I grew up watching WCW starting in the early 90s, and making that my main wrestling program until its demise. Even today, I can't get behind the WWE, even though I watch it occasionally.
Now that Mattel is making an amazing Sting figure, I am going to resume collecting, and start collecting Mattel figures. I haven't bought a figure since my entire Jakks collection was stolen many years ago (2006). As I'm 30 years old, I won't be collecting every figure known to man, but just choice ones. I could use some help.
I only want to collect figures of wrestlers from my youth. As a WCW fan, I feel that the two must haves would be the DM Ric Flair even though it's from his WWF days, and the Black and White Sting as Sting and Flair epitomized the best of WCW. My next question is though, which others should I get?
If they come out with a Goldberg, I think I'm going to get him. I want a Scott Hall, but not too high on the Kevin Nash figure. I want a Savage, but am unsure if I should do a DM Savage or NWO Elite Flashback Savage. DDP, while a fan, is not on my wants for some reason, and until they make a WCW Luger (black trunks and white boots), I'm not grabbing him. I'm not even considering a Hogan unless its nWo style.
So, as of now, my questions are:
1) If they make a Hall, I'd feel weird not having a Nash. Is the Outsider Nash worth picking up right now? 2) Which Savage should I get? Part of me wants the nWo version, but I think the more iconic one is the Legends Series 5 or DM one--even though I wasn't alive for the Legends Series 5 era, and didn't watch WWF for the DM moments. 3) Even though I'm only looking to pick up my favorite wrestlers, do you think a Legends DDP is worth it? I enjoyed his battles against the nWo, but was never a Page fan. I only liked him because of Kimberly. 4) Is a classic Hogan (the one seen from the SDCC) worth picking up if you only saw Hogan first wrestle during his WCW run? I knew of him for a while, but never watched wrestling until he came to WCW. When I initially started watching wrestling (first match was Sting v. Flair where Sherri interferred and cost Sting the match), I assumed that it was the only wrestling program out there, and Hogan would be on there.

1. Yes, but be prepared to drop $60 or more on E16 Nash unless you can find a member on the classifieds who will give you a deal. 2. Since you're a big WCW mark, go for nWo Savage. 3. Yes 4. Regardless if you preferred WCW or WWE, Hogan's 80's run is the most memorable run of any wrestler. so I'd say yes.

Should have also asked, aside from those figures, any others in existence right now that I should be looking for?

I would get Kevin Nash as soon as possible, because if and when Scott Hall releases, the price would probably double for Kevin Nash. I bought a MOC Kevin Nash a few months ago for 68 shipped from ebay. And by looking at it now its floating around that price still. It seems to be floating around 30-40 for loose as well.

Are you collecting loose or mint?
Theres a WCW Rey Mysterio in elite 32 the title is wwe crusierweight, but the attire is WCW, and less tattoos

I'm not looking for loose. If Mysterio came with the WCW Cruiserweight title, I'd bite on it. Good suggestion though,

I too am a big fan of the wcw during the 90's, but I am 6 years older so I followed wwf before that. The giant is a must for wcw, in addition to what you have mentioned. I got nwo savage, DM savage, and legends Hogan was in wcw in yellow and red so he can fit in DDP is also a must buy I was too late on Nash and refuse to pay over $60, so I'll be without him until another wcw Nash is made GET VADER Arn Anderson maybe? Pray for Harlem heat and steiners

Unless I find him cheap, that's a no. I was never a fan of his until after his wrestling days were over and I realized how stupid I was for not being fans of certain bad guys because without them, wrestling would have been horrid. I was never a fan of Flair. I loved watching him get beat. It's only within the last 10 years that I realized that I had been a fan of his, but just never rooted for him. Without certain villains, certain guys would have never been stars.

That's all it takes, one figure that sparks your interest and then all of a sudden you just cant stop buying. For me that figure was Jakk's Ultimate Warrior from the first Classic's line up. I saw it on pegs at Walmart and I was amazed. It had articulation and those cool cloth tassels. It blew my old Hasbros/LJNs away. So I got the Warrior and Andre. Then I just kept getting guys I liked but eventually I wanted the others as well to compliment the guys I liked. 1 Nash is pretty expensive, I feel that the price will eventually drop. It's just up to you, how badly do you want a Nash to go along with Hall? 2 If you were mostly a fan of WCW then there should be no doubt, get the NWO Savage. RSC had it available loose not too long ago for 9 dollars. That's prob the best price you'll find online. 3 Of course! Pick up DDP, he was part of the WCW title lineage. I was never really a fan of his back in the day either. These days though, going off of what I've seen online, he seems like a cool guy. 4 Why wouldnt you want the Hogan? Hogan first went to WCW wearing the Red and Yellow attire, so yes his attire is classic Hogan, but he did wear that for a time in WCW.

If you're wanting a WCW collection then patience is the game. They have so few WCW figures out and the only one on the horizon is the Rey Mysterio. A Hollywood Hogan would be a safe bet, but nWo Luger is probably not. Unless a Legends line returns we are all stuck with 1-2 Flashbacks per wave.
I recommend the nWo Giant. I will also say that I wasn't sold on Kevin Nash at first but now I love that figure and he has become one of the cornerstones of my collection.

If you want the Four Horseman, Tully and Arn are a must. But good luck finding these guys at decent price..the tag belts that come with both made their prices sky rocket. I still kick myself for not picking them up off of mattycollector.

Not to get in a debate about Hogan, but I don't think I was ever a Hogan fan. Yeah, I loved seeing him beat Flair, and feud with Vader and Sting, but I was always more excited about the prospect of meeting Sting and wearing his corny 90s era shirts than the red and yellow. Even in the nWo days, I never bought a shirt unless Sting was on it. Hogan, like Ultimate Warrior, was just a name to me. It's nostalgic, but I wouldn't say I was a real fan--although I remember being so pissed when he turned and joined Hall and Nash.
