Both the RRP and the general size of the MK Storm figures seems to keep increasing. The scale inconsistencies really bother me, bosses aside, both the height and build thickness of the regular sized figures seems to keep creeping up, the MK3 style ninjas look ridiculous next to the original MK1/MK2 style ninjas. Though the fact that the boxes are all labelled 1:12 scale (i.e. 6-inch) when the line has been 1:10 scale (i.e. 7-inch) since day one I guess shows that Storm has never quite given enough attention to scale. I would suspect it's just carelessness in not ensuring the scale is correct during sculpting, and a "bigger is better" mindset by sculptors in the moment constantly trying to "one-up" previous figures, and not thinking ahead to the resulting inconsistency in the line.
Still though, I am thankful that Storm is leading the way in building a full roster of MK characters in figure form, after so many other companies have followed the "Scorpion, Sub-Zero, a few others, and then give up" approach... Hopefully they can keep the line going for a long time and actually complete the rosters from the classic games (MK1,MK2,MK3+updates) at least, and personally I hope they get chance to go into background characters and rumor characters, or even concept characters and comic characters. I'm hesitant to ask for characters from later games, as it could quite easily distract too much focus, and they'll end up not finishing the classic game rosters (similar to how DC Direct never completed their Batman Animated Series roster because they kept getting distracted doing spin-offs e.g. Batman Beyond, Superman TAS, Justice League, etc)

It might take another fifteen years because of the way they release figures, but I'm in for it all. Even Stryker.

just ordered! is it me or is the price of that WAY higher than the others used to be? It did seem more expensive than previous ninjas. I just checked and yeah, my UMK3 Sub-zero was 75 before tax and shipping. But there’s a range beteeen about 75-90 for the standard figures, looking back at my orders. Everything is going up, so I liken this to Elites, Ultimate Editions, and Marvel Legends going up recently, too.

I have to say after Assassin mentioned how the new Scorpion and upcoming Sub-Zero have different bodies, I looked back at the original ninjas that were released. Holy crap the original ones are so much better. I can’t even look at the Mortal Kombat 11 classic ones now. They’re horrible.
The original more triangular shaped ones are superior in every way. I know that some of the older ones have quality control issues, but I don’t care. I’m tracking them down. Mortal Kombat 2 is my favorite game of all time and there’s just no way I can let the Mortal Kombat 11 classic crap looking versions replace them. But my goodness is my wallet taking a hit.
I love you.

I'm thinking of getting out of Storm MK series. I only own Shao Kahn, Goro, Baraka, Raiden, with Kintaro and Lao preordered. Tired of waiting on you know A female and more non ninja/cyborg.

Yo if you decide to sell I basically need all of those guys lol. The wait for figures is definitely frustrating. And now they're doing figures based on the movie? The waits are going to get even longer.

The lack of MK females is annoying, especially given that Kitana and Mileena were shown almost 4 years ago. I love you.

Very conflicted about whether to get the new Reptile or not.
I skipped the first two UMK3 ninjas because they just look… bad. The Gi is inaccurate. Too triangular at the bottom. There should have been more space between the colored sides. The heads are also way off. The masks look odd and the head is almost too small. And generally speaking they just have this strange cartoony look to them. Such a far cry from the OG ninjas they made before.
That being said, Reptile looks the best of the 3 of them so far and his OG look is just beyond frustrating to find, let alone afford. I also hear that the newer ninjas do not have anywhere near the same quality control issues that the original ones do. Decisions decisions.
I love you.

I got it because Reptile is my #1 favorite MK character. I never even knew about or had a chance to get the original Storm one and will not pay the secondary market price its at now. MK Trilogy on PlayStation was one of my favorite games and this look for him kinda matches that game anyway So to me, this Reptile is a definitive look and good enough for me to want to own it. So I'll be happy with this Reptile, he will go nicely alongside my Storm Cyrax, and I look at it this way....if any company ever ended up making MK movie figs (the original 1st movie) and they made Reptile from that? I'd gladly buy that and sell this storm one down the road because it will always hold value.

People could have funded two Mattel ring project orders with what one of those figures costs new. It doesn’t change my opinion though of the MK3 ninjas. They look off. Although, for some reason Reptile looks decent. I may get him 🤷♂️ I don’t know what the future holds… but I do know that I LOOOOOOVVVEEEEE YYOOOUUUUUU

Although Conrad can be annoying sometimes. And I do feel like Bruce holds back and isn’t completely honest in some cases. And now that he’s back with WWE, those issues won’t get any better. But overall I enjoy it. I like Jim Cornette’s podcast as well. But again like the first one they can annoy me sometimes. It’s like anything else. Most of the time it’s enjoyable, but then there’s other times where I’m like oh you both. Anyways just to make sure there’s still some MK talk in this post… I completed the OG ninjas, but I’m already thinking about selling them off. There’s a couple I haven’t opened and I’m afraid they’re going to break because apparently they had a ton of quality control issues. But my bigger fear is that they are going to re-release them and then all this absurd money I spent will hurt even more… And honestly that makes me even more conflicted because I’ve always been a supporter of re-releases. I feel like everybody should have the opportunity to get what they want at a fair price. But now I’m a hypocrite because I spent so much money getting the OG ninjas I want to keep them sacred. But it goes against what I believe.. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the agony. I love you.

But it goes against what I believe.. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the agony I've got all the original MK1/MK2 style ninjas, multiples in some cases, the only issues I've had was Sub-Zero's head being a little loose (still holds it's position though and doesn't fall off when set up in a display or anything) and Ermac's neck piece being assembled a little misaligned. Never had any other issues, though I don't play with them or anything (can't imagine many people would at these prices). Also now they have the MK3 style ninja mold AND the MK11 Klassic ninja mold, I really can't see them ever returning to the original MK1/MK2 style ninja mold ever again. Why would they? While the MK1/MK2 style is more accurate to the original games and is better proportioned, Storm won't share that opinion or they wouldn't have invested in the new MK11 Klassic mold. As far as they're concerned the MK11 Klassic one is an upgrade, and I would seriously doubt they've even realized the MK11 Klassic look isn't totally accurate to the original games. While I would have loved a Chameleon, Tremor, "invisible" Reptile in clear plastic, Oniro, Red Robin, etc in the original mold, and some re-releases for other collectors to bring the prices down too, unfortunately it just ain't gonna happen. I hope I'm wrong but I honestly don't think there's much chance man. My advice is keep the MK1/MK2 style figures, as I said I haven't had any issues and they look so much better than the MK3 ones or the MK11 ones. Your choice but being a massive fan of the original MK games I gotta show my support for the original ninja style.

I've enjoyed all the MK releases so far. The UMK3 ninjas are the worst of the bunch for me, but even being the "least good" doesn't mean they're not still really nice figures. I know there are some accuracy issues, but the figures will hold up over time WAY better than the V1 ninjas. After doing a bunch of animation with the original ones, my Scorpion and Reptile can barely stand up because of loose legs from the QC and flawed design, so they're relegated to simple display poses. And while the MK11 Klassic look isn't EXACTLY like the MKII look, it's close enough for me to be perfectly happy with it.
I guess the big dilemma people have is whether they want the spot-on accurate figures at the expense of QC issues that the newer figures won't have.
While I'm nit-picking, I'm still a little confused why they used the MK1/MKII ninja body for Ermac and Rain, when their first appearance would have been on the UMK3 style look. The answer is money, obviously, since now they'll get me to buy a newer Rain and Ermac down the line.
All that aside, I preordered Reptile. To me, the mask was the worst part of UMK3 Sub-Zero and Scorpion, but Reptile's mask is a better mold that looks more like his in-game character select screen. Plus that green really pops, and the accessories are great too.

Reptile for some reason looks miles better than MK III Scorpion and Sub-Zero. I thought maybe it was the normal eyes and color. But a new mask mold makes it make more sense. EDIT: It is a new mold! The mask is a lot less pointy on the corners. Makes a huge difference. If only they fixed the Gi as well… I love you.

Man I wish they would re-release the UMK Scorpion and Sub-Zero with that new mask mold they made for Reptile.
The ones they have now look AWFUL.
I love you.

I was playing MK Trilogy on 64 tonight and noticed Sub-Zero's versus screen mask is different than the player select mask. The versus screen is like the new UMK Reptile figure, while the player select is kind of its own thing. I've always liked the player select one best, with the deeper grooves and rounded edges. It kind of looks like three parts attached to make one whole piece. I'd love a figure with it and pupils in his eyes.
