I am absolutely horrified at the idea of Ambrose being a midcarder for life after finding out he's going to be in a program with Barrett, who is decent at best. I know I will get alot of crap for this but I feel the IC title is beneath Dean after the roll he was on the past several months. There are no benefits of having that title anymore. It's pretty much a dead end, and you cannot tell me that anyone who had that title for the past 4 years is a main-eventer now. It's supposed to be the title that gets you "ready". In my opinion it's just a prop, much like every other title.
Anyhow, I may be overreacting a bit, but I feel like Ambrose is the most main-event ready right now out of any talent. I question the company and Vince's faith in him, because if booked right, he could atleast be top 2 or 3 in the company. I mean the reactions the guy was getting for the past 6 months were great, and from what I read his merchandise does relatively well (better than Reigns). So I don't understand the resistance to progress Dean as a talent. Instead of trying to build him at all, they killed nearly any momentum that he's garnered. Losing every ppv since the shield splitting. Forgive me for my little rant, but I needed to get it off my chest. Please feel free to agree, disagree. I'm open to discussion.

I would say it's definitely overreacting. He'll get his shot in the main event. I like the idea of doing a slow build with him.

Not every talent needs to be hot shot to the top within a year. Not even two. Or three. He's popular. He's young. He's being used regularly. He'll be fine.

He has nobody to work with so they're doing their best to give him a standout spot at Mania. Rollins is facing Orton, Rusev is facing Cena, Brock takes on Reigns, HHH is going against Sting, and Bray, who he just ended a feud with, is seemingly facing Taker.
Since when is winning the IC Title, something he's never done, anything to shrug at? With Bryan at the top and WWE slamming the Roman Reigns train down the tracks, there isn't room for Ambrose on top right now. I mean I'll take the guy just getting a win on PPV period. Ambrose is the kind of guy that can make that title right now, versus the other way around. It's a good thing that he feels "above" the IC Title because that means there stands a great chance we'll all be paying attention once he wins it.
Macho Man, Razor, Diesel, HBK, Bret, HHH, Austin, Rock, Jericho, Warrior, Flair, Rude, Angle, Eddie, RVD, Rey, Edge... If I work for WWE, I'm thinking that's a pretty damn cool thing to add to my resume, especially at WrestleMania.
I think that IC Title can still be a stop on the way to the top, especially since the WHC is gone. It's an opportunity for every guy who wins to make the best out of the situation. I see Ambrose making the most out of that opportunity.

He'll win the WM battle royal, doubt he even gets a singles match. They don't care that he's popular, he's a joke, hasn't even won a PPV match since NOC 2013, someone try to give me an excuse for that.

The closest he's come to losing by a clean pinfall is the monitor exploding in his face. I still don't see how it hurts him. I don't agree with his booking in the Wyatt feud, but his PPV losses really aren't all that bad. When he starts losing cleanly to Miz on the preshow, might be onto something.

Yes, you are overreacting. I consistently bitch about Dean Ambrose's current position in the product, but that's only because I believed that he could have been main event ready had he not been booked terribly in his rivalry with Bray Wyatt. The program with Bad News Barrett over the Intercontinental Championship is MUCH better than him not doing anything noteworthy. Ambrose will be fine. Now isn't the time to throw in the towel and call him a bust.

I enjoy him in his comedic segments but I do hope he at some point reaches his full potential higher on the card. They should give him some time though as its not like he's already a complete A1 talent ready to Main Event.

He had the longest U.S. title reign in the WWE, so I'd say let him win the IC title as well and have one of the longest IC title reigns ever.

Ambrose is currently my favorite wrestler in WWE. I love the dude. I have tons of merchandise to prove it lol.
That being said, I honestly think he'll be fine. I do wish he'd pick up a win a little more often, but in the long run, he and the rest of the Shield will be legends of their generation.

maybe he beats Barrett for the IC title and then it will mean something...
(have been saying this since Cody was IC champ, just with a different superstar each time)

He will get there. It's still early in his singles career.

He definitely deserves better, and it's easy to tell already that this is going to pretty much be his spot in the company for the next several years. They have no idea what to do with him and have done everything possible to bury him so he isn't as over with the crowd as he currently is. It looked all along like he would be the guy lost in the shuffle (despite being the most talented) when The Shield split up, and up to this point that's exactly what's happened.

Meh, Triple H held the Intercontinental Championship twice and that was after he was a three time WWE Champion. I don't see why its such a big deal. Like Marino said above, he doesn't need to be at the top so quickly. People expect things to happen so quickly and I don't understand why.

come on ppl wheres the patience, the shield hasnt even been seperated for a year yet and there is probably a thread for all 3 of them about y they arent champ yet(except maybe reigns). this is all the attitude/ruthless aggression eras faults when the belt changed hands practically every month. as for ambrose he has lost at every pay-per-view he has been in since leaving the shield and is still over. wwe is using that to try to make others look stronger i.e. bray wyatt, seth rollins, and maybe wade barrett(who wwe keeps trying to push but keeps getting injured). he will get his time tho. will say the i-c title needs him not the other way around.
