Tag Team Championship – Triple Threat
The Rock & Zeus VS. Fade II Black VS. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit - champions
This match was well worked by FIIB. They had match well in hand from beginning to end. Unfortunately it was not to be for the greatest tag champs of all time. The new team of Zeus and the Rock worked the advantage to their side and hammered FIIB out with chairs on the outside. After they isolated Angle it was all over. Angle was double teamed and finished off with a double Rock Bottom. The new Tag Team Champions became known as the Empire’s Champs after their hand were raised.
Women’s Debut Match – Four Corners Rules
“Starlet” Lael Chase VS. Ecstasy VS. Taylor Matheny VS. Valandra
“Starlet” Lael Chase VS. Ecstasy VS. Taylor Matheny VS. Valandra
In an outstanding first ever Four Corners Rules Debut Match, we seen a lot of talant coming into the women’s ranks. Lael Chase showed the most potential of all as she dominated much of the match with her technical skill, quickness, and phenomenal strength for her size. Ecstasy showed much promise and agility when she hit a one handed cartwheel and hit a sitting clothesline on the Starlet to eliminate her. Unfortunately, she didn’t last much longer after that. Taylor hit a moonsault on her and eliminated her from competition as well.
It was all down to Valandra and Taylor. Valandra took Taylor out when she tried for a cross body press. Valandra caught her in mid-air and hit a fallaway suplex and held a bridge. She picked up the 3-count and walked out with the best advantage for a rookie. She defeated 3 other great talents tonight. I can’t wait to see how much more from this new star we will see, not to mention the rest of the stars.
Eagle Championship
“Double J” Jeff Jarrett VS. Dallas Hart - champion
We see much of the same match that took place at King of the Ring. Only this time it was more intense a much longer. Jarrett put a lot of effort into defeating the younger Hart once again. Unfortunately, Dallas was much more skilled of the two and kept out wrestling the veteran. Jarrett got upset and led the young star outside. He began working on his knee then used a chair on it. He trapped the knee between the dislodged steps and dropped them on it. He then rolled him back in and began working at his knee some more. He locked in a figure-four but Dallas, much like his father refused to give up. He was able to force the break by making it to the ropes.
Jarrett got angry and pulled him outside once again. Regal came down and distracted the referee. Jarrett was able to get his guitar and nail Dallas. He rolled him back in and hooked his bad knee up for the 1-2-3. After the match he continued to cause damage to poor Dallas’s knee. He continued until Bret came down and chased Jarrett out of the ring. Nevertheless, the NEW Eagle Champion is Double J.
Women’s Championship
Janessa Reign VS. Jade Hart - champion
Janessa Reign VS. Jade Hart - champion
In a pre-match interview, Jade Hart was quite confident. You could definitely see her father come out in her during the interview. She KNEW she was going to walk right through Janessa Reign and walk out with her title secure. Jade opened the contest with some great wrestling holds. Reign seemed overwhelmed in the early going. She was able to counter a few hammerlocks and show some aggression. Everytime she would get an advantage, Jade shut her down. Jade went for a finish with a Sharpshooter but Reign was able to battle to the rope. Jade devastated her back for this. She sent her into the ropes and hit her low. She dragged her over to the corner and climbed on her shoulders. She went for a victory roll but Janessa stepped forward and countered the hold. She slipped her head out and locked her legs behind her shoulders and sat back for the count of 3. The upset of the night is the NEW Women’s Champion, Janessa Reign.
Debut Match
“Alpha Male” Monty Brown VS. “Masterpiece” Chris Masters
In the debut match of the night we saw two great new talents clash. Monty Brown, former NFL player, takes on the Masterpiece. Of course, Athena announced her new client to the world. Chris Masters started out with a test of strength, which he won. Brown was overwhelmed whenever he tried to use strength against the big man. Monty was able to capture the important advantage when he reversed an irish whip and nailed him with a devastating clothesline. Brown started working his match against Masters then executed the POUNCE! Masters was done by all accounts except Athena jumped on the apron and accused Brown of cheating. The ref was distracted long enough to give Masters recovery time. Brown covered only to get a 2-count. The match continued and Brown went for the Pounce again but this time Masters held onto the rope and Brown missed him. Athena distracted the ref again and Brown went to throw her off the apron. Masters was able to lock in his Full Nelson known as the Master Lock. Brown struggled but in the end had no choice but to give up the match.
Intercontinental Championship
Deacon Frost VS. Adam Bomb - champion
Frost came out with his lovely but scary assistant, Angelika. She didn’t play much of a factor during the match as Frost showed great skills against the Champion. Frost was able to use his quickness and phenomenal strength to his advantage many times. Unfortunately, his lack of experience cost him the match. Frost went for his finisher way too early and Bomb turned his neck breaker into a sidewalk slam. Frost was down but Angelika didn’t seem affected one way or the other. Bomb went to the top and hit a big flying clothesline. He signaled the end but Frost countered out of it. The match appeared to continue when all of a sudden he went for an arm ringer and Bomb reversed it. He kicked him then hit a Melt Down. Bomb hooked his leg up for the count of 3. Bomb retains the IC championship.
Lord Crash VS. Goldberg
This was a battle many fans have wanted to see since Lord Crash became the Undertaker’s new number one man. Goldberg started out as the Undertaker’s first “number 1 guy”. He was unceremoniously kicked out of the Empire and has been looking for pay back since. The two seemed quite evenly matched in the early going. LC was dominated by the angry monster, Goldberg. Goldberg hit his mule kick to the head and crouched in the corner. He waited on him then nailed him with a Spear. The fans went nuts and the arena exploded when he signaled the end. He put him in the air but LC swung his hips around and landed behind him. He rolled him up for a quick two count. The fans were outraged at this turn of events.
The match continued with Goldberg still in control but he couldn’t finish off Lord Crash. LC seemed to just wait until the match grew much longer and Goldberg ran out of gas. Lord Crash took the advantage right away when he reversed an Irish whip to the corner. He followed up and hit a spinning heel kick on him and flipped over the top rope and landed on his feet on the outside. He pulled him out and began to pummel him on the outside. He rolled him back in and continued the match a little longer. In the end, Goldberg went for the Spear once again but LC had it scouted and moved. Goldberg struck the ring post, shoulder first. Lord Crash was able to set him up and execute a devastating Crash Bomb right onto his bad shoulder. He covered for the victory.
Heavyweight Championship
“Crippler” Chris Benoit - King of the Ring '5 VS. Kurt Angle - undisputed champion
What an outstanding wrestling clinic this match turned out to be. The two chained wrestled for what seemed hours. Of course, it was only half the match. The two began exchanging blows when neither could out wrestle the other. Kurt won the exchange and took the ever so important advantage. Benoit took the advantage later in the match when he was able to reverse a waistlock and hit his three German Suplexes. He went up and attempted a Flying Headbutt but Kurt moved and locked in an Ankle lock. Benoit got to the ropes.
The match continued on with the exchange of submission attempts. Benoit was actually able to lock in a Crippler Crossface but Kurt got to the ropes. Benoit pulled him off and locked it in again. This time Kurt was able to step his leg over Benoit’s body and pull his arm out of the lock. He locked in a headlock. Benoit was able to get up and elbow his way out. He hit the ropes and went for a clothesline. Kurt ducked and locked his arm in the process. He hit an Angle Slam out of nowhere. He hooked his leg up and picked up the unbelievable victory. Kurt Angle retains his Undisputed World Championship.
After the sudden victory, Benoit rolled back in the ring and shook the hand of Kurt Angle. He rolled out and let Kurt celebrate his victory.
