Hey thanks for checking out my custom. This is my first "complete" custom... I've done many fixups, repaints, part-swaps, whatever. This is an elite version of my BWF (Banter Wrestling Federation) character from the banter community here. KeBen Owens @benurich @blaze12341 @monoxide23 @jwanderson Colter slappy @rowdyraider dylan @brickandyozen
This is the character I was working off (The head is defiantly different than what I went for--which I ended up making more like myself).
The torso, forearms and upper legs are all from Curtis Axel. The shoulders and upper arms are from JBL (and head--not pictured). The lower legs and kickpads are from D Bry. What I ended up doing with the kickpads are definitely my most unique touch.
I wanted to create a set of kick pads that have that "wrapped" look (see top WWE2k14 pic) that Mattel has never really done.
First thing I did was snip the kneepads in the back by 1/4 inch or so, and pull them down onto the kickpad. I glued them down. This created a "safe-zone" (for lack of a better term) which would still allow a little rotation from the bottom of the calf piece. Next I'd use putty and build up from the kneepad (maybe 1/4 inch taller) and smooth out everything from where I glued and around the kickpad.
By this point I also added the head and sculpted some extra hair (I do kind of a big filp of my hair to one side). I sculpted grooves into the putty on the pads to give the impression of wraps, and I sanded everything down.
I was moderately happy with how the additional hair turned out, but I ended up doing some extra work on it after this photo.
After I primed the whole thing white, I painted the boots Yellow and Green. Here you can see that I left room in the back of the leg so they still have pretty much free range of movement. It's not really as accurate, but I didn't want to lose that movement and it still looks pretty good.
Next I blocked off the areas to paint the extended armwraps.
I painted the hair and "Doc Holiday" style facial hair. Turned out pretty well.
Here's a shot of the wraps and the side of his head with the newly sculpted and painted hair.
I then did the trunks. All freehand. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
Final shot there. Different angle. Happy with how it all turned out. Looking forward to the next attempt 'cause I already know how I can take the boots to the next level and make them more clean.
This was all kind of an experiment for me and I'm happy with how it turned out on the whole. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions or give advice or tips. If you feel a burning desire to give me tips feel free to offer it up. I'm not really looking for it, but I'm pretty good at taking advice in turn
Thanks for looking.
Oh, and just for fun... here's me doing a promo for the character on Saint.
