We all know Vince McMahon want his WWE champion to be tall and strong like John Cena and Hogan more so then pure wrestling ability. I mean they both suck badly at wrestling.
Rey Mysterio was the closest thing to an underdog throughout my years of watching wrestling, but even still he did not win the WWE championship or had the opportunity to.
Does a 5'8 wrestler stand to never become a WWE champion despite having amazing wrestling ability?
I mean Mysterio has more wrestling skills than both Cena and Hogan combine and yet he won't ever touch the WWE championship.
So this beg the question how short can you actually be and still become the WWE champion in Vince McMahon eye? Meaning you can still represent the company?

I guess you kinda answered your own question with Rey Mysterio but he isn't your average worker.
Eddie Guerrero and Daniel Bryan are also fairly good examples.

Rey did become WWE champ... Well only for 2 hours but it did still count.

I guess you kinda answered your own question with Rey Mysterio but he isn't your average worker. Eddie Guerrero and Daniel Bryan are also fairly good examples. I feel like in a perfect world, Eddie Guerrero after he beat Brock Lesnar should have been the one who represent the WWE not John Cena. Who know what course the WWE would have taken had Eddie still be alive. One of the saddest WWE days for me personally. I'm not sure how tall Daniel Bryan is? However I think he taken more seriously now cause he grew a long beard. The same thing is happening with Eric Young over in TNA. Also Rey holding the WWE championship for 2 hours does not count. I'm talking about at least several months worth reign. Rey deserve more than that. I mean he went one on one with the Undertaker on more than one occasion. Vince is an idiot when it come to running his own show. I swear John Cena need to retire and do movies or something (he horrible at acting too). |

Nope, EA games still suck! Just because Cena makes a lot of money doesn't mean Cena is a talented wrestlers or is good for wrestling fans in general. Cena is good for Vince and little kids. Brock Lesnar is good for real wrestling fan. I know this is a generalization as some of you guys might like Cena. I don't because to me Cena is the definition of mediocrity. |

Look, if you can get over, are decently talented and can make Vince money than you'll get the belt. Simple as that.
That being said, Rey would have been a terrible champ and even 2 hours was too much, even 2 minutes would have sucked.

Kurt Angle is my favorite wrestler of all time but not every match he participated in was awesome. Rey Mysterio on the other hand, every single match of his is awesome. You do know that Eddie didn't want the belt don't you? He begged Vince to relieve him of the responsibility.So he COULDNT have represented the company instead of Cena.......why? he didn't want to.
Also every single Rey match is NOT awesome. He was short changed as champ yeah but when he got the belt in 06? the crowd cooled off towards him in a big way.......he simply wasn't viewed as credible. The boos weren't far off.

Cena's push to the top began @ WM20 with Vince showing supreme confidence in him as far back as Survivors Series 2003 and the Team Angle storyline. he was given the Big Show @ WM20 to defeat because he was legit over. Eddies reign was scheduled to be longer yes no doubt.....but I doubt Vince was pushing 38 year old Eddie to be his new face of the company. Now I know he was gonna win it again around the time of his death but that was due to him being a steady hand with ME experience. |
