Just was thinking it'd be pretty sweet if Mattel took a more permanent step towards throwing us some variants attire wise with the elite series,like mcfarlane does with their sports lines. It would give a little something more to the collectors, and create even more excitement with the line.

 Things like this will make the Mattel line just like Jakks and to me that's not a good thing by any stretch in my opinion. Jakks had over-saturation to the highest degree possible. There were far too many figures, too many exclusive editions, variants, and the such, really... "employee editions" of 20? Go screw. The more Mattel appeases to collectors like that, the more they'll run the risk of over-saturation the collectors market and really wanting to make collectors give up. Also, by wasting time and money on variants, then they're going to go with the quantity over quality method and well again, look at Jakks, they have some really awful looking figures, they also have a few good ones I won't lie, but to me they're mostly awful. If a company comes out and purposely makes limited editions and things of that nature then its no longer fun, its just you feeding the machine and allowing them to do that. Its completely different if a variant happens organically, but a willing variant just for collectors or to get people to buy more is a total dick move. |

Mattel makes enough stupid variants that don't make sense in the hot wheels line such as a Maroon Buick Grand National or a Purple Dodge Lil Red Express
