The raptors ed up. I'm guessing the Raptors think they can reach the finals this year and use that success to re-sign Kawhi or lure a high profile free agent next year. LeBron may be in the West now but that hasn't cleared the way for the Raptors to rule the East. The Celtics are gonna slam the door on them in the playoffs.

As a die hard Raptors fan this one hurts. I understand why they did it though. My hope is that Leonard embraces the city. We have a great fanbase here. I think if he gives it a chance he can go great things.
I also think Derozan will enjoy playing for Pop. What bugs me is that apparently The Raptors assured Derozan he would not be traded. Then this happens.
Also on a personal note, nobody in franchise history has given The Raptors as much as Demar did. Embraced the team, city and country. Nothing but respect to him!

It's interesting to me reading so many people hating on the Raptors for this move, when just like two months ago they're calling them the Craptors and saying they'll never do anything with that core.
If Kawhi leaves than they're rebuilding a year sooner. *shrugs*

Problem with playing in Toronto is that you hear about players not liking the constant "international" travel, the currency exchange, and the tax situation due to being a U.S. citizen working in a foreign country. The Raptors and their fans have to work a little harder than most teams to make players feel welcome and loved.

Who would've thought PG3 would've stayed in OKC last year, I thought for sure he was going to LA when he became a free agent so who knows for a fact that Leonard won't do the same thing. Imo its worth the risk for the Raptors they probably wasnt gonna win the East before the trade and myself now they are just as good as Boston and have a shot at the Finals now.

Geographically Toronto isn't as far as people think. I think Toronto also has a lot of great qualities too. Nightlife, food, diversity. Hopefully Leonard comes here open minded. Maybe we can convince him.

Apparently DeMar was told he wouldn’t be traded at Summet League. Dick move by the Raps front office if that’s true. Stabbed their franchise player in the back, who easily could have left them and gone to L.A. as a FA if he wanted to, but chose to stay with them out of loyalty. Who knows if Kawhi will even play for Toronto? He already proved last year that he’s not afraid to sit out and refuse to play. Kawhi is going to the Lakers or Clippers in 2019, and the Raptors aren’t going to change that. They’re in a position where it’s finals or bust, and if they fall short of that, they'll have to rebuild.

If he shows up I think the city will embrace him.

True but I can't see Leonard sitting out the season again if he does I dont see why Lakers,Clippers or any team in the league would want him.

He's either going to have to play for the Raptors or fake an injury.

I’m sure either L.A. team will still want him regardless so this won’t really affect his 2019 free agency much.

Celtics overpaid smart too much 4yr $52M. I would’ve been ok with 3-4yr $35-42M

Celtics overpaid smart too much 4yr $52M. I would’ve been ok with 3-4yr $35-42M NBA salaries are getting so crazy. $13mil a year hardly sounds overpaid for an average NBA starter. If Smart keeps getting better, he will probably be grossly underpaid by the end of the contract.
