That's what I have done as well. Soak with soap and water. Depending on how severe the smell is, it might not completely come off.

This could go in any of the figure forums but this one is the most popular. I buy a lot from ebay and although I ask most of the time if the item I am purchasing comes from a smoke free home sometimes I don't get to or don't have a choice cause of the rarity. Just asking fellow members if they have any good home remedies on getting rid of that awful smell. Right now I am soaking a "smoke" figure I got in warm water with some soap for awhile. Thanks in advance! That acutally works, thats what I did to a couple of my figures I got from ebay and the smell is gone.

I have a lot of non-abrasive soaps and other cleaning supplies i'll try. If I come up with anything I'll let everyone know.

I put dryer sheets in baggie don't do this unless it's one that has run thru the dryer already because it leaves a residue on them that makes them slick and slimy feeling

Box of baking soda and a zip lock baggie. It takes A LONG, LONG TIME. But after a few months, yes months, the smell went away.

Put the figure in a ziploc bag with some dryer sheets and leave it there for a few weeks. The dryer sheets will absorb the smell out of the plastic.

What type of soap do you use to soak a figure in? I'm afraid of soaking one of the figures I have being its kind of sought after and I'm afraid soaking it will take some of the paint off.
I scrubbed the figure really good with cotton balls and isopropyl alcohol, wrapped them in paper towels, then put in a few dryer sheets in a tightly sealed Ziploc bag. A week later they just smell like dryer sheets and smoke combined.

Arm and hammer carpet odor remover. Put the figure in a box, dump a bunch in, let it sit 2 days

Soaked my stuff in hot soap water, rinsed, then left in a ziploc bag with dryer sheets for a couple of weeks. Took the smell right out.

Nope, not when i did it...its basically a soap, washed off when done I only had it sit like 1 or 2 days, so i dont know if prolonged exposure would hurt it

What soap are you people specifically using? Dawn dish liquid or what?
