I want to use an old black t-shirt for a mat for my hardcore ring,but i have no clue how to put it on.

ok this works very very well
get some fomies from walmart about 80cents
you need to take the plastic mat part off the base of the ring then put the foam on the top and wrap the cloth (t shirt) around the whole thing. make sure to leave holes for the parts where the mat connects to the base. than tape the extra cloth to the back of the mat.

there is also foam in the arts craft section at wal*mart that has a sticky back which I would recomend as you ca use it with out a shirt and it will still look fine since it is flat and has no wrinkles makes a beliveable mat, and you can use the shirt as aprons to cover up where the real mat is, using this method gives more of a mat look like ECW and ROH have, that tight more solid look
