What about Family themed sets such as the Ortons, the Hennigs, Rikishi and the Usos, the Rock's family, the Rhodes, the McMahons?! That could be fun... That would be awesome and it's a shame we don't have any $30 trios outside of the random *ss Kmart 3 packs. I would love to see NWA Dusty, WCW Dustin, and Cody in green perhaps? I think themed three packs would go over really well, and basics with backdrops/accessories like Piper's Pit or Funeral Parlor at $20 could be pretty cool as well. I second this... a THOUSAND TIMES OVER!

Speaking of Elites, that is one thing that bothers me about the prices of Mattel's figures. Going off the beaten path of this thread for a moment, because I know nothing like this would ever happen with Elites, but WHY do Elites cost so much more than the basic figures in the first place? I know that most come with extra accessories and such, but what about the ones that don't? Not sure which series, but there was an Ultimate warrior figure that came out a while back that had NO accessories and was explained as having extra paint apps which warranted the title of Elite?! What?! Should extra paint make the figure cost that much more?! Why do Elites cost so much more anyway... no matter which? Do a few extra accessories, which probably cost around 20 cents extra to make, make a figure cost THAT much more? Extra articulation?! That shouldn't warrant the extra price either. I know that in some stores the Elites cost almost twice as much as basic, but why? An extra shirt? An extra joint or two?! I don't see it.

Some 3 packs would be cool if it was like Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart or Mega Maniacs (Hogan and Beefcake) and Jimmy Hart or a Hardy Boys and Lita or all 3 Dudleys (Bubba,Devon and Spike) but I dont expect this to ever happen no but it would be cool if it did.

Of course more paint will cost more money, also extra articulation does cost more because of the extra pieces that have to be made and put together.

I actually know a guy who works in molding and plastics and he has told me, when I posed a similar question to him, that it doesn't cost much more at all to produce three little pieces than one larger one... such as, making a bicep, an elbow, and a forearm, wouldn't cost much more than making one large single cast arm. I don't know personally, so I am just going on someone else's viewpoint, and I am sure he doesn't make toys lol, but I figure he would know more than I. The extra paint... I can see it costing a little more, but how much more could a little paint cost? Machines are used to paint these figures right (not like Hot Toys and such that are hand painted), so how much more could it take for that machine to make a couple more passes? Enough to warrant double the cost of the basics? Doesn't make sense to me, but like a famous philosopher once said... "I am not a smart man..."

It's the actual paint that costs more, colourful colours cost more to use than black or white.

Ah... I see... Thanks for the education! lol Being a professional artist, you'd think I'd know more about color and such. Funny... I only work in black and white though, so I can claim ignorance on this one.

I was just sitting here thinking about some of the cool old box sets of figures that Jakks did and was wondering if Mattel will ever do anything similar, or if there is even demand for them. I know Mattel has done various 6 (I think) figure sets that I have seen at my local Walmart, but I am talking about the themed sets that jakks did. There were Hulk Hogan three packs, Championship 4 packs, PPV four packs, even packs with one figure but multiple accessories (I remember having a Stone Cold set back in the Bone Crunchin' days), etc. I remember there had even been talk about a McMahon Family set... even though I think that one was scrapped. I loved these and it gave collectors a chance to get some pretty cool figures along with new accessories. A lot of these box sets also came with various styles of championship belts that I think most Mattel collectors would like to have a shot at. Just wanted to guage collectors' opinions on muti packs... I think managers would do well with these sets as well. Think about some of the jakks ones and tell me you wouldn't want Mattel to do the same... LOD 200 with Sunny (or even better (and one that jakks never did) LOD with Precious Paul Ellering), Jimmy Hart with the Hart Foundation, Bobby Heenan with any number of his tagteams... There are endless possibilities! So, in short, I guess I am just asking if anyone else would be interested in these multi figure packs that I used to love. There was just something about seeing those boxes on the shelves with three or four figures in it that got me excited and always made me feel like I was getting more for my money, or something truly special. I only read bits and I agree but remember Mattel did 6 basic Rey's

How much were some of the aforementioned Jakks sets back in the day? I'd be all for it if Mattel could come in similar to the price. I really like tag team sets that come together. Like the Rockers. The CS3-Packs were $29.98 at WalMart. And they were Jakks basic figures RA styled figures. Elite would cost alot more than $30. Which is what I think KMart charges for the Basic 3-Packs.

Ya that's true, I think the basic box sets are indeed $30. I could only imagine the elite cost. If it was done right and marketed properly and was distributed among many stores it could sell well but it'll more than likely never happen I'm sure.

I'd like to see an NWO 3-pack or even a "Box Set" of sorts. It doesn't work as a reoccurring product imo but for something special like an NWO set I definitely think it would be cool.
In terms of like the old champions packs, no thanks. Basic figures with dull belts isn't really something that interests me. If they were to include a manager, so like the NOD set, then I could see myself buying something like that but as has been said, those 6 and 7 packs are weak sauce.

I was pretty happy with "The Shield" 3-pack they did last year..... I'd settle for more sets like this! Too bad the K Mart 3 packs are typically a nonsensical combination of shelf warmers - I guess they just lucked out on this one. I still can't find that anywhere. I refuse to pay eBay prices.

The mankind figure is like $14 right? Put 5 figures in a box set it costs $70 plus you're selling as a box set so take like $5 off and $65 dollars, and the cool packaging would attract kids!
but release it near Christmas so it will sell better.
