I'm not saying I believe this. I will put it in bold. IM NOT SAYING I BELIEVE THIS. That's for some people. It's copy and pasted from the site I found it on so if some things don't make sense, I apologize.
On a recent edition of , Konnan discussed the WWE merchandise practices, and MSL accused WWE of manipulating merchandise sales so that CM Punk never outsold John Cena. Here is what he has to say on the show…
When CM Punk was red hot and started to outsell the John Cena merchandise, I know people that work in the company in the merchandise department, I know people that work the arenas and sell the merchandise, and I can tell you exactly what WWE did: as soon as John Cena started getting outsold by CM Punk, they made 3 additional John Cena designs, they refused to make a second CM Punk design and they started undershipping the CM Punk design on purpose. For every CM Punk shirt they would ship to the arena, they would triple John Cena shirts and they would do 3 John Cena designs. So every 10 shirts in the arena, if 9 are Cena, only one is Punk. Punk is going to sell out right away because they didn’t send enough and at the end of the night they’re going “Oh John Cena quadrupled Punk’s merchandise.” Of course he did! Because you’ve purposely created a situation where it would be impossible for CM Punk to outsell John Cena.
We’ve told the story on the show before, years ago at Wrestlemania when WWE was struggling. It’s Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart in the main event going 60 minutes, people are leaving during the main event, you can check the video tape. People are leaving during the main event of Wrestlemania, and Hall and Nash have both told me that Vince said that night that he would rather have a half full arena cheering for the guy that he says to cheer for than a full arena cheering for whoever they want.

I think what he needs to understand is that no matter what if CM Punk was selling t shirts more than cena for maybe what a few months?,Cena would always out sell because he's John Cena he's the top guy a global icon in the wrestling world and probably the only one to really make it big in the entertainment world too. When Any new WWE product is out he's always the first guy to go to.He's a selling machine NOBODY can top cenas merchandise sales.

One thing that has to do with all the money Cena makes the company is that he's on everything, whether it has anything to do directly with him or not, like PPV DVD's and magazines. Stuff like that factors into how much he makes for them, and people will usually buy DVD's and magazines, no matter who the cover is. That was of course more prevalent before the network as far as DVD's go.
Then there's stuff like the fruity pebbles box he was on. I'm pretty sure 99% of people who bought that bought it because it's cereal and not because it has John Cena on it. That also reminds me, I was at a grocery store and saw a little box of mini pizzas, with Sheamus on the cover. NOBODY, is buying mini pizzas because of Sheamus.

Lol. WWE underproduced Punk shirts so they wouldn't sell? Nope.
Around the time when Punk's shirt outsold Cena's, they actually made several new shirts for Punk -- the "best in the world" black and grey variants, the thunderfist black shirt, the ice cream bar one, the "in Punk we trust" one. There are likely one or two more special editions that I'm forgetting as well.

It wouldn't shock me if they did, but I doubt it. Money they make off Punk shirts mostly goes to them so slowing down his apparel line when it's red hot only hurts sales. And we all know how Vinnie feels about those $.

I believe it.
The reason John Cena has remained the top merch seller is because WWE wants him to be. Someone else gets hot? Push them down the card, or turn them heel. See: Punk, Ambrose, Ryder.
He also gets FAR more merch than other members of the roster, so of course he's going to sell more. You also see a ton more Cena crap at merch stands at live events, as opposed to everyone else. Not a doubt in my mind that Bryan or Punk could've been the face of the company if they actually had the full support of Vince.
Punk was absolutely right: Vince is a millionaire that should be a billionaire. He's willing to make a dime doing it his way, rather than make a dollar doing it someone else's.

Anybody could be the face of the company if they had the full support of Vince. But you'd have to be lacking a mind to think Bryan or Punk would be even remotely as successful as Cena in the role.

Considering that Punk was actually able to make wrestling relevant again during one of the worst periods in WWE's history, I think he very well could have.

Punk was actually able to make wrestling relevant again Ticket sales for his shows and ratings for his segments say SORRY, FALSE. And Punk's "pipebomb" drew a worse buyrate than Mark Henry's fake retirement promo... Doesn't say much for making wrestling relevant.

I dont believe that story at all. The only period I recall John Cena getting multiple shirt designs in a relatively short time is Oct 2013-Mar 2014 where he got a
-White shirt that says EVEN STRONGER on the front -Black/lime green NEVER GIVE UP shirt -Black YOU CANT STOP ME shirt
And what other thing happened during that time? CM Punk quit the company, so of course Cena would get more shirts and sell more shirts.

I will say this about MLW Radio, they have been proven to tell factual stories. Most of the stuff I've heard on there are true stories. MSL does have contacts in the industry. It doesn't shock me the WWE did their best to undercut CM Punk's merchandise. The machine is trying to protect their biggest asset from trying not oversold.

I don't see why WWE would purposely not wanna make money, but as soon as I see Konnan's name involved I stopped caring and believing. He lies. His friends lie. His mom probably lies too.

Outside of the BS on the lack of Punk shirts.....he isnt telling me anything I dont already know. OF COURSE there are going to be MORE Cena designs. OF COURSE there are going to be more Cena shirts in stock. Cena is the top merch seller. THATS why. While WWE is reluctant to change direction creatively, they are NOT shy about merchandise. If you can sell a shirt, mask, gloves or a dirty sock.....WWE will produce it. They dont care who does what in that respect. They want the money.
