My concern is why doesnt mattel include the swivel feature on the knee joints of all basics? The only ones that do have them are Brock and Cena basics which add a better range of motion in the legs. I doubt it would look akward on other figures. You'd be amazed how many nice poses you would be able to put your basics in if this was added.

I want to know why my Basic AJ Lee figure moves at the bewb line. Diva basics all have better articulation. Legs and torso

I don't get what you mean by 'swivel-joint'.

because its alot easier to include a swivel joint when its coming out the bottom of a baggy short bottom. plus the shorts mold limits articulation as it is.

Not needed. The human leg doesn't swivel at the knee.

Not needed. The human leg doesn't swivel at the knee. The human body also doesn't have cuts on the calves and biceps to swivel either. Action figures approximate the movement of the body, not perfectly mimic it. I don't think that is a good argument. The knee swivel is, like others said, easy to implement in figures with the shorts mold. It doesn't look terribly great when exposed and then factor in the rubber kneepad on top of it and you would lose a bit of it's functionality. Also, it maximizes the risk of knee-pad warping or damage from all angles instead of simply forward and back. But the real reason it won't happen is very simple. Mattel isn't going to overhaul every basic to make them more poseable because A) that costs money, and B) they get to double dip by selling a lot of people (like myself) a basic and elite of the same guy.

I'd say it's cheaper to use two pieces and a hinge than it is to use three pieces and two hinges. But I'm just guessing here..

Action figures approximate the movement of the body, not perfectly mimic it. I don't think that is a good argument. True but the upper arm cut and ankle/boot cuts make sense becasue arms do turn outward as do ankles, but if the swivel was in the knee instead of the upper thigh cut or boot cut the leg would look awkward when moving it. Plus as you said they are basics, so Mattel's not going to redesign them. Because basic means just that the simplest/cheapest design.
