Saw on Reddit earlier that in an interview with Sam Roberts 2 days before the Rumble, Reigns was quoted as saying: "Fans have to realize that as opinionated as they are and the way you want it, the company is the same way and they are gonna do what they wanna do...hopefully, at the end of the day, I'm the one getting rich." Would love to get your guys thoughts on this one. Source is www.stitcher.com/podcast/sam-roberts-wrestling-podcast/e/36776291?autoplay=true

Roman Reigns, and that's the first time I say that with legitimate meaning.

In before the usual crowd come in and laugh about how much money Reigns is going to make and how we're all poor fellows living in our mom's basements crying.
On a serious note, this is not really the best way for him to go about things. Saying something like that works best for a heel type character.

I'm tired of all this negativity if he wants to get rich so what? Brock Lesnar's only in it for the money but he still has fans who don't care and still support him.
I'm not a big Roman Reigns fan but all this hate he is receiving is totally unfair. Last year old Batista won the Rumble which made everyone angry but this year a young rising star wins the Rumble and people are angry aswell.
What are the WWE suppose to do? Let guys like Cena and Orton win the Rumble every year.

He'll be a heel by the end of the year, whether WWE wants it that way or not. May as well start early, by acting like an entitled prick.

He's not in the business for the love of the business. That's been clear as day from the start. One of the reasons I've never liked him. He wants the fame and fortune, much like Dwayne did.

Maybe the WWE should just let guys like Cena and Orton win the Rumble every year. Or, like I said, it is nothing negative. However, comments like this are something a heel, like Brock Lesnar, would make. Not Roman.

But he has every right to be angry because one minute he's getting huge pops and then suddenly the crowd turn on him for no reason.

Number one, the interview was from BEFORE the Rumble. Number two, yes, he can be upset. I totally understand him being disappointed. He had a great moment and it was crapped on. BUT, as a babyface in the company, this probably wasn't the best response. Not hating, just stating something about Roman. This seems to be something that a lot of people struggle with. Stating something negative about a guy doesn't mean I'm hating.

Sounds like something a Paul Heyman guy would say.
Just saying.

I don't know if it's been THAT sudden. He's been getting weak pops since he came back. Ryback gets a better reaction.

What are the WWE suppose to do? Let guys like Cena and Orton win the Rumble every year. Just because people want new stars to be created doesn't mean that WWE can just throw anyone into the spotlight. When it comes to establishing new main event talent, Roman Reigns is FAR below guys like Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt as guys who have actually proven themselves as being talented enough to hold top spots. They're the guys who deserve to be showcased. Not Roman ing Reigns.

What's wrong with what he said? Maybe just the way he said it but the actual content isn't bad.
He says the company is going to do what it wants and hopefully he's the one they go with and he can make a lot of money along the way.
Maybe it comes off as douchey but what he means is what I bet they all feel. They all feel the company is going to do what it wants and they hope they are the ones that get the jetpack strapped to them and they get to make a ton of money on the way to the top.

Almost exactly what I said in the Roman Reigns thread when this was posted. So agreed, 100% It's basic sense, that ANY of us would say in our job. If our company is going to do what they feel is best for the company, don't you hope you benefit from it? Dude's a father. Put food on the table. #1 job. And you can love something, and still want to make a lot of money doing it. People and their high horses.

Man, I've seen Bryan wrestle in front of like 80 people and I know IWA-MS pay days are dirt. He honestly does it because he loves it and is amazing at it. He really is the people's champ.
How stupid can Reigns be? He knows he's facing an uphill battle and its like he's throwing an extra 300 lbs on his back. This is something Cena would never say at any point in his career. I really, really hope this isn't 'the face' for years to come. I'm getting a real Bobby Lashley vibe from him.

The funny thing is, I've yet to hear him bash his colleagues. He never says "I'm better than Ambrose, or Rollins, or Wyatt", or anything of the sort. He seems to acknowledge he's been thrust into this spot, and is TRYING to make the best of it -- the worst he's said is "If the company's going to do what they wont, I hope I benefit from it." and "if you haven't done this, don't be so quick to talk..." Something a LOT of people in varying jobs would say. I don't get it. I really don't. Even if I weren't a fan of the dude, I wouldn't understand the issues here. People have the right to their opinions. I just can't take issue with someone wanting to get rich, doing what they do.
