The official name and logo of the Indy line will be revealed today and the first line for the Indus and legends were announced what purpose of a post is "they were announced" if you're not going to say what the announcement was?

Logo looks cool. Name could have been more accurate though. Lots of those guys are falling stars meaning their biggest fame is behind them.

I know, but curt hawkins and uncle festus and many of the other guys signed best days have come and gone. They aren't rising stars. They've risen and since been fired from the wwe. A rising star, to me, would be a guy on the indies that in the future may sign with wwe and go on to stardom.

If you believe that, then these guys are already stars. Not "rising" stars. In reality though, wwe is the major leagues. Even nxt trumps the other feds.

That's a very one dimensional view of the wrestling world. Being in WWE doesn't make you a star and its not the only place to become a star.
Also look at a guy like Eddie Guerrero who got fired went back to the indies then became more famous than ever.
Finally, its a name. Its a name that makes sense and its not going to change so no point in bitching about it

It's a very 'Masters Of The Universe' feel to that logo, cool though...

Yeah, maybe not take marketing quite so literally... "Aging Stars! Guys who used to be in WWE!" isn't going to help wrestlers sell their action figures. It's really not that hard to understand.

But what would have been wrong with something like "independent stars"? AJ styles, who they call a "rising star" is a bigger legend than most of the guys in what we've been calling the legends line. No clue what they might name that, but it's for that reason that I felt like it could have just been a single line even if it meant having a generic name like "the stars of pro wrestling" that encompasses all categories.

The Legends line is the Legends line. They own that name from the first time they did wrestling figures. Casual fans have no clue what "independent wrestling" is. It's a catchy name for a set of guys that are mostly targeting hardcore collectors. Honestly your generic suggestions sound like the dollar store figs that pop up. Not trying to be a dick but the name they chose is perfectly fine.

Not trying to be a dick but the name they chose is perfectly fine. casual fans won't be purchasing these so it's irrelevant whether or not they know what independent wrestling is. You said yourself in the very next sentence that they're targeting hardcore collectors. Anyone who is aware of the fact that festus still wrestles or would know where to even purchase these figures is familiar with the term "independent" and thus a more literal (and imo accurate) name wouldn't be lost on them. I would think the trademark on "legends of professional wrestling" had expired but I like that name and hope they were able to renew it. I suggested that very generic sounding name because it would accurately describe both lines. I suppose I could have gone with "heroes of the high school gym" or "bingo hall battlers" if catchiness is such a priority.

The point I'm making is they are going to want something to interest casual fans not just hardcore collectors. Calling it the indy line is limiting the amount of buyers because it only caters to hardcore fans. Giving a catchy name to a set of cool looking figures is good business. They're going to market these to make money, not just to interest 100-200 hardcore fans.
