I know sharpie isn't the best thing to use when customizing, but I'm trying something new. Anybody know a sealer for it that works well?

Well, you did mention that you know it's not the best thing & it's true, it isn't! For the moment you put the sharpie on it will look "okay" depending on what you did, but in time with or without sealer the sharpie color will fade.
To answer your question, I say get Testors Dullcote Spray. I feel for what you're asking or for any type of sealant that this is the best you can get & it's the only thing I use. The spray might be the better bet in the sense of what you're asking because I feel if you brushed on a sealer that the ink from the sharpie could actually smear or discolor even faster with that method, but I recommend Testors for it, but there are other dullcote sprays you can get.

The best sealer for a Sharpie is actually the cap it came with. If you aren't good with a brush, and I'm not great so this is the voice of experience, try out paint pens. I, for one, haven't found any that I really like so I've just kept practicing my painting and I think I'm getting OK.

Forget Sharpie. The ink will eventually just bleed into the plastic and look more like a bruise than anything.

Speaking from experiene, i would use paint pens. Paint pens will seal much better and Sharpie just wont hold even if you seal it. It will eventually look like a glob of purple/ black ink, as mentioned above.

Best bet is to use toothpick.
Thin down an arcylic paint and use toothpick..

Paint markers are very sticky. We'll at least the ones I use. Same problem I had. Never seemed to dry. Paint markers are oil based. Could take a week or more to dry. Also did you shake it very well before using it? If not mixed well oil paint will never dry. Stays tacky forever. +1 clear nail polish as sharpie sealer. |

I got a paint pen at Walmart about two months ago and it was acrylic and dried really fast. It has its own sealant so it was pretty cool just to try out. I prefer painting over the pen, but it worked really well doing tattoos for a custom of an indie wrestler out here who has tattoos like Randy Orton had prior to going with the sleeves.

Makes sure you buy acrylic paint pens. They are harder to find but oil based paint pens won't properly dry and will be sticky. 6 months down the road every speck of dust that comes near the figure will be collected on the paint.
