Where do you guys think this would've gone had HHH not got injured? What about if the invasion wasn't happening so soon after too?
I really thought this was an effective duo. If I were booking then (assuming I can't reverse Austin's heel turn) I would've gone for a Mega Powers-esque story but with 2 heels instead of faces, culminating at WM X-8. Continue feuds with the Brothers of Destruction until SummerSlam and afterwards Jericho & Benoit, with the Canadians winning the tag titles at No Mercy.
Austin loses the title clean at Survivor Series 2001 to face Jericho (who can lose it to heel ABA 'Taker at WM-X8) and starts infighting with HHH, who then dumps Austin out of the Rumble, making Austin face again. WM-X8 would be structured like WM28 - Austin-HHH in the middle (Austin goes over), 'Taker-Jericho second last and Rock-Hogan (NWO without WCW invaded RR time) the ME. Night after WCW invade and the first 5 on 5 happens at Backlash, with Jericho (still pissed he lost to 'Taker) turning and leading WCW.
So yeah, Does anyone know what Vince had planned were HHH not injured? How would you guys have done this yourselves? Only restriction is that you can't reverse Austin's heel turn at WM X-Seven.

Triple H vs Austin. The seed was planted.
'You've still got your title... But I don't have mine' Line after Triple H lost the I.C. TItle - Austin hit him with a chair.
Then they lost the tag titles.

I've heard this for years and years that Triple H was going to turn face and have a program with Steve Austin in the Summer of 2001. The spot that Kurt Angle received in the Invasion angle was meant for Triple H. As for what plans they had for Triple H in the end of 2001, we will never know. Not to sidetrack this thread but what if Triple H was around during the Invasion?

I despised Austin's heel turns.
I genuinely don't know how HHH would have fit into the Invasion as we knew it. No way he plays 2nd fiddle(like Angle did) to the Rock as the leader of Team WWF.
I really don't know......many have said HHH & Steph would have remained together. maybe HHH turns on team WWF @ Invasion?

Funny that you view Rock as the leader of the Alliance, seeing how late he joined on. And how he held the World Title throughout the whole summer, not even the major WWF Championship that was clearly viewed as the more important title. If you look like Unforgiven, I always assumed that Angle was the top guy. The only time he wasn't the top guy, was when he was fighting Booker T before the Rock showed up.

The one thing that bothered me about the whole storyline obviously leading up to Triple H/Austin is that they literally just got out of a long feud right before Wrestlemania and Austin's turn. I can't believe they would really plan for more PPV matches between the two unless they dragged it out until Wrestlemania X8. Then again, Austin had around 15 PPV encounters with the Undertaker so it's not too crazy of a thought.

Would have loved to have seen this team go longer. It would have made the Austin heel turn better. Later on they could have split and feuded, but I loved this team.
It's a shame that my favorite tag teams never last long at all: Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin Steve Austin and Triple H Edge and Jericho Even jericho and Eddie in WCW

Interesting stuff here. I'm not sure where HHH would've fit in with the Invasion stuff.

This is something that I've always been curious about. Especially since the only reason Stephanie McMahon left TV was because of Triple H's injury, so I can't see her returning as the "owner of ECW." Would ECW have been brought in at all? Would the Invasion not have been a family feud thing?

I always thought it was a set up for a HHH face turn. Even the night after X-7 when Hunter came down the ring during the main event, he got a pretty impressive pop.
Not sure how he would've played into Invasion angle itself however. Back then their booking was all over the place so not sure that even they knew what they were planning on doing.

The Two Man Power Trip should have been UT & HHH. Nobody wanted to boo Austin...and they didn't.

The Two Man Power Trip should have been UT & HHH. Nobody wanted to boo Austin...and they didn't. I would have liked this. Could have been extremely interesting. No matter what Austin and Triple H do I still see Angle getting the title at Unforgiven(?) in 2001. It just made sense with 9/11 and Angle being a somewhat patriotic character.

I think HHH would have been neutral, just beating anyone until he got the title but not joining any side.

Strangely glad this didn't happen, Austin/hhh at no way out was the perfect end to the feud. No reason to carry it on at all, they should have made more of Austin wanting the title so much to side with McMahon and hhh though.
Don't know if rock would have had the same role in invasion if hhh wasn't injured, what would angle have done too? Was a defining period for him.
Great idea for a dominating tag team that was singles champions but completely the wrong time to do it.

Think Rock would've always led the WWE. Assuming Austin led the Alliance he was definitely the natural choice. Way more over than HHH/Angle.

If rock stays the same, hhh takes angles place then angle and jericho, who both massively benefitted from this period, would suffer in my opinion.
Angle would have been demoted behind hhh most likely and jericho may not have gotten the spotlight later on.
The invasion was no where near the best storyline but it did push angle and jericho to the main event properly.
