So I was listening to Punk's podcast and he talked about how WWE thought he was going to TNA. So I thought about the other stars who went to TNA, and how they didn't really make a difference, and whether Punk would. And I wondered... Is Punk bigger than anyone who went to TNA in the past?
The biggest person who ever went there is Angle, so I put him in the poll.

Sorry, but Angle was already a has-been. That was just around the time he was ECW, and WWE wasn't doing anything with him of value.

I would say Hogan when he went to TNA in 05ish and Jerrett smacked him with a guitar at a press confrence, then it went nowhere and Hogan continued working Japan then and joined TNA in 2010.
I would also say Jeff Hardy's first jump from WWE to TNA in 2004. He helped TNA transition from Wednesday PPV's to actual monthly PPV's. He was able to provide that edgy, daredevil persona that TNA was missing at the time, and it also helped Abyss form the monster gimmick. But, that still didn't grab enough viewers for TNA. Neither did his second arrival.
Christian had a strong following, especially when he won the NWA title. But that wasn't a long reign. People saw him as champ and forgot about TNA.
Other honorable mentions that also did nearky nothing after jumping ship: Booker T Bobby Lashley ( took to long)
I think TNA's biggest reveal was Sting.

Good question, Angle was sent to ECW and forgotten about (by me atleast) as I didn't watch ECW and Punk...hadn't done anything of relevance since he dropped the title.

Even though Punk wasn't really doing anything of note at the time he left he was still inarguably the #2 or 3 face in the WWE at the time of his departure. Angle was on the red headed step child brand ECW as the humongous big fish in the tiny pond. Punk is probably the biggest star to have left the WWE near the peak of his star power.

The Rock was still at his peak when he first left (2001 or 2003 depending on your viewpoint). Austin was massive when he left in 2002. Bret and Shawn were both huge when they left in 97 & 98 respectively.

When Austin "took his ball" I'd argue he was in about the same spot in the company as Punk was when he left. Austin was the main focus when Rock wasn't available, Punk was the main focus when Cena wasn't available.

The answer to this question is absolutely CM Punk. He was, at most times during his main event run in his WWE career, a bigger star than Kurt Angle ever was. And TBH he is probably a bigger star at the moment than anyone in WWE.

Punk was easily the number 3 face in the company at this point, while Angle was doing just about nothing on ECW. It's pretty clear that it's CM Punk, regardless of who you like better.

Yeah, Punk was right behind Cena and Bryan for top dog at this point and was heading in to a high profile WrestleMania match with Triple H. Kurt? Well, he was stuck in nuECW and who knows where that was going...

To be Fair they both are on the same level with Punk just a tiny bit higher because of him going to UFC.
The difference between these two are that Kurt left WWE to go to TNA while Punk left WWE and just quit wrestling in General so I say In the Wrestling World Kurt was bigger while in the Sports world Cm Punk is if that makes any sense.
However I believe The Rock was and Is the most successful Star after they left WWE I mean who would ever thought the Rock would become an A list celebrity staring in some of the Top Hollywood Movies.Even Stacy Keibler for awhile was really popular after she left and started dating that clooney guy.

I'll say CM Punk because Kurt Angle wasn't really in a main storyline when he was on ECW in 2006 if I remember right.
