I haven't watched NXT in months, so maybe by not really being involved in the storylines I missed a crucial piece of the show, but I thought it was just decent. The tag title match was my favorite match by far, the two women's matches didn't do much for me, Corbin/Crews was probably the worst match of the show, and the main event was pretty good.

Sometimes predictable is good. Like Roman Reigns winning the belt on Monday, Bayley winning in Brooklyn and Finn winning in Japan. Not really.. the goal is to shock people. That's why I said sometimes. Reigns won on Monday and people here loved it, while it was far from shocking. Sometimes shocking is great, sometimes predictable is great. It just can't stay predictable for too long.

People lose interest entirely too fast these days for nxt to be content with being predictable.

The goal is to put a show that is enjoyable. Or are you telling us that for example having Heath Slater ending The Undertaker's streak would have been fine just because it was shocking?

Thought it was a solid show. I have no complaints really. Each match delivered to an extent.

This Takeover didn't do it for me.
Every other one I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This one was kinda meh.
You knew Nia wasn't going to win, you knew Asuka was gonna win, you knew Balor was gonna win, you knew Crews was gonna win.
Tag match was great but Enzo and Cass should've won. The mechanics aren't very charismatic and Enzo and Cass blow the roof off the place no matter where they go. They deserve a decent tag title run.
I also found it wierd that Cass survived that 2 minute long leg lock with a broken leg, then they lost 25 seconds later.

If it was booked right and Slater was relevant that could be fine. Sure.

It was pretty good. I'll have to give it a second look, but I'd say like 6.5 or 7/10.
Asuka/Emma - ***1/4 Tag Titles - *** Crews/Corbin - **1/2 Women's Title - **1/2 NXT Title - ***1/4

It's a sad comment about the state of WWE vs NXT that I waited until Monday to watch TLC and even with all the furniture being destroyed I was disappointed with the PPV. Meanwhile, I watched TakeOver live despite the unusual start time and while no furniture was destroyed I enjoyed the show much more.
Bayley vs Nia was booked about as well as it could be given the different size and styles of those two. As a MMA fan I enjoyed seeing Bayley try out multiple submission holds. The finish reminded me of Royce Gracie in the early days of UFC when there were no weight classes and he would submit much larger opponents all the time.
Anybody who thinks Samoa Joe doesn't have "it" anymore should really watch that main event.

I enjoyed the show as a whole but it was just good. I would probably say it was the weakest Takeover so far but you had to imagine at some point the shows were going to plateau especially given how many we've had recently. It'll be nice for them to take 4 months to build to the next one.
Asuka Vs Emma was a good match with some strange sort of miscues going down the stretch with the ref bump and the awkward Dana shenanigans. That all kind of took away from the match for me but it was good. It felt too long though.
Enzo and Cass continue to be the team that can't win the big one and I'm now convinced they aren't ever going to hold those tag team titles. The time to do it would've been Brooklyn. Now with Gable and Jordan catching fire I feel like Enzo and Cass' chance has come and gone. I expect them to be in limbo from now until they get called up.
Corbin Vs Crews was fine if unspectacular. Corbin has improved a whole bunch in the last year and Crews is capable of some pretty spectacular stuff but he just hasn't connected with me personally thus far. I expected this one to be a touch longer but it just kinda felt "there"
Bayley did about as good a job as possible with Nia. I had really really low expectations for this match which I felt bad about going in because Bayley is so wonderful. They wrestled the match I expected them to. It was fine. The crowd was super hot for the finish which was great. I was glad that Bayley went the whole "I can't really do my regular finisher on her" thing and improvised. Good storytelling. Ok match.
I'm convinced Balor got knocked loopy early in the match or hurt himself on the missed double stomp to the steps because of the two botched Pele kicks. The match was good, Joe has switched it into a higher gear since his match at Brooklyn, he seems more comfortable. It wasn't as great as I expected but it was still really enjoyable.
If I had to give the show a rating out of 10 it would probably get a 6 or a 6.5/10

If it was booked right and Slater was relevant that could be fine. Sure. Eh, that's an IF that is big like the whole world. If Heath Slater would have been booked right in the past 5 years it would have meant that there was constantly a good work on his character. Shocking people just to shock without a reason is pointless.

It's really pointless to run a "major" show that way.

This NXT Takeover show wasn't anything special at all.
No title changes.
Only 5 matches.
Lack of guys like Tyler Breeze really show that the NXT brand is in need of some new blood. You were always guaranteed a solid, entertaining match when Tyler fought on these NXT Takeover shows. Him not being there really showed that the event was lacking.
Nia Jax should have destroyed Bayley and won the Women's Title. Remember in 1989 when Andre and Haku destroyed Demolition and won the Tag Titles?? It worked. Nia Jax should have done the same to Bayley, but the internet favourite had to win apparently.

I thought the show was great. Every match minus Crews/Corbin delivered for me.
Asuka vs Emma was a great opener. Better than Asuka/Dana. I'd say about ***3/4.
Dash/Dawson vs Enzo/Cass was better than I expected. Hot finish. ***1/2.
Crews vs Corbin disappointed me. Too slow. Expected better. Nice surprise win for Corbin though. **1/4.
Bayley vs Nia told a good story and proved how great Bayley is. ***1/4.
I thought Balor vs Joe was a fantastic main event. Can't understand some low ratings. Easy match of the night. ****1/2.
