Because Roman Reigns is awful at everything except the hot tag?
This is the equivalent of pushing Jim Neidhart over Bret.

Orton vs reigns IMO is just match filler just so these two can have a match at Summerslam.I'm REALLY not interested in this match to me this is just a simple "I'm gonna beat you up because you beat me up" type of feud. The feud is just simply wack to me Hell brie vs Stephanie is more interesting than this.

The match felt like a big deal when Orton attacked Reigns. Last Monday, I don't think they ever interacted with each other. I bet they'll have another match at Night of Champions, with HHH facing Reigns at Hell in a Cell.

Because people hate Randy and are starting to really hate Roman. So even if they put on a 5 star match, they'll still complain about how awful they are. Roman Reigns having a 5 star match lol. He is awful, WWE are playing it safe putting him with Orton to see if Orton can carry him and teach him a thing or two before H goes out there and embarrasses himself. Don't worry though, the H match will come anyway, even if the fans turn on Reigns. Not like WWE would care.

There are people online who strongly dislike him. So far that's about it.

And if they have, how much of the time was he taking an ass whopping to rest? He can't work and that is what crowds care about, once they see he's a glorified generic big guy they'll turn. As I said, WWE will plug their ears and push him anyway so I don't know why I even bother.

Wasn't this match done to death on RAW/SmackDown, during The Shield's heel and face runs?
I feel like we've seen this at least 3-4 times, already. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, Hunter was the logical opponent for Roman at SummerSlam.

This is 2014, fans have changed and want talent. If Goldberg debuted today he'd be Ryback 2.0.

Randy Orton isn't the most dynamic, interesting personality on the show. He was kind of buried by his title reign, which was really all about pushing a Daniel Bryan vs Triple H feud and a Big Show vs Triple H feud. Orton was basically to Bryan-HHH what The Miz was in The Rock-John Cena story. That, plus his dull going-through-the-motions performances, kind of killed any interest in him. And that's still being felt today, because this SummerSlam match is total placeholder until Reigns vs Triple H kicks in for the next PPVs, and I think people can see through that. It comes off as forced and false. Orton has been putting in some more interesting performances the last few weeks, but too little too late. That's pretty much it. Not to mention, there are simply far more interesting angles and matches on the show. Let's be honest, this is one of the most "complete" cards we've seen in a long time. On a normal show, it would probably be a bigger deal, but, considering every match on the card has a fair amount of build, it's pretty easy for this one to get lost in the shuffle. The story is about H/Reigns, anyway, as previously mentioned. This just kind of feels like Reigns taking out the "cronies" first.

It's like you're just ignoring me, they like him for now because he's protected by hot tags/short matches.

I see where you're coming from. Reigns is not ready, and Orton isn't doing much to elevate Reigns to make him look strong in this feud... So, it doesn't help Reigns at all. He'll win at Summerslam, and I'll be shocked if he loses. I just wish WWE had the same mentality of making mid card, and lower card matches just as, or close to important as the main event. However, Summerslam's card this year is actually well done. Other PPV's, not so much.

Because of Part-timer Brock Lesnar both of them are taking a backseat. There's no other reason. That's it. Don't think about it to hard They're taking a backseat to Stephanie and Brie Bella too.

For me it's mainly because it feels like the two of them have been fighting each other for the last 9 months... I can't recall a memorable one-on-one match from them but it's old hat. As others have said, I was more interested in a HHH vs. Roman match, assuming we'll see it eventually though. I'm not really confident for Roman to have a "great" match with anyone yet, but HHH would have helped. Orton has good matches with other good guys but doesn't really elevate other people like H did/does.
The other frustrating thing is that it feels like literally every storyline feels like it's been in a holding pattern for the past 2-3 months leading to Summerslam. Brock/Cena seems exciting cause we haven't seen them interact 40 times this summer.
EDIT: ... and to everyone arguing about whether Reigns is "over" or not, stop it. He doesn't have Cena reactions. A select few "smark" types on the entertain give him heat but the majority of the audience cheers him. He's very clearly supplanted Sheamus as WWE's choice as the next face behind Cena.

Summerslam is a mostly stacked card overall. The attention is really to everything, not one particular.
I'm looking forward to the match, time for Reigns to prove something to everyone. We'll see what happens after it's over.

The match and feud, neither, have been developed very well. Reigns needs a big time match. And an opponent like Orton is just that. However, nothing has really been brewing between the 2 on Raws/SD. Its basically Reigns vs. Orton. They arent feuding over a title, bitter hate, turning on The Shield, hurting one's family, respect, etc. They are just having a match.....because.
