all are bad when it comes to customer service, im just saying the company prefers to hire a pretty young girl as opposed to a person with years of retail experience. So when I see the employees I dont expect them to know much of anything.

I'd love to see what a day in the life of JC Motors is like. I've actually bought two of my Ryback shirts at hot topic. They have a nice selection of wrestling ts (or at least did ) even with the ridic 24.99-27.99 price tag it's still better than whatever wwe vendors are charging at live events these days (likely 35-40 per shirt ) Click his You Tube link.

I've only been to one once in 2013 around Wrestlemania in NJ and I had a great experience. Got some WWE shirts, and talked to a really hot chick about Wrestling for like 20 mins.

I'm not putting this off on you, OP... but typically, if I am purchasing something in person, I keep my eyes on whatever item(s) it is that I am buying. Sooo I have to ask, what were you doing when this sales person was ringing you up? Just like, looking around?

I used to buy comic book/superhero shirts in there (they had those sweet airbrushed-looking, "fat-guy" comic book style button downs back in the day). Since then, I've always wandered around, usually looking at the T-shirts, etc. Usually the staff tells me what's on sale, which is reasonably good customer service IMO. One time a few months back, a girl started talking to me about Thor 2 and I wound up BSing with her for a while. At a different one back where I grew up, a dude was talking with me for a while about Arkham City and Marvel vs Capcom for a while. They both were just cool experiences, never felt like they were trying to pressure me into buying something.
I guess not every place can have good customer service like that.

I hate dealing with stupidity (I've got some stories I could tell about Target & Walmart)

This thread is something else. Tattoos, eyeliner and loud music does not equal stupid, careless degenerate. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Maybe people steal from them every day and they're tired of it. Maybe this is a life lesson.

That sucks. I don't go to Hot Topic often at all although I can't say I've had a negative experience.

As a former employee at Hot Topic, last couple years, had you came into mine on my watch I am willing to bet you would have gotten awesome service if not the best customer service you've gotten in retail. Especially if you bought anything WWE. Being the only fan working there, I'd chat with anyone even looking at WWE shirts. I loved the job but hated the pay/hours.
