I think the figure looks more like Mick from his 2004 match with Orton. He was very lean for that match.

Both figures are great. Can't go wrong with either, IMO.

I got him for 14.99 on black Friday, and if I didn't I wouldn't have ever bought it. I prefer Mankind.

The answer is simple: because it is in the Mattel style and scale which is insanely popular right now. Taste is subjective. Maybe the Jakks one is better, maybe not, but it simply isn't to style nor scale with Mattel. That is all.

I didn't really like that face, but the figure looks pretty cool!

All it needs is a flannel shirt and a barbed wire bat. But I'm happy with it...

I wouldn't say it's great but it's a pretty solid figure. I don't know what it's running for but it isn't always the quality of the figure but the fact that they are no longer being produced. This always happens with solid figures that suddenly become "great" figures just because they are no longer in production.
I guess to answer your question, because it's a the only Mattel Cactus Jack. No other reason, really.

The Mattel figure is supposed to be based on Royal Rumble 2000. The Royal Rumble in which, I feel, HHH was so jealous of the match Mic Foley had with the Rock at RR1999 that he asked Vince to repeat the match with Mic and HHH to try and get HHH over like the Rock was.So much wrong in just one sentence. It's... the perfect storm of wrong-ness. My God, you've killed us all.

Fast foward one year and HHH is having almost the same identical match with Cactus. They did so many of the same spots. What really stuck out to me is they did the exact same spot where they Hand Cuff Mic Foley. My wife laughed and asked me why they would do the exact same thing two years in a row, she isnt a wrestling fan. All I could say is Nepotism, HHH wanted to have the same match just so he wouldnt be left behind.

I think the scan is great, and I love the way they sculpted the hair. He's a tad thin sure, but the arms were a solid choice and I like the attention to detail. I wanted to flush out my statements better. Not only do I think the scan is "great" but I think it's better and I generally prefer a more neutral scan. The hair also looks better, and more accurate to me. Although the arms on the Mattel might be a tad generous in definition, the size is nice and I love the scar. I prefer the look of the molded shirt in this case. Also that figure has the 1 of 3000, correct? I'd never want that on a figure.

Both the CS19 and Toyfare Cactus Jack figures were Jakks best ever figures until the RSC American Sting, but Mattel's is also one if Mattel's best as well.
As for the match I enjoyed the match with Triple H far more than I had with any Rock match. Hell the NYC Street fight match is one of my all time favorites along with the '90 GAB Sting vs Flair, WMIX Steiner's vs Headshrinkers. I can watch all three of those matches daily.

So in that 1 year's time Mick prob thought of ways to improve the match. Plus HHH prob watched the match with Rock and also thought of things he would want to do diff or in addition. It's easy to say something new is better then last years. The new thing built on what was already available. That applies to the Matches and to the figures.

Really didn't matter who his opponent was. But that is most likely due to Foley's limitations than it is someone trying to copy the Rock/Mankind match.

Really didn't matter who his opponent was. But that is most likely due to Foley's limitations than it is someone trying to copy the Rock/Mankind match. Really? That I know of there are only two wwe matches in which Mick Foley ends up with his hands cuffed behind his back. One is RR 1999 against Rock, and the other was exactly one year later at the same ppv RR 2000 against HHH. True most of Foley's matches follow the same formula but there are certain spots which are symbolic of a ppv. Mick was hand cuffed for the first time in a wwe match against the Rock at RR 1999. One year later, prob due to Nepotism and HHH Ego the spot was duplicated at RR 2000. Then another famous Mick Foley spot is when Undertaker threw him off of the Cell and then Through the Cell roof. Again, due to Nepotism and HHH ego these spots were stolen/mimicked/imitated by HHH at the Hell in a Cell match with Mick Foley at the No way out ppv of 2000. At No Way out 2000 again HHH stole someone's match as he threw Foley off of the side of the Cell, and then later drove Foley through the top of the cell down onto the ring below. You say there is a formula to his matches, and I agree, but you have to admit it's too much of a coincidence that HHH would be the one guy to repeat some memorable spots with Mick. Mick had already been cuffed, and thrown off of a Cell so im sure these spots were all an idea to try and get HHH over as a main event guy.

I love mattels version but yes, Mattel could've taken some notes from jakks. Jakks bang bang hand sculpt is epic, the cactus jack cloth shirt is better and the scan has that maniacal look that captures his character. Only thing Mattel wins is the articulation, but even the rubber shirt limits that. So your choice isn't bad at all, some just tends to praise Mattel and give them too much credit. It's all just preference. Yes, and Mattel has their share of mistakes, but to play devils advocate, there has been a lot of unnecessary "Jakks at all costs" Mattel bashers creeping over to this board lately as well..

Mattel fanboys easily getting butthurt on these boards lately as well.
