i was wondering if like a sort of cotton material would work good for his beard and hair. will give karma for a good answer or another way to make a beard.

I would stay far away from this. I just don't think it would look good, as none of the other figures have real hair or beards. If you MUST do it though, use crepe hair (the stuff doll hair is made of) for his hair and flocking (the stuff you sprinkle over glue and use to upholster model cars) for his beard.

WVGuitar's got a nice idea, there. Go with the flocking, that might look pretty good.
