To be honest, Sheamus has had so many great matches with people you would never expect, I wouldn't even be shocked if he went out there and put on a classic with Khali at this point.
D-Lo Brown and X-Pac had some highly enjoyable matches in 1998. D-Lo also had a great outing against Val Venis at SummerSlam that year. Speaking of Venis, I also remember enjoying his Steel Cage match against Rikishi.

But, to keep this on topic, I just finished Halloween Havoc 1998 and Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page put on a much better match than I expected.Absolute cracker of a bout!!! Has one of the highest replay values I've seen in a wrestling bout. In my top ten of all time. |

Edge VS. Ric Flair - Ladder Match - had no right being as good as it was....
Kevin Sullivan VS. Chris Benoit - WCW Great American Bash - I was shocked at the time, I wasn't familiar with Benoit, and hated Sullivan's work.... but this match delivered.
I have to agree with those that cited Sheamus VS Goldust - those matches were awesome!
Big Show VS. Ric Flair "Hardcore Match" - WWECW.... another unexpected match that suddenly became an instant classic....

Sheamus vs. Big Show comes to mind pretty quickly. They had some great brawls.
Also, Cena/Umaga and Cena/Khali, you know, the only decent match of Khali's entire career.

why you ask? because Cena sold for Umaga and looked beatable.

Sheamus/Big Show
Cena/Umaga
D'Lo/Val Venis
One more recently was Big E/Rusev by no means great but much better than expected.
Also Vince's matches at Mania against Hogan & HBK come to mind.

I'd say Cena vs Punk 2013 as I wasn't expecting it to be that good on free TV or with both recently coming back from injuries. |
