to be fair....i dont think the WWE planned on Macho Man passing away...and from what we've known, the Poffo family were the ones blocking Savage's induction at every turn. It was pretty clear he & the company had "made up" with his figure deal etc. Maybe they had big plans for him...He died in 2011, his Defining Moments figure came out late 2010. Lets say for example they wanted him in quick... Well, Shawn Michaels got the nod for 2011. You're not putting Savage AND Shawn in at the same class....and to be perfectly honest.....Shawn deserved his own HOF spotlight Savage then dies soon after, and his family wouldn't "allow" him to be inducted without the rest of the family (who really don't deserve it BTW) so the WWE probably said OK we're gonn have to ride this one out Next couple years you have Edge, Bruno, Foley, Warrior....All big names who were still alive, etc. Macho Man deserved a spotlight induction, this is the PERFECT year to do it. Let's not crap all over the WWE and say "he shoulda gone in years ago" we weren't there, we don't know what truly happened and we may never know....but for what Savage did for the business for Vince to NEVER acknowledge his existence up until only a handful of years ago there MUST have been something MAJOR This is a great moment in wrestling. A LEGEND getting what he deserves. It's so god damn sad he can't be here to accept it in person. While I agree that it would have been MUCH better to induct Randy Savage while he was alive to receive the appreciation - I have to say that I think too many guys are rushed into the Hall of Fame (Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, & Edge included). No one knew that Savage would die so tragically.... It's kind of nice after not hearing much of anything about The Macho Man for several years, that we now get to re-visit his legacy - and introduce him to a new generation, as many of the younger fans have not seen his matches. While so many have been saying it's "long overdue" and "should have been years ago", I think the time frame is pretty spot-on.... it is just tragic that Savage isn't here to celebrate his life & career with the rest of us. This year's Hall of Fame will be the "cream of the crop!" NOW..... let's just hope for one of those "Creed-type" quality video packages, like we used to get!

Unfortunately, it doesn't mean much now that he's gone. His name will be in and we'll see Lanny up there to accept, but we'll never get the reunion of seeing Randy in from of a WWE audience again. Vince let his pride get in the way of getting something special and now it's too late. And where is this magic amulet the WWE has of knowing when someone will die. Because I want one. Are you really suggesting they waited for Macho Man to have a heart attack because of pride and now they will put him in the Hall of Fame because he is dead? Vince let his pride get in the way? Huh? How was he supposed to know Macho Man would die early? I could see where you would have a point if Macho Man was 91 etc. There is nothing about pride here.

I wonder if Austin bringing him up in the Mr McMahon podcast had anything to do with this?

I can't say I always agree with your opinions, (and how boring would the world be if everyone had the same opinions anyway) but you really nailed it here on all counts. From Randy needing his to lead his own class to how sad it is that he didn't live to see it happen. If I may add 2 small things: I believe one day we'll hear what really happened between Randy and Vince. I think it might take until Vince passes, but I believe we'll find out. And do we have any proof that Lanny's comments about Randy wanting the whole family to be inducted are true? I've never been able to find any online.

I fell asleep before the end of RAW, I saw those little impression vignettes as I was dozing off, thought that was all they were going to do then wham they play that video, made me so damn happy. Irrationally obsessed Macho fan approved, that was THE FULL MACHO. He suddenly exists to WWE again and even the commentary team started acting like he existed again, the Ascension/Mega Powers comment was the last thing I heard before I fell asleep.
It's been 21 years since he left WWF!

As I said in the Raw thread Elizabeth needs to be inducted alongside him. I had been thinking no, but I think you're probably right now, if Paul Bearer went in, then by that logic Elizabeth should too since she was just as important a part of a unit with Macho as Bearer was with Taker, if not more. I love Bobby Heenan to death, but he wasn't a unit with a lot of his guys like Perfect or Rude the way Bearer/Taker and Macho/Liz were. Macho/Liz told like a 6 or 7 year story in WWF.

It's awesome that he's finally going in.....but it still leaves an empty place in my stomach. I wish that him and WWE had settled their beef earlier and he was able to go in while he was alive so that he could get to tell HIS side of the story, not the side that WWE wants to serve up to everyone. The sad part is, with Macho in video games, figures coming out, and his Comic Con video in 2010...I think they were really really really close to being back on great terms, too.
Same thing with Warrior.....WWE always had a certain image and way that they portrayed him to the fans. He wasn't around to defend himself, except on the internet. So when he was finally able to get everything off his chest at the Hall of Fame last year, he was finally able to defend his name.
We'll never know what the beef was with Macho Man and WWE. Macho Man said that he left because he wanted to wrestle and Vince was going with the younger new generation and wanted Macho Man to be an announcer. That makes sense to me, but it does NOT explain Macho Man being black listed for 15 years.
Vince did business with Hogan again, Hall and Nash again.....almost everybody who ever left for more money has been welcomed back in some capacity, and in a lot shorter period of time than Savage.
I hope Lanny is able to tell the whole truth at the Hall of Fame. Because this is something that I think everyone needs closure on.

Is there an actual WWE Hall of Fame somewhere where people can go and look at displays and exhibits like you have with sports hall of fames?! If not, then what exactly is the point of this HOF, some sort of online thing?? Macho Man has been part of the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame for years, they actually have a physical location you can go and visit.
As for the induction, it should be Steamboat, one of the greatest matches of Savage's WWF career was the WM3 match against Steamboat. I agree about Vince, he is just using this as another way to make money off Macho Man's persona and legacy- its all about $$ with him which is also why we finally saw a DVD about Savage's career released. Although, like the HOF induction, it came too late as he was not here to participate in the documentary portion or even select the matches that were included.
What evidence do you have that they had made up?? Macho Man signed a figure deal directly with Mattel NOT WWE, this indicates to me that they were still on bad terms. All the merchandise (aside from the figures) that has been released might have to do with WWE owning the trademark on the 'Macho Man' brand which would give them the right to produce any merchandise with his likeness.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DIG IT I CAN DIG IT Macho is finally in where he belongs, even though he should have went in when he was alive but even so like in 2012 when WWE were in Miami in Florida for WrestleMania 28 that is when Macho should have been inducted considering he died the year before in 2011 2012 he should have went in but he is going in now and that makes me happy but I wonder if Elizabeth will go in with him?
