the ME of Backlash 2000 had EVERYTHING.
1)Vince gets the crowd riled up by telling them "card subject to change and there will be no Austin"
2)Rock has the deck stacked against him in an unreal fashion
3)Rock & HHH light up the ring with crisp exciting exchanges and selling excellence. The crowd is 100% behind Rock as he is at the absolute height of his popularity here.
4)The timing....oh the timing....as the odds overwhelm the Rock the crowd realises Austin WILL be here and start foaming at the mouth for him as chants of "we want Austin" dominate.
5)Austin arrives.....and the place explodes. His intereference is portrayed as a equaliser and doesn't take away from Rocks victory at all.......just like Mankind vs Rock on Jan 4th 1999.
Christ it was PERFECT. F*ck it....I'm gonna watch now.

My Point exactly is that Austin. Rock and Triple H all got their start at the New Generation. Austin became the 1996 King of The Ring and then a year after Triple H takes the crown. The Rock came close to winning the 1998 King of The Ring. Both of them were former Intercontinental Champions. There would've been a perfect time for the Attitude Era to have a Triple Threat Match between the three of them. Sure Rock and Triple H shared their part in 2000 when Austin was gone. Their matches in 1997 through 2002 blew the house down. There was times when the matches was good, some of them was bad. The Good Match I thought of their rivalry together was top 3. The Ladder Match at Summerslam. The Leather Strap Match at Fully Loaded and The Ironman Match at Judgment Day. Those are the top three candidates I would choose from The Rock vs Triple H.

I really thought that Austin wouldn't need to use the stunner cause of his neck injury and he just got out of spinal surgery for 3 months. Certainly he wouldn't use the stunner cause if he did, that would've hurt his neck even more. And Vince was teasing the crowd cause of what Austin did to the DX Express Bus three days prior to that match.

I'm glad wm17 went with the one on one matchup. Another time they could have done this triple threat was at no mercy 99. Austin was in no shape to compete alone and rock could have taken pressure off of him.

Its widely known Austin was f*cked after Fully loaded 1999 in July......you can see it in by how little he wrestled from July to his departure.
