I really do hate Spacey and Dinklage going up against one another...easily the hardest competition so far of the tournament in my opinion...
They're both "every man" actors that just have grown to steal the show whenever they're on screen...
Damn it, man!

I had a hard time choosing a few because I don't care for some of them or haven't seen enough. But I do know I do not care for actors that are bigger than their role.
That's not to say they are bad actors, I just can't get into their movies.
Let's just take Saving Private Ryan. I don't see a solider that happens to be played by Tom Hanks. I see Tom Hanks being a soldier.
I don't like that. I like to lose myself in movies and it brings be out of that experience seeing that Tom Hanks is going to be a solider (or whatever role he does).
Again, it's not a knock against their abilities but I just can't look past who they are.

I get what you're saying -- and AGREE, actually -- but it IS a knock on their abilities to some extent, and that's alright. And here's why. If I'm directing someone, and I have to say to them "all I'm seeing is you, I'm not seeing the character you're playing" -- it's part of an actor's job to MAKE you forget that you're watching them. You're failing at the basics of your profession if I watch you act and think "Man, I don't like _______ as that part...I feel like I'm seeing him play him, not the character" That's phoning it in, and phoning in your performances can ruin an entire movie. Say what one will about Nic Cage -- there aren't many instances of him phoning it in. Every time he's on screen, he brings something different. Whether it's big budget, or indie...it's a pleasure to watch him, because his eccentricities are going to be different. And that's just who he is.

They are all regarded as some of the best actors ever. I just can't see past who they are. My favorite actors/actresses are people I don't see in tabloids or see lots of news about. I guess that just ruins it for me.

actually a very easy round. I will say though that I'm horrified by the thought that people think Dinklage is a better actor than Clint Eastwood. Just unbelievable to me. really & truly.
Also nuts that Jack Nicholson & some other greats are gone.
