Did Steph just want to have a match? Is it to keep the Bryan storyline relevant? It hasn't been bad, I just don't really understand why it's getting such a high profile.

I guess they think it'll be a draw or something. IMO it's insanely boring and should be swapped for a US or tag title match.

I think it was an easy opportunity to create (what they thought would be) a decent high profile feud. IMO however they have been getting way more time than the feud deserves. It was fine for what it was but then it was overexposed by putting it in main event slots on Raw.
I don't think it has anything to do with Bryan anymore, when he comes back probably early next year I doubt the Bryan/Authority angle will still be going on by then.

I'm guessing to keep the Bryan storyline active. I'm hoping this feud doesn't go on too much longer.

I'm really enjoying it. Nice to see the women get decent storylines for a change.

Casual fans eat this stuff up. WWE needs more casual fans to sign up for WWE network. Hence the match.

Stephanie's the best heel on the show, and can use that to keep Bryan in people's minds and to try and get Brie Bella over. Plus Stephanie is one of the most over characters on the show and hasn't wrestled in years, so it adds a hell of a lot of novelty to the SummerSlam card.

because it makes a change from the usual I.C/U.S title match in which we see 2 random people fight with no storyline purpose.

Is there a better heel on the roster currently than Stephanie? The answer is no. Yes, Brie is a terrible actress but it's an opportunity to get her more over and it can help to get casual viewers of Total Divas to check it out. Total Divas is partially why my girlfriend became a fan and now she watches weekly with me for the most part.
Also, with the exception of the Claire Lynch/Megan storyline, it has been built pretty well.

It's been said but...
Steph has heat. Tons of it. I'd dare to say that Steph and Heyman are the top 2 heels in the company and they aren't even active wrestlers.
They have been building this for months. Why not make a blowoff match out of it? How else would you end it really?
I actually really liked the storyline until that God-awful segment last week on Raw ripped right from TNA headlines.
Plus, Steph might pop out.

I thought the storyline was perfectly fine without the Claire Lynch crap.

Did Steph just want to have a match? Is it to keep the Bryan storyline relevant? It hasn't been bad, I just don't really understand why it's getting such a high profile. Brie Bella is the real-life wife of Daniel Bryan while Stephanie McMahon is the real-life wife of Triple H. Triple H and McMahon are the leaders of the heel stable The Authority and they despise both Bryan and Bella in the process.

Keeping Bryan in the fans minds although I think its only so long they're gonna be able to do it... I don't think they need to keep Daniel Bryan "fresh" in the minds of the fans. He'll be on Total Divas this season, but even without that, fans will remember him. He could be gone for a year and the fans will pop hard for his return.

He'll be on Total Divas this season, but even without that, fans will remember him. He could be gone for a year and the fans will pop hard for his return. I'm not so sure, he's been outta the picture for over 3 months, and with his second surgery coming up giving him another 3 months off, plus time getting back into ring shape. And there's nothing to say a) he wont need a 3rd surgery. b) he heals slow as he did after his first. with that aside, say he takes this second surgery heals at a normal speed, he's gonna be back for November for the TLC PPV, Unless Reigns is injured then WWE are likely to be building him up to win the Royal Rumble, or atleast making a serious bid for the WWE title come wrestlemania. Triple H and the Authority (if they're still around) will more than likely be playing a big part in chasing / protecting the WWE title. The only person free of any storyline would probably be Kane by the time he gets back, and I cant see them reviving a dead storyline from 6 months ago... I just think so much will happen in the space of Bryan being off that storylines will move on without him and he'll get lost in the shuffle when he returns, there's only so many PPV's they can have Daniel Bryan influenced matches on before people lose interest. EDIT: I dont wanna be that guy to make everything sound negative, I really hope I'm wrong, I think what Bryan had what made the boom era of wrestling what it was, fans that loved a guy, and actually had a "hero"
