SNES N64
Sorry PS2, you just couldn't compete with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country in my heart.

Sony Playstation 2 Sega Genesis
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who never cared for the N64. Or that gen of gaming as a whole really.

Semi-Finals already? Man, I was hoping to vote in each round. SNES Sorry PS2, you just couldn't compete with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country in my heart. Yeah, this. It's close for me though, ridiculously close (this is finals material) but my favorite genre of games is side-scrolling platformers & guess which system is the king of those (SNES). The DKC trilogy stands out as my favorite of all them to this day. As for Genesis vs N64, that's probably harder. I'm going to go with the Genesis, the extensive library of amazing games on the N64 is hard to top but for the few Genesis games I really love (Sonic 2 being the main one but Ristar & Toejam & Earl are another) are enough to do it for me. Also, I don't hate the controller for the Genesis.

Seriously one of the most criminally underrated/unknown games from that era IMO.

SNES N64 ^^ IMO the two greatest consoles of all time. Semi-Finals already? Man, I was hoping to vote in each round. So, as expected, the finals have come down to the PS2 and the N64. Personally, this is a very easy vote for me. It's the greatest console ever against one that I just don't care for.

PlayStation 2 gets my vote. N64 is a great console and all, but the controller really holds it back IMO. Plus, PS2 has a massive and varied game library that just can't be matched.

The N64 started late in the war. The controller is godawful. Its 40 or so fantastic games will always be cited by the fanboys with their nostalgia glasses as the reason it's the greatest.
The PS2 existed for 12 years. Great controller design. Those 12 years produced many terrible games, but many great games as well. Even if the N64 came out in 94 and had 100 truly fantastic games, it still wouldn't be better then the PS2's greatest and most diverse game library in history.

Definitely. It kinda irritates how little we get from the Sega games from Ristar. Would've loved him being a playable character in Racing Transformed rather than a flag waver. I'd put it over the original Sonic easily. & maybe Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles but Sonic 2 is my favorite Genesis game. Need to replay Ristar, it's been years. I'd love to try the Game Gear version too. PlayStation 2 gets my vote. N64 is a great console and all, but the controller really holds it back IMO. PS2. It genuinely lasted 13 years (FIFA 14 was released on PS2, PS3 and PS4) and has a back catalogue that imo no other console can beat.

N64. Not even close. PS2 may have had a million games, but nothing that even compared to the dozens of 10/10 games that the N64 had.
Banjo Kazooie Banjo Tooie Bomberman 64 Conker's Bad Fur Day Diddy Kong Racing Donkey Kong 64 Earthworm Jim 3 F-Zero X Goldeneye 007 Jet Force Gemini Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64) Mario Kart 64 Mario Party 3 Mario Tennis Paper Mario Perfect Dark Pokémon Snap Pokémon Stadium Pokémon Stadium 2 Rayman 2: The Great Escape Resident Evil 2 Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Super Mario Bros. 64 Super Smash Bros. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time WCW/NWO: Revenge WWF: No Mercy Yoshi's Story
I'm forgetting dozens here, but most of the all time greatest games were on the N64.

I loved my N64, I still have it to this day, but I bought FFX the day it came out, which forced me to buy the PS2 I didn't have yet haha, and I immediately rocked out 66 hours of hearty goodness. The backwards compatibility, the game library, the multimedia functions, PS2 was everything and then some. DQ8, FFX, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Guitar Hero 2, Metal Gear 2 & 3, Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 4, GTA3, God of War, Everything or Nothing, Silent Hill 2 & 3, Here Comes the Pain, Indigo Prophecy, Hitman, Tony Hawk, Madden, X-Men Legends, I could go on-and-on.
For me N64 was driven on the handful of games I still play, so the two Zelda games in particular, Perfect Dark, Bond, Mario 64, Star Fox, Smash Bros, RE2, Revenge and No Mercy (Mania 2000 as well), DK64 and Mario Kart. Ocarina of Time is arguably the best game of all time imo. While PS2 had a swarm of great games, far more than N64 imo, nintendo really did have some truly elite games. Mario 64 vs Metal Gear 3, FFX vs OoT, and then RE2 vs RE4, all kind of just splitting hairs.
Overall, this is PS2 for me.
