I'm sure this has been polled before, but sometimes when the YES chant pops up during other segments I wonder to myself, what's over more? D Bry himself? Or the yes chant?
Interested to read your take.

What's more over, Stone Cold, or What? Chants? Same case here for me. Bryan is more over, just a huge fan base support.

I see it like this...if it's not Bryan that's over, then how come two consecutive Royal Rumbles have been hijacked in response to his character being handled badly?

O'Bryan.

This again?
The answer is obviously Daniel Bryan. Now get ready for the "Bryan detractors" to come in and say that he's small so he's not good. He's only over because of a chant. He doesn't deserve anything. The usual.

The yes chants pop up in segments when they involve Daniel Bryan to some degree, even if it's just the slightest mention of his name .. Bryan is over, not the chant

If it was just the chant then it would have caught on with somebody else honestly. They gave it to Big Sh*t with no success. Brie uses it with pretty timid success and she's married to the guy. I think Stephanie used to try and get it over at one point even before it was done in the snarky way she does it now. Other people do it and it's not the same. Bryan has an army of people chanting in unison when he really gets it going and it's polarizing to watch. I'll never forget that Bray Wyatt cage match.
Bryan has just become the perfect storm for the anti WWE guy crowd. Great wrestler, unpolished look, me against the world attitude. He's the perfect underdog story and he's the guy that people feel like has earned it.
Bryan got the chant over, not the other way around.

Obviously Daniel Bryan. I see where you're coming from though, for example Fandango's chants were more over than he was.

How can anyone possibly attempt to argue that Daniel Bryan isn't the most over guy in the company?
Stone Cold and The Rock were the last guys to achieve the kind of pops Daniel Bryan has often received in the last thirteen (or so) months.

Anybody who thinks that Daniel Bryan is only over because of a chant, then you have no respect for the hard work that this man puts in, the physical danger that he puts his body in, the fact that he almost had a career ending injury due to all the wear and tear on his body.....
Daniel Bryan is over because he's one of the best wrestlers in the entire WWE and the fans identify with how much he cares about wrestling and how hard it's been for somebody without movie star looks or a huge muscular body to get to the top of a business that is usually dominated by huge guys, because that is what Vince McMahon is obsessed with.....big muscle men.
People seem to forget that Daniel Bryan did the YES chant long before he made it to the top....then he did the NO chant.....then back to YES.....this goes back over 3 years! The fans didn't catch on right away. It took Daniel Bryan some time to form that bond and connection with the audience.
To try and invalidate everything that Daniel Bryan has done, does, or will do, and to attempt to give all of that credit simply to a chant......it's absurd, embarrassing, and disrespectful.
The people chant YES out of respect for Daniel Bryan an in appreciation for the hard work that he puts in. With the type of injury that he had, it would have been really easy for him to say "screw it"! He could have said that WWE doesn't use him properly, it's not worth paralyzing himself for a company that puts a glass ceiling over him and caps his potential. He could have very easily just retired and spent the rest of his life living very comfortably with his gorgeous wife. But instead, he came back, put himself at risk, and continues to try and be the best because he loves wrestling and the fans love him.
It's pretty easy to see....anybody who thinks he'd be nothing without the chant either isn't paying attention, or doesn't respect good wrestling. Now, maybe WWE only gave him a shot at the top because they feel the YES chant is "marketable"..... but the true fans know talent and hard work when they see it.

You have to be an idiot to think it's the chant and not him.

Daniel Bryan himself is the only real answer here.

They both helped each other -- without Bryan, we wouldn't have the chant in WWE in the first place. And without the chant, Bryan wouldn't have a catchphrase and hand gesture that's easy to follow. The "yes" chants have kind of outgrown him a bit now, to the point that anyone can get the crowd doing it, but it's always stronger when he's leading them.

Sorry for posting a thread. < / 3 I'll make sure I back log every thread ever made next time. I know Daniel Bryan is the most over guy in a long time. I love Daniel Bryan. It was just a thread. My bad. my threads and posts aren't ever attacked. It was more on the heels of him having an edgier persona the last few weeks.
