It almost looks shopped (as in the Magazine shopped it), though I would imagine it is probably real. Maybe it was just done as a way to quell the rumors that the original Warrior tied and Von Erich took his place?

Ya, this pic looks shopped, that's whyni made sure I said I seen it in the magazine, I'll have to find it again, but I know it didn't have the all black on top, and the picture was taken before those rumours came out

It was the first thing that came to mind though, seeing the two of them side by side like that. I'm curious to find out more about this.

WWF @ Springfield, MA - Civic Center - August 7, 1990 (300 shy of a sell out) Wrestling Challenge taping
WWF World Champion the Ultimate Warrior & Kerry Von Erich defeated Rick Rude & WWF IC Champion Mr. Perfect at 11:25
This is an idea of where that picture could have came from.

It's pretty cool that Warrior is wearing his WM6 kneepads and trunks there.

Why does the crowd disappear and the background turn black behind Warrior?

Why does the crowd disappear and the background turn black behind Warrior? Many reasons could be told as to why it goes black behind Warrior... One is, Papa Shango - even in the year 1990 - was already doing his voodoo magic on Warrior Secondly is, maybe this was a really early TNA Impact event that this match happened at.... even in the year 1990 Or Thirdly... the arena was so large and packed full of fans - more likely 200,000 fans at that - that all you can see is dark behind Warrior because of how large the arena is.

"Once I had big Andre up, brother, I went to turn and slam him and felt every muscle in my back rip and tear, brother." "But not even that could stop Hulkamania, brother. I rolled into the corner and drank a bottle of survival sweat that I made from a combination of oil from my Harley and the Iron Sheik's tears. I gulped it down and all of the secrets of the universe were revealed to me. After I sent the 2-ton, 15-foot Tall Andre rocketing through the arena floor and the bedrock of the earth, I jumped in protected by only the aura that is created by the love of all of my Hulkamaniacs. I absorbed the heat of the earth's core into my lungs and flew around the world breathing warmth to all of the homeless and impoverished people from every nation. Then I heard them say, "Give us sustenance, Hulkster!" With the survival sweat now gathering in my bladder, I urinated around the world in all types of soil. New types of flora with mega-nutrients grew so they could feed every man, woman, and child on the planet. Brother. Brother. Brother. "

Maybe this will end up on the new Warrior DVD? I would absolutely LOVE to see that match. Massive fan of all 4 of those guys. Probably too much to hope this is on the network somewhere?
