Rob Pattinson is my Batman. That film was phenomenal and somehow topped the Nolan films for me. That casting is off the charts. And the “friend” had me so giddy. Brilliant casting. It’s like they took the Nolan movies and said “let’s go darker”

The fight scenes felt ripped right out of an Arkham game

7/10
Solid movie but the best act is the first hour. Second hour drags a lot, and third slightly picks up but didn’t hit like the first hour. 30 minutes could have easily been cut to make this flow better.
Pattinson is a solid actor but he’s too “boyish” for the role IMO. Even in the suit, he didn’t have an intimidation factor what so ever. And the writing for his Bruce was aweful. Emo-Bruce Wayne did nothing for me. The suit does nothing for me either. Yeah, it’s year two Batman, but as Christian Bale would say, it looked like Rob was wearing hockey pads. The bottom half of his outfit looked like they didn’t even try.
Selina Kyle could have been cut from the film and you wouldn’t miss much. I also didn’t feel that Zoe and Pattinson had much charisma either.
Gordon and Cobblepot were great castings. Riddler was cool until they had him go all “Joker” at the end. Action was ok, but I feel like we didn’t get a standout scene like previous Batman films.
Solid film but has flaws. And that’s ok. Not everything needs to be “The Dark Knight.”

I freaking loved The Batman.
It gets going right away and the fighting and the movie in genral actually had a real Arkham video game vibe for me. I was not sold on him as Batman at all, but I thought he was great. His emo style hair as Bruce Wayne was not great, but that is legit the only criticism I have with his performance. Also, it was a three hour movie that did not feel like a three hour movie if you know what I am saying. I would 100 percent pay to see this in the theatre again and I might just do that.
I have seen that it has a bit of a mixed reception online, I am someone that while I like them I am a huge fan of the Nolan/Bale movies so perhaps that is why I got into this one so much.

We covered the Batman on our podcast network. Enjoy, but spoiler warning, obviously.

My ranking of the Batman films (not including Suicide Squad as it was just a few cameos from Affleck or the ‘66 film since I don’t think it’s fair to include with “modern” Batman films).
1. Batman Begins 2 The Dark Knight 3. Batman Returns 4. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 5. BvS Ultimate Cut (I enjoy this film more than others) 6. Batman Forever 7. Batman ‘89 8. The Batman 9. Batman & Robin (horrible movie but I always have a good time watching this) 10. The Dark Knight Rises (outside of Bane I just don’t enjoy this one) 11. Joss Whedon Justice League (even without knowing what happened behind the scenes, this movie is a mess and one of the worst comic films ever)

Man, The Batman was amazing. For me, I'd say it's tied with Joker ‘19 for the best movie within a Batman universe (or a universe that includes Batman, so we can include Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and Justice League in the competition) since The Dark Knight. Tremendous film.

Really enjoyed The Batman. Like Burton? Reeves gets that Bruce Wayne is the mask not Batman. Nolan didnt....
I enjoyed it more than TDK & TDKR....Ill have to see it again to see does it outshine Batman Begins...but for now its on the level with it.
Loved how Gotham looked and how the crooks reacted when they seen the Batsignal was a brilliant touch. I also like that Reeves kept the heavy hand for Batman. I loved Afflecks bruiser & when he hammers the russians at the end of BvsS I marked and still often watch that scene.
all in all great stuff and I look forward to seeing more of Pattinson in the role. Also really enjoyed Colin Farrell as the Penguin & Wright as Gordon.

That Batman deleted scene was perfect. I love the casting, the look, and the presentation. Feel like he will end up being my favorite portrayal of the character.

And like you, I really like the Ultimate Cut of BvS. It's a way better film than the theatrical release. I also want to say I love all the Batman films in one way or another. Batman and Robin is one of my favorites for its own reasons. But I'm curious why you have Batman '89 so low, and also why you have it behind Forever. Most people have '89 so high.

The Joker deleted scene was intense but I really wish they would use other villains. Joker is great and all but I’d love to see some other villains that don’t get much love on the big screen like Freeze

I enjoy all the Batman movies. I grew up in the 90s with the Burton films, and love Jack as Joker, but I feel that ‘89 as a story and movie doesn’t hold up as well today as it did back in 1989. Great ascetics that still hold up, but the story isn’t that strong IMO. Forever has its issues as well, but I find it an easier watch than ‘89 and a better story (even with it being far campier/lighter). I think Val Kilmer is underrated as Bruce/Batman, and 90s Jim Carey is gold. I think ‘89 has “higher highs” than Forever, but Forever is a more enjoyable film that I find myself going back to more than ‘89.

That's like me with Batman and Robin: I go back to it more often because it's more fun and I love the colors. Not many movies go that over the top with the look. It's cheesy and campy and not serious at all outside of Alfred's story, but for me it's pure fun. I like Kilmer, too. He was really good as Bruce and good as Batman. Two Face could have been better, especially because Tommy Lee Jones is such a great actor. A serious Two Face to go opposite the not-serious Riddler would have been cool. The character just wasn't written that well. I like the story, though, and I watch it whenever it's on.

I liked The Joker well enough but never need to watch it again and had no interest in a sequel….until it was announced as a musical.
