Absolutely senseless to get upset about Hideo Itami's booking thus far. He's a tiny guy getting outnumbered by a big tag team who get frustrated that he's better than both of them... And it's setting up the intro of his new partner to beat that tag team on the next special. He hasn't even lost a match yet, has he? And on top of that, NXT isn't a place for him to become a star and dominate everyone, it's a place for him to adjust and learn -- and going by his shoddy performances so far, that's exactly what he needs to avoid becoming another Sin Cara on the main roster. I wasn't/am not upset about it at all. I was just wondering if they're stripping him down like they did Jericho and Co. because of his background and fan base. Itami was a huge signing and is a big deal for them going forward internationally, he's won every match he's had so far, and he's in a featured match at the next NXT special. The weird "they kill the internet guys to upset us" paranoia does not apply here. So there's no need to wonder. FYI, Jericho got "stripped down" early in his WWF career because he was arrogant and clueless at making the transition, as is detailed in his self-help book Undisputed (available at all major Walgreens). Thus far, Itami sucks, but by all accounts he's very humble and eager to learn.

You gotta realize how different the style he's been working for 10 years is to WWE. It's not like the indy guys who work a similar, albeit exaggerated, style as WWE wrestling. He hasn't been great on NXT because he's not just taking it down a notch on his stiffness, he's basically trying to shut off what he knows and start from scratch. KENTA is easily one of the world's top talents, it'll just take some time. Devitt should have absolutely no problems adapting much faster. Oh I totally see it in Kenta. I actually did watch one indy match of his vs Bryan and the technical stuff blew my mind. I just really don't wana see him rushed to the main roster. Imagine how good this guy will be if gets better daily in NXT for the next year? Oh man. I agree. Once he can fully adjust to it, he'll excel. I'm hoping he ends up adjusting to WWE better than Mistico did.

Itami is going to be fine.
It's nXt. What happens there stays there. It has NOTHING to do with what happens on RAW & Smackdown.
Itami could lose every single match he has on NXT and when brought up to the "main roster" he's 0-0 and could go on a 30-0 undefeated streak.

The fact that they've been having him hold his own against The Ascension, even when he takes a beating, is nothing but a positive as I see it. His matches have been good and will just keep getting better once he gets into his groove over here. I can't wait for him to be in there with the likes of Zayne and Neville, but until then I'm happy with how things are going. Of course, I also know what's happening over the next month. So that makes me even more excited.

At first I was thinking the same thing, that the beatdowns were getting old... and they sort of are to me... but I can see Itami getting even with his new partner... and building to something that gets the Ascension kicked out of NXT so they finally get called up to WWE...
in this way everyone wins, as the Ascension gets the call up and Itami and partner get the rub from winning the feud in the end.

I say give it some time. Once he adjusts and is used to his new style, you'll be seeing some great things from him. He's probably not been too impressive in his matches since he started NXT cause he's trying to adjust to the new style. I wouldn't be surprised if when Devitt and Steen debuts that their first few months in matches are not going to be as impressive as their indy work is. It takes time.

Dick Togo? Someone has to get revenge for The Acension killing Funaki. Yes! I don't want some new Dick. Give us the Dick we know. Give us the Dick we love. A good American Dad reference is always great to see. Anyway i dont think Itamis booking is an instant burial yet. I believe, the short term of what we're seeing, is going somewhere better. But it will take time to see him adapt completely to WWEs style. I have a feeling he will be far more successful than Mistico was and i believe that he will be kept in NXT as long as it takes for that adaptation to occur....at least in Hunters(or whoevers) eyes. I think they learned from the Mistico experience. Not that i fully agree with the notion that every new signee should go to NXT first. I still like the idea of new faces just kind of showing up on the main roster to surprise us. At least with some of these guys who are seasoned vets of the indys or rival promotions.......ie TNA/ROH. Although Vince doesnt seem to want any ex TNA talent.

Also, not sure if most fans realize, Itami can't use half of his regular move set as many people on the main roster have used his moves as finishers. The GTS and Bryan's running knee come to mind

Didn't make much sense then either. Their "punishment" is being forced to leave NXT.

I don't like loser leaves matches under any circumstance really, unless somebody is actually leaving or retiring. Because they'll always be back.

What's a good story without conflict? The Ascension keeps beating him up and he keeps coming back for more. Eventually the story will end with him getting the big win over the Ascension.

Its all so Hideo can bring in Prince Devitt, and I think they're going to be a tag team? I have no clue I'd rather see them both kicking ass on their own but a tag team could be cool.

He's going 2 on 1 against the Ascension. It's not bad booking by any means, tune in this week and you'll be fine.
Far too soon to complain about his booking...

It seems like a good chunk of you have misinterpreted my initial post. I am NOT, nor have been, upset, frustrated, flabbergasted, bewildered, etc with his booking. I was just simply asking if they're going the Y2J route starting him out.
Go talk to the people over at prowrestling.net...
They're the ones frustrated.
