Do a coat of white first before you start with the color.

Like nick said a coat of white painted on first then paint the colout you want on. it just makes it easier to paint as opposed to how your painting.

Well it might be drastic but id spray it with a white primer first or a few thin coats of white. Its a good way to start from a fresh and get a bright colour. Just make sure u dont apply the coats too thickly as ul end up with loads of paint by the time uv finished!
