If I remove a head off of an RA fig, is there any chance the peg might break? And how easily?

there could be if u dont soak ot on hot boiling water. just leave it in the water for a minute or so, and u will be able to remove it easily. KARMA PLZ

You dont HAVE to use boiling water. Another alternative would be just running some hot water and sticking the figures head under it for a few mins then POP right off. OR you can use a hairdryer...As long as the fig is hot is the secret...Im The Franchise....No Karma Needed!!  |

For any figure there is a good chance the peg will break off, so be careful. Heating up the figure is a good way to start, after that, let it cool off for a second or two, then slowly twist the head while pulling up on it. Be careful not to be too strong or force up or down on the peg. Don't bend it or it will snap.
Maybe the hairdryer is better for what you want to do.

But yeah. Read what Ianarchy said. There's several methods. Just make sure you heat the head thoroughly.

From my observation, the peg itself is made from a very dense and durable plastic so it won't snap in half if the head is softened by heat first; and the peg doesn't get softened and rubbery by heat either. However, one time when I popped off a head, the head plus the peg together and ~intact~ came off the torso, which was slightly softened by the boiling water.

Reading this stuff lately has me puzzled. You really don't have to heat up Jakks heads at all to get them off. Every single R3, FC, RA, whatever head I've taken off, I just grab a hold of it, and pull it off. With just a small bit of force, the double ball peg pops right out of the torso, easy as that.
I've never had any trouble at all doing it this way.
Are you guys trying to leave the neck peg in the torso, while pulling the head itself off of the peg? That just seems like alot of trouble for what isn't really neccessary.
Just to clarify, I do heat other brands off figures to get the heads off, especially ones with the Toybiz style neck joints, but...yeah.

Heh. I'm used to doing it with other figures, so I do it with these. Just precautions towards Jakks figures, I guess.

M2K - Yeah man that is absolutely true, I only heat or boil the head if it is really difficult to get off, because sometimes those heads are stuck on there really good, and I think, like you said, this guy doesn't want to break the peg to keep it movable.
AF - yeah man, the same questions do get asked again and again. Maybe this is crazy, but maybe they should just sticky post the 10 or 15 most frequently asked questions, that might stop it. I don't know.
