For whatever reason, him and Steiner were over as hell.

Sorry AF,I've no reason to discredit Storm here I know Bagwell has his fans but heaps of folks say he was never gonna get anywhere with his attitude. Hell even TNA wouldn't give him a regular gig......also man DDP was a bigger name than Buff. He agreed to the immediate buy out too. Yeah I always forget about DDP agreeing to a buy out so quickly, because he didn't debut immediately. Ugh, what could have been in that angle. I guess it's just one of those things where the stars didn't align for it to all pan out as it should have. Foley tells a great story about DDP first meeting Vince in 2001. they were both at the same airport, and Page just happened to see Vince before McMahon saw him. Page dropped his bags, ran right up to Vince, and embraced him in this HUGE bearhug, proclaiming "After all this time,FINALLY we're together!" while Vince stood there with a combination look of shock/disgust on his face. what makes it great is DDP was Bischoff's neighbor and good friend outside the business, and stood right next to Bischoff when he proclaimed every week that the WWF was going down.

I never knew that. That's pretty interesting.

Bagwell had a great look and character but his attitude was crap. Doesn't help that his work rate seemed to deteriorate every year he was in the business as well. I was a big fan as a kid but looking back its clear as day why he never made it in the WWF/E. He was never going to make it farther than an nWo lackey in WCW due to everyones egos but if he gave a damn in the WWF/E he probably would have done better than most guys brought over in the purchase of WCW.

I never used to like Buff. He was incredibly cheesy and annoying to me.

Speaks volumes when even his good buddy Sting couldn't get him a regular gig in TNA.......TNA like.
I think they missed a trick in WCW(shocking I know) when Buff wasn't turned face after his in jury. He had a HUGE groundswell of support there.....but when he turned on Rick? we were back to square 1.

I was one of the people who thought Buff would soar in WWE. And I always felt he should have jumped earlier like Jericho did. Looking back I think we all overrated him a bit. Because I have a feeling it didn't take much acting to act that much like a douche.
As for his release, I think he needed to be made an example out of. Show the new talent that attitudes and missing work would not be tolerated.

I was one of the people who thought Buff would soar in WWE. And I always felt he should have jumped earlier like Jericho did.. I thought he would have soared in WWF too man......and I 100% agree he SHOULD have jumped in late 99 early 2000 when he was reached out to. And that brings me to my next point......grudges were held over guys who didn't go to Vince during the MNW when they were asked to. Public Enemy & Mike Awesome were definitely 2 recipients of this childish attitude. WCW(by Heymans own admission)was offering PE & Awesome nearly 2.5 times what Vince was when he was after them. Now Awesome did most certainly f*ck up by heading to WCW instead of Vinnie....I reckon Vince would have made a big deal out of him......but I'm not sure what Vince in his creative bankruptcy would've done with PE in 1996? whereas in 1999 they COULD have contributed. Instead he allowed "loyalists"(UGH UGH UGH) Bradshaw and Holly to f*ck around with them. Buff & Kronik both elected to stay in cushy financial numbers instead of taking a risk by heading to WWF......I will always believe there was a certain amount of hurt pride still present with Vince here.

the misuse of ddp is indeed staggering, to the degree that it's a bit heart breaking how big of a boat they missed with him. i'd like to slap whoever thought up that ridiculous stalker angle. bagwell though? i never saw anything in him, thought he was really annoying, and took away from the overall product. i remember bischoff saying he wouldn't vouch for him to return to wwe because of his pill habit. and what was with the hats? like really, what was the point? whole thing was dumb and he's lucky he got spoiled with his nwo run. Funny. I rewatched DDP's debut and, while I don't recall seeing how the angle prior to the unmasking went down, I felt it was a rehash of the DDP Savage Storyline, but with DDP as Savage. Savage torments Kimberly. Page and Kimberly are revealed as Husband/Wife. It's now personal. DDP torments Sara. DDP says that in order to make an impact, you need to make it personal. If there is such a thing as wrestling continuity, I would say the stalker angle was because of what Page learned (in character) from Savage.

The only times I was ever entertained by Bagwell was when he was in GWF as Handsome Stranger and when he teamed with 2 Cold Scorpio and danced like a white guy lol
