I stopped buying them after they went over 20 bucks, no figure is worth that much.

Starting with Elite 34, the retail price of Elites here will be £19.99 (which is approx. $30.80). Yikes. How much are they in the US these days? And would you pay $30.80? It's getting to be a pretty expensive hobby... The US peeps complain about their prices every day blah blah blah 30.80$ is DAMN high yikes and I thought we had it bad in Canada. Ours are roughly 29$ after taxes (at tru) and 28$ at Wal-Mart and 15.99 for basics (and 19.99 for basic bafs at tru). The thing about the us is they've had a steady increase SINCE the figures came out where as other places have ALWAYS had to pay these prices (which I why I always make a stink about it lol it has NOTHING to do with "different countries and being relative blah blah" or "in canada we have to have bilingual packaging" NONSENSE cuz elite 32 has NO french crap on it at all) Plus you always see US people talking about sales at Walmart for 16.99 or Target at 14.99. Must be nice (and considering right now the us dollar is worth more than ours add that on top of it). Well maybe twice a year tru has a sale for 18.99$ but then usually there's never any figs on the shelf (then the new ones come in AFTER the sale is over). Personally I'm not getting anyone after WM30 so I have a FEW new figs to catch up on who still fall under that banner (Ussos, Paige, Russev and new Hogan) but the Legends I stick to Amazon now at 16.99 plus 5$ shipping - in CANADA, that can't be beat. Anything but legends will wait until a sale at TRU (except for ONE - Bluetista that fig is worth it to me) if I get lucky. 30$ for toys is just INSANE. And in the case of some figs - like the last batista that came with NOTHING...how do yo justify 30$ on THAT? Oh and don't let ANY company fool with their BS - like EVERYTHING else it simply has to do with GREED.

In texas, my walmarts and targets are still 19.99 for elites. TRU has their netorious markup to 21.99. I dont have kmarts. But prices have remained the same for a few years now.

Ya know, I see these threads all the time. It doesnt matter if you're in the US or UK or wherever....These figures come out every 2-3 months. 90% of people dont buy every single figure. If you cant save/budget an extra $100 over the course of 3 months, you either need to find a new hobby or a better job.

They'd be an uproar. I don't mean to moan (honest!) - but when you see people in threads complaining about paying $22 for an Elite or $25 for Defining Moments, it just makes me shake my head... we (and other countries) would love to have them so cheap.

Damn that sucks. In the Targets and TRUs I go to Elites are $23.99 and that's a little too high for me.

All of ours had the bilingual text and no "includes" sticker.

Then there becomes a time when you need to prioritize your life. If you can afford to buy every figure or collect everything you want, good for you. However, if you cant then you shouldnt be complaining about the prices of things going up (something that's only been happening since like the 1600s). I personally would love to buy every Elite figure released....but I cant afford that and its not an investment that Im going to get my money back in either. So with that, I limit myself to only Elite Flashback and I have plenty of money to do other things for. Not only that, I save enough money where I can pay more to pre order and get it sooner then having to wait and hope to see at retail.

Not only that, I save enough money where I can pay more to pre order and get it sooner then having to wait and hope to see at retail. That's all very nice for you, but lecturing to folks about keeping control of their finances doesn't change the reality that a 54% price increase in five years is absurd. It hasn't priced me out of the game yet so for me it's just an annoyance, but if it is turning some hardcore collectors away, it's also going to mean that the mass audience -- kids who get a figure now and again -- is also going to be finding them too expensive. Wrestling's audience is primarily poor people, that's why wrestling on TV gets terrible ad rates compared to other shows of similar ratings. There are no other mainstream lines that I know of pumping out detailed six/seven inch figures at this rate, and if costs are really going up so rapidly, it's easy to see why. And prices rising faster than inflation can ultimately spell the downfall of the line.

It seems that quickly increasing prices on premium lines is becoming a common theme. For completionists and multiple line collectors, these steady bumps are quite problematic. It's true that people should only buy what they can afford, but the toy companies should also worry about alienating their customer base. I've seen several hobbies go through serious downturns because the suppliers were outpacing the demand. Constructive feedback can stop a problem from forming if the right people are listening.

However, if you cant then you shouldnt be complaining about the prices of things going up (something that's only been happening since like the 1600s). I know all about the price of things going up... but an $11 price increase in 5 years - for the same plastic action-figure - is crazy, whatever way you look at it. Sure, I can still afford to buy all the Elites I want... but that's not really the point - I'm a hardcore collector (outside of bills/cost of living, toys and action-figures are my main expense). It will mainly hurt the casual collector, the kids - and the parents, who will see the prices and be put-off buying the figures. Stores here have already had trouble selling some Elite figures - eg. Elite 32 were originally £14.99 ($23 approx.) in Smyths and EVERY figure had to be discounted (most to £5) - so what's going to happen when they're charging £19.99? More lack of sales and more reductions - which could ultimately lead to stores either drastically cutting back on Elite figures, or worse still, stopping to stock them altogether. Which would suck for everyone.

I will probably continue to buy these no matter what the price gets to. Just will only spend the same amount. If the budget allows me $100 for the month, I guess I only get to buy 3 figures instead of 5.

The Meijer in my town has them at 16.97
Unless they're store exclusive I will probably stick with Amazon most of the time.

Mattel will increase prices. Mattel is struggling. They gave up the DC license. They basically have the WWE figures for collectors and will probably increase prices to offset their poor showings. This Toyfair was a disaster for them. THey showed nothing really...just poor overall and it is a sign of their future.
They will put the burden on the WWE collectors as it is their really last desirable collectors line and will milk it. There is only so much can be done before fans move on though. Outside of the nostalgia figures, nothing will sell. They better start pimping the WCW figures soon because their is only so mmuch WWE figures to make.

TBH it hasn't been confirmed I this is an across the board increase but I was out of the mattels long ago as I never really made the switch, I sporadically collect the divas as they go with the jakks collection and I do own Zeb Colter but the only males other then that I ever got was to trade on or use the heads for customs.
Hopefully TRU sticks with their current price and maybe argos will stock them more
