January 27, 2002 | Philips Arena, Atlanta, GA. We are welcomed to the first Pay-Per-View of 2002, and the first stop on the Road To Wrestlemania, the 15th annual Royal Rumble, by JR, The King, and Michael Cole. They talk to us about how huge of an event this is, and how much it means for a superstar to win the Royal Rumble, but they also tell us about how important of a match we have before that, in Rob Van Dam vs Chris Jericho for the WWF Undisputed Championship. They then send us to Hugo Savinovich and Carlos Cabréra, the Spanish announce team, for a few words before our first match gets underway. The Dudley Boys (w/ Stacy Kiebler) vs Billy and Chuck (w/ Rico Constantino)The Dudley Boys and Stacy first made their way to the ring, to a pretty loud cheer from the fans. Stacy was extremely popular, as ever, and The Dudleys looked ready for a fight. Up next, Billy and Chuck made their way to the ring, and they were accompanied by a man with large sideburns, who was carrying what seemed to be a makeup kit. Regardless, the Champions made their way into the ring and the match began with D-Von and Chuck. Chuck, the big 270lber, as usual, tried to outmuscle his opponent, but he was unsuccessful in outmuscling the 300lb D-Von, as D-Von would push Chuck, causing him to fall on his ass. D-Von called for him to get back up, but Chuck tagged in Billy. Billy came in, and both him and D-Von went for a collar and elbow tie up, but they both broke out. They locked up, but once again, they both broke out. D-Von then went running into Billy, but Billy had the wherewithal to sidestep D-Von, and that caused D-Von to go into the ropes. Billy then shot himself into the ropes, and came back with a hard shoulder knock down on D-Von. Both men ran into the ropes again, this time, however, D-Von took Billy down with a clothesline. Both men got up and ran into the ropes once again, however, Billy would this time go for a big boot, but D-Von ducked it and sent Billy into the corner. D-Von then rained down the punches, and once he got him down, D-Von stomped on Billy numerous times. D-Von picked Billy up and bought him into the center of the ring, but Billy raked him in the eyes, which bought him just enough time to tag in Chuck. Chuck came in and caught D-Von off guard with a shot to the side of the head, and then pummelled him with strikes and blows to the upper body. Chuck then grabbed D-Von and threw him with a straight vertical suplex and went for the cover, but D-Von powered out at two. Chuck then put D-Von in a rear chinlock in the center of the ring. D-Von made it to his feet, and caught Chuck with an elbow to the midsection, and then an elbow to the top of the head. D-Von then grabbed him by the arm, and tagged in Bubba Ray. Bubba came in, and both him and D-Von sent Chuck into the ropes with an Irish whip and then sent him back down to the mat with a double clothesline. Bubba went for the pin, but it was broken up by Billy. Bubba lifted Chuck up and went for a shot, but Chuck caught Bubba with punches to the head, and then it looked like he was going to send Bubba off into the ropes, but he held on to him, bought him back towards him, picked him up, and dropped him with a bodyslam. Chuck tagged in Billy, and Chuck then lifted Billy in the air and dropped him, giving Billy more power on his elbow drop. Billy went for the cover, but Bubba kicked out. Billy picked him up and caught him with the raised knee lifts to the gut of Bubba. Billy pushed Bubba into the corner, and then climbed the turnbuckle and began to rain down the punches. He managed to hit him 6 times, until D-Von tagged himself in, and Bubba walked forward, still holding on to Billy. D-Von climbed to the top rope, and came off with a flying clothesline that turned Billy inside out. D-Von went for the cover, but Chuck came in to make the save. D-Von called for Billy to get up, and it looked like he was going for something, but Billy rolled to the outside. D-Von went after him, but while Bubba was trying to tell the referee that it was 2 on 1 out there, Chuck took D-Von down with a clothesline. Billy bought him back into the ring. While D-Von was sat down, Billy locked him in a full nelson on the ground. D-Von was reaching for the tag from Bubba, but Billy was holding on. D-Von headbutted Billy in the chest, and that was just enough to get himself out of the hold, D-Von dived across the ring, and got the tag to Bubba. Bubba came in like a house on fire, taking Billy down with a clothesline, and when he got up, another clothesline. Billy tagged Chuck and he came into the ring and swung for Bubba, but he ducked it, and instead lifted Chuck up and dropped him back down with the Bubba Bomb. However, before he could capitalise any further, Billy and Chuck's manager, who we now learned was called Rico, climbed up on the apron, and looked to cause a distraction for Bubba. Instead, Stacy pulled Rico down, and flashed her butt at him, but Rico didn't seem to care. Rico turned around, but all he got was a punch in the face from D-Von. But, while all this was going on and Chuck was still down, Billy came in and hit the Fameasser while the referee's back was turned. Chuck crawled to the cover, and got the 3 count, allowing the champions to steal a win from The Dudley Boys. Billy pulled Chuck out of the ring, and they scurried to the top of the ramp. D-Von, Bubba, and Stacy were all in the ring, clearly mad at what had just happened. D-Von climbed outside of the ring, but as he was about to leave, he saw the lifeless body of Rico lying on the ground. Bubba looked over and saw it too, which would prompt Bubba to yell at D-Von to "GET THE TABLES!". D-Von grabbed a table and threw it into the ring, and then grabbed Rico and threw him into the ring. As Stacy cheered, Bubba sent Rico into the ropes, bought him up, and D-Von sent him back down, as they would drive him through a table with the 3D, as the distraught champions looked on. This had to be a consolation of sorts for The Dudley Boyz. A promo for Wrestlemania X8 is shown. Mighty Molly vs Trish Stratus - WWF Women's ChampionshipA confident looking challenger made her way to the ring, looking prepared for her opponent. The champion Trish then made her way to the ring, seeming no less confident than Molly. The bell rang, and the two women locked up, but they both broke. Trish ran for Molly, but Molly flipped her over with the side headlock takeover. Molly wrenched on the head and neck area of Trish, but Trish used her legs and wrapped them around Molly's neck to transition into the scissorlock, however, Molly used her leverage to roll Trish onto her back to get a two count. Both women got up, faced off, and locked up again. Trish took the arm of Molly, and transitioned into a hammerlock, but Molly transitioned into the front chancery. Trish tried to fight her way out of it, but Molly dropped her on her head with a DDT. Molly went for the pin, but she only got two, and picked Trish up and locked in the rear chinlock, trapping Trish in the center of the ring. Molly appeared to be really wrenching on the hold, and Trish seemed to be getting worn down, but she still managed to get her feet on the ropes and make it back to her feet. Trish ran over to Molly again, but this time Molly took her down with a double leg, and caught her with kicks to the hamstring. Molly then got down, bent the knee of Stratus, and dug her elbow into the joint, pushing down with great force, in an attempt to prevent Trish from using the Chick Kick. Molly would then continue to wear down the champion, by locking her in a leg bar. Stratus was trying her best to fight out of it, but Molly had her in the center of the ring. However, eventually Trish managed to break free by using her free leg to kick Molly in the back, forcing her to break the hold. Molly then got up and wasted no time, going right back after the champion's leg, wrapping it around the bottom rope and pulling on it. However, due to this hold being illegal, Molly was forced to break it after the referee's count of five. Molly tried to pull Stratus to the outside, but Trish wisely used both her feet to kick Molly in the jaw, sending her to the ground. Trish then rolled to the outside herself, grabbed the challenger by the hair, and drove her face first into the barricade numerous times. Trish, now with the upper hand, sent Molly back into the ring to break the count. Stratus celebrated on the outside for a short while, and it would prove to be costly, as when she returned to the ring, Molly would kick her in the gut and send her overhead with a vertical suplex. Molly went for the cover, but Trish kicked out at 2. Molly then went back to the knee, lifting up the leg and removing the knee pad of the champion, and then dropping the elbow down onto the knee a number of times. Molly then grabbed both legs, and locked in a a single-leg Boston Crab in the center of the ring, causing pain to the whole lower body of Stratus. Molly then sat back even further, which visibly hurt Trish. However, the champion clawed with all she had and made it to the bottom rope, forcing Molly to break the hold. Molly seemed to be getting frustrated at this point, and sent Stratus spine first into the corner. Molly then lifted her to the top rope, and it looked like she was going to set up for a superplex, but Stratus countered it by kicking Molly in the face. Trish then grabbed the head of the challenger, and came soaring off the top rope with a Tornado DDT, planting Molly right on her head. Trish was about to go for the cover, but Molly very wisely rolled to the outside. However, Stratus followed her there and bought her right back in the ring. Trish looked like she was going to set her up for the Chick Kick, but Molly instead pushed Stratus away, and ran towards her try and take her down with a clothesline, but Trish ducked it, and as Molly turned around, Stratus caught her in the side of the head with the Chick Kick, which would ultimately put Molly away. Stratus celebrated on the ramp after another successful title defence, while Molly was still knocked out on the canvas. WWF Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho is backstage with Jonathan Coachman. "The Coach" asks him what his thoughts are headed into the his match with Rob Van Dam. Jericho says that his thoughts are quite simple. He says that he's going to knock "RVD" off of his pedestal, and send him straight to the bottom of the pile where he belongs. He also says that Van Dam thinks he's gotten in Jericho's head, but he's wrong, because Jericho is the master of mind games, and he will prove exactly why tonight. Jericho leaves. Diamond Dallas Page vs William Regal - WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipPage made his way to the ring first, with the crowd firmly behind him. Regal would then walk down the aisle, to extremely loud boos. JR noted as Regal made his entrance that Regal knocked Page out a couple of weeks prior. The two men would then square off in the ring, and lock up. Regal, the more technical of the two, would almost immediately take control, going behind DDP and gripping him with a waistlock. Regal would then flip Page onto the mat and onto his gut, and then roll over into a front facelock. Page rose to his feet, and as he did, Regal transitioned into a side headlock. Page took Regal into one set of ropes and shot him off into another, and as Regal came running towards Page, Page would hit him with a shoulder tackle, sending the champion down on his back. Regal then got up, and both men went into the ropes again, and this time, Regal went for the shoulder tackle, but Page seemed to be unaffected. For a third time, both men went into the ropes, and once again, Regal went for the shoulder tackle, but he barely moved Page. Regal went back into the ropes and came running towards Page again, but this time, Page took him down to the mat with a clothesline. DDP picked him up and whilst holding Regal in a front chancery position, Page drove his knee into the gut and the head of Regal. This rocked Regal, so much so that he fell into the corner turnbuckles. Page looked like he was going for a Stinger Splash, but as he came running over, Regal ducked and Page got nothing but turnbuckle. As he turned around, Regal pounded him with the combination strikes, causing Page to fall to the ground, with his back rested against the bottom turnbuckle. Regal then stomped on DDP, and used his boot and the ropes to choke Page, but he was forced to break the hold at the referee's count of 4. Regal then grabbed Page by the head and raised him to his feet. Regal waved to the crowd, and then wrapped Page's arms around his head, turned around himself, and dropped Page with the neckbreaker. Regal went for the cover, but Page kicked out at 2. Regal wasted no time in rolling Page over onto his front and locking in a camel clutch. Regal was seated far down the back of Page, which was sure to wear down the entire body of the challenger. Page used everything he had however, and managed to crawl and get his hand on the bottom rope, forcing Regal to break. Page then rolled to the outside to get his breath, but he was immediately joined by Regal, who didn't let him ret for a second, bouncing Page's head off of the ring apron, and then sending him shoulder first into the ring post. Regal then went round the other side of the ring post, pulled the arm of Page through the gap between the post and the ring, and pulled on it, trying to pull the arm out of the socket. Regal released the hold, and then rolled back into the ring to break the referee's 10 count. The champion then went back outside to meet DDP, who was now seated on the ramp, favouring his shoulder. Regal took him by the head and looked like he was going to send him crashing into the steel steps, but it was Page who reversed it and sent Regal shoulder first into the steel steps. Page then rolled back into the ring to try and recuperate for a while. Regal eventually made it back into the ring at the count of 9, and this time, DDP looked to go on the offensive. Regal made it up to his feet, and then Page would look to go to work. DDP clobbered Regal with shots to the head, and then turned him around and bought him back down on top of his head with a reverse DDT. Regal didn't go for the pin and instead got straight back up and called for Regal to get back to his feet. Page took too long whilst pandering to the fans, however, and it allowed Regal to attack the lower leg of DDP with a chop block, bringing Page back down to the mat. Regal then crawled over to the head of Page, and rained down the punches. The champion raised his arm in the air, and he then locked in the Regal stretch in an attempt to put DDP away. Regal pulled and pulled on the head of Page, but he could not finish the job and retain his title, because DDP just barely made it to the ropes, forcing the break. Regal then got back up to his feet, and while the referee's back was turned, reached into his trunks, and pulled out what appeared to be brass knuckles. Page eventually got back to his feet and Regal looked like he was going to strike DDP with the knucks, but the referee got there just in time and stopped him from using them. But while the referee wasn't looking, Regal pulled another set of knuckles out, this time from his knee pad, and went for the shot to the head, but Page would be able to duck the shot, and as Regal turned around, DDP bought him down face first with the Diamond Cutter. Page went for the pin, and he got the 3, and was crowned the new WWF Intercontinental champion, much to the visible chigrin of Regal. Page celebrated at the top of the stage, and Regal looked on angrily. Backstage, The Hurricane, Bob Holly, Billy Kidman, Maven, and Tommy Dreamer are about to receive their Royal Rumble entry numbers. First to take a ball is Billy Kidman, who draws number 20. Maven then takes a ball, and draws number 21. Bob Holly then takes a ball, and draws number 12. Tommy Dreamer then takes a ball, and draws number 9. Finally, The Hurricane takes a ball, and draws number 28 to his visible excitement and the visible jealousy of the other men in the room. Hurricane leaves looking extremely happy. Rob Van Dam vs Chris Jericho - WWF Undisputed ChampionshipVan Dam, the more popular of the two combatants, made his way to the ring first, to a great reaction from the fans. Jericho then made his entrance, to resounding boos. The two men faced off in the ring, with Jericho having stuff to say to Van Dam, but RVD, looking extremely focused, just ignored it. RVD did his trademark taunt, and the crowd gave him a huge ovation. Jericho did his, and all he got, once again, was resounding boos. Both men locked up, and Jericho took the advantage almost immediately, turning the tie up into a hammer lock, and then a headlock. Van Dam pushed Jericho into the ropes, and then sent him off into the other set of ropes. Van Dam first went underneath Jericho, then leapfrogged over him, and as Jericho came back towards him for the 3rd time, RVD monkey-flipped him across the ring. Jericho got back to his feet, and once again, the two men faced off in the center of the ring. Van Dam once again did his signature taunt, but this time, Jericho would slap him right in the face. Van Dam didn't seem to be pleased, and instead kicked Jericho in the head. RVD then threw him into the corner, and clobbered Jericho with a whole number of punches and kicks. Jericho then rolled to the outside to try and gain his bearings, but Van Dam would seize the opportunity, and go flying to the outside with a topé over the top rope, knocking Jericho for a loot. Van Dam picked Jericho up and bought him back into the ring, but as he went to set Jericho up for something, Jericho poked him in the eye, momentarily blinding him. Jericho then took advantage, using his hand to sweep the foot of Van Dam and send him throat first into the middle rope. Jericho then didn't waste any time in using his knee to drive the throat and neck of RVD further into the ropes, causing him even more pain. Jericho would then begin punking out Van Dam, slapping him in the face and kicking him in the back of the head. As Van Dam was seated, Jericho then locked in an rear chinlock, looking to wrench on the throat to further wear down his quick footed challenger. Jericho continued to tighten his grip. Van Dam used everything in his body to make it to his feet, and got his hand on the rope. Jericho maintained his grip until the referee's count of 4, but he was eventually forced to break it. Jericho then got up and rolled to the outside. He pulled the throat of Van Dam down on the bottom rope, crushing the windpipe of RVD. Jericho broke the hold before the 5 count, and then ran and hit Van Dam in the head with a drive-by kick, knocking the challenger silly. Jericho then pulled Van Dam to the outside, and attempted to send RVD head first into the ring post, but Van Dam blocked it, and instead bounced Jericho's head off of the post, causing Jericho to fall against the barricade. Van Dam then rolled under the bottom rope and back outside to break the count, and then kicked Jericho in the chest numerous times while he was rested against the barricade. RVD then lifted him up and rested him over the security wall, climbed up onto the ring apron and did his signature taunt, and then came flying off the ring apron with a spinning leg drop, putting his body on the line and damn near decapitating Jericho in the process. Van Dam then wasted no time, getting both himself and Jericho back in the ring to make sure the match didn't end on a count out. Jericho however had the wherewithal to duck a kick from RVD, and when Van Dam turned around, "Y2J" sent him across the ring with a German Suplex, turning the challenger inside out. Jericho went for the cover, but Van Dam kicked out. Jericho lifted the head of RVD off of the mat, and hit him with a number of forearm strikes to the face. Jericho then bought him to his feet, pushed him into the corner, and lit up the chest of Van Dam with the knife edge chops. Van Dam fell away from the corner clutching his chest, and Jericho grabbed him by the legs and dropped him throat across the top rope with a flapjack. Van Dam fell on his back and Jericho went for the cover, but RVD kicked out at two. Van Dam started crawling on his hands and knees, and once again, Jericho would begin to taunt him, kicking him in the gut and slapping him in the face. Van Dam got back to his feet after a while, and as Jericho went for a kick to the gut, RVD wisely moved out of the way and caught Jericho in the back of the head with a spin kick, knocking the champion throat first into the ropes. Jericho turned around, and Van Dam launched him once again with a Monkey Flip, sending the champion out of the ring. Whilst Jericho was on the outside, still rocked from the Monkey Flip he just took, Van Dam did his signature "ROB! VAN! DAM!" taunt, and went soaring over the top rope and to the outside with a slingshot crossbody, taking Jericho out. Van Dam got back up, and the crowd gave him a huge ovation. RVD climbed up onto the apron and he looked like was about to get back in the ring, but the wise Jericho swept the legs of Van Dam out from under him, causing him to fall and hit his jaw on the hardest part of the ring, the apron. With Van Dam visibly in pain from hitting his head on the apron, Jericho went on the offensive, hitting the challenger with forearms and elbows to the face, and then bouncing his head off of the announce table. Jericho then bought Van Dam back into the ring, and while Van Dam was down, Jericho mocked him, copying his signature taunt, but yelling "Y! 2! J!" instead of "ROB! VAN! DAM!" Jericho then began to open his list of 1004 holds, locking his quick-footed opponent in an Indian Deathlock in the center of the ring. JR touched on the fact that Van Dam owns 2 pinfall victories over Jericho in recent weeks, including a singles win this past week on Raw. Jericho still had the hold locked in, and he looked like he might have been able to put the challenger away, but Van Dam made it to the ropes. Jericho got straight back up and back to work, putting the boots to RVD whilst he was down. Jericho then picked him up, bought him back to his feet, and sent him into the ropes with an Irish whip. Jericho looked like he was gonna hit something, but Van Dam was smart enough to jump into the ropes and come back with a springboard martial arts kick right to Jericho's face, knocking the champion down. Van Dam, with the crowd behind him, looked to capitalise on his momentum, and keep the odds in his favour. Jericho got back to his feet, and Van Dam hit a flurry of kicks on the champion, and finally one last kick to the side of the head that knocked the champion down. With "Y2J" in position, Van Dam ran across the ring and came back with some Rolling Thunder, crushing the sternum of Jericho. Van Dam lifted Jericho up and caught him with a kick to the gut, and then, whilst Jericho was hunched over, RVD kicked him in the head a number of times, and then finally caught him in the side of the head with a spin kick, almost knocking the champion out. Van Dam called for it and he went to the top, possibly looking for the 5 Star Frog Splash, but he spent too much time trying to fire up the crowd, as he would be stopped in his tracks by Jericho, who took out the ankles of Van Dam, causing him to land in an unfavourable position on the top turnbuckle. Jericho then climbed up to the top himself, and called for something. He then grabbed Van Dam by the head, stood up, and bought both himself and Van Dam crashing to the mat with an incredible superplex, doing damage to his own body in order to win the match. It took him a while, but eventually Jericho crawled to the cover and draped his arm over Van Dam, but the resilient challenger got his foot on the rope at 2.9, forcing the match to continue. Jericho put his hands on his head in disbelief, and then jumped into the middle rope and came flying off, hitting a picture perfect Lionsault. Jericho once again made the cover, but once again, Van Dam would not quit, and he got the shoulder up. Jericho now appeared to be getting mad, and he got up, pointed at RVD, and yelled at him to get up. Fed up with waiting, Jericho eventually walked over and tried to grab Van Dam himself, but as it turned out, the challenger was playing possum, as he rolled Jericho up in a small package, but the incredibly smart Jericho managed to roll through and kick out. Jericho got up and ran after Van Dam, but RVD moved and Jericho got sent shoulder first into the corner post. And when he turned around, Van Dam was waiting for him, as he would send Jericho crashing against the corner turnbuckles with a running missile dropkick. Van Dam then climbed up onto the 2nd turnbuckle, and the fans knew what was coming next, as Van Dam was about rain down 10 punches onto Jericho's head. The fans in the Philips Arena counted along, and RVD hit the full 10 punches on the champion. After he finish caving in the skull of Jericho, it looked like he was going to go for another Monkey Flip, but Jericho managed to pull off an incredible counter, by dropping Van Dam's feet down to his arms, rolling him over onto his gut, and trapping him in the Walls Of Jericho in the center of the ring. Van Dam's lower body at this point in the match had to be killing him, and Jericho could sense that. The champion pulled and pulled on the legs of the challenger, but arguably one of the toughest men in all of the WWF managed to get his hands on the bottom rope. Jericho now almost began to throw a temper tantrum, yelling and smacking his hands on the canvas. He waited for Van Dam to get to his feet, and when he finally did, Jericho went for a big clothesline, but RVD ducked out of the way. Van Dam then came running for Jericho looking for a clothesline of his own, but "Y2J" pulled referee Mike Chioda in front of him, using him as a human shield, causing Van Dam to clothesline Chioda instead. Van Dam went down to check on Chioda, but as he got up, Jericho wasted no time in hitting the challenger with a low blow, which more than likely did double the damage after the rough landing Van Dam took on the top rope earlier. Jericho then rolled to the outside, went under the ring, grabbed a chair, and bought it into the ring. Whilst the challenger was on his knees, still visibly affected by the kick to the groin he took moments ago, Jericho swung and damn near took Van Dam's head off with the chair shot. Jericho then stood over him and raised the chair over his head in celebration. Van Dam got back up to his feet, and now he was busted wide open from that chair shot, or, as JR said, he was "bleeding like a stuffed pig". Jericho then once again disrespected the challenger, slapping him in the face and verbally punking him out. But whilst Jericho was doing this, Van Dam had the wherewithal to hit the champion with a low blow of his own, sending the champ himself to his knees. Van Dam then got back up, grabbed Jericho and bought him to his feet, grabbed the chair, threw it at Jericho, and almost took his head off with the Van Daminator. Van Dam went for the pin, but there was no referee, so it couldn't be counted. RVD walked over to Chioda and tried to revive him, shaking him and slapping him, but while all this was going on, the bloody Jericho crawled up behind Van Dam and got him with the rollup, and by this time, the referee had a little life back in him, and he was able to count to 3, giving Jericho the win and allowing him to retain his Championship. Jericho quickly grabbed his title and scurried up the entrance ramp to get away from Van Dam. Jericho sat down on the stage and hugged his belt, while Van Dam looked on in disgust, clearly disappointed that he couldn't get the job done. All of the competitors in the Royal Rumble are shown in the locker room, looking on at a TV. A promo for the 15th annual Royal Rumble is shown, giving us stats and facts about past events and this years event. JR, The King, and Michael Cole talk to us for a while, just before we get underway. 15th Annual 30 Man Royal Rumble MatchEntrant #1:Booker T Michael Cole touched on the fact that Booker T was only entering at #1 in the Royal Rumble because he was the last man eliminated in the battle royal on Raw a few weeks prior. Entrant #2:Rikishi King notified us that it had been a short while since we've seen Rikishi, due to the fact that he had been recovering from shoulder surgery. Booker and Rikishi immediately went for each other, but Book was almost immediately overpowered by the 350lb Samoan behemoth. Booker got up and the two men faced off again. Rikishi ran for Booker, but Book wisely sidestepped him and clubbed him in the shoulder that he recently underwent surgery on. Booker than caught him with a kick to the knee, bringing the big man to his knees. Booker then struck Rikishi with a number of blows to the head, before Rikishi folded Booker in half with a heavy shot to the gut. Rikishi then got up and tried to whip Booker off into the ropes, but Book managed to counter it and send Rikishi into the ropes himself, and when Rikishi came back towards him, Booker took him down with a spinebuster. Entrant #3: FaarooqOne half of The APA, Faarooq, came running down the ramp and immediately went to work on Rikishi alongside Booker, trying to get rid of the big man, who had to be a favourite to win, even with his early entry. Faarooq and Booker kept Rikishi grounded and repeatedly punched and kicked him in an attempt to take him out. They got him back to his feet, sent him into the ropes, and took him back down with a double clothesline, showing why they are both tag team specialists. Matt bought him up and it looked like he was going for something, but Rikishi hit him in the head with his elbow and prevented him from pulling off the move. Just as it looked like Rikishi was finally going to mount some offence however, Booker came in from behind and took him straight back down, allowing Faarooq to come back over and help Booker continue to wear down Rikishi. Entrant #4: Stevie RichardsRichards came sprinting down the ramp and immediately went after Booker T, after Booker cost him the opportunity to become the #30 entrant a few weeks prior on Raw. Richards pushed Booker into the corner and immediately went on the offensive, hitting him with knees to the midsection, punches to the head, and kicks to the face when Booker fell to the ground. Stevie stepped back and it seemed like he was going for a baseball slide, but Booker moved at the last second, causing Stevie to get nothing but turnbuckle. Stevie got up and as he turned around, Booker hit him with the Book-End to momentarily take him out of the equation. Meanwhile in the corner, Faarooq looked like he might have had Rikishi eliminated, but the 350lber fought back and kicked him right in the head. Rikishi got down and nearly took Faarooq's head off with a superkick. Booker then came after Rikishi, but he had the same fate as Faarooq, and ate a superkick himself. Entrant #5: Scotty 2 HottyScotty came down to the ring, and with everybody down, him and Rikishi took the opportunity. Scotty pulled a pair of yellow sunglasses out of his pocket, the lights dimmed, and Scotty and Rikishi began doing their signature dance in the middle of the Royal Rumble match. The crowd were loving it, and they all chanted for Scotty to do the worm. Scotty looked around, jumped around the ring, and pulled off a picture perfect worm. But when he got up, Stevie Richards came up behind him and sent him over the top rope, causing Scotty to become the first man eliminated. Rikishi, still with his glasses on, went for Stevie and tried to eliminate him, but Stevie managed to get out of the way and hit Rikishi with a Stevie Kick, making the big man groggy. Stevie ran and attempted to push Rikishi over the top rope, but the big man hit him with a shot to the head, and then came running and crushed Stevie with a crossbody. Meanwhile in the corner, Booker T and Faarooq were trying to eliminate each other, but both men were squashed by a Stinger Splash from Rikishi. Entrant #6: TazTaz, who was a favourite heading into the match after strong showings in recent weeks against the likes of Steve Austin, among others, but the odds were stacked against him due to his early entry number. Regardless, "The Human Suplex Machine" came straight down to the ring with a purpose, and immediately set his sights on everybody in the match. One by one, Taz got a hold of everybody and suplexed them. Richards, Booker, and Faarooq all got launched, until Taz finally got his hands on Rikishi. The huge Samoan tried to fight out of it, but Taz threw him over his head with a massive belly-to-belly. Booker T then tried to catch Taz off guard, but the New York native spun him around and sent him flying with a huge German. Taz then tried to seize the opportunity and eliminate Booker while he was down, but Booker was wise enough to kick Taz in the gut. Booker himself then tried to eliminate Taz, but Taz managed to fight his way out this time. Booker went for a punch, but Taz ducked, and threw Booker over his head with a Dragon Suplex, crushing Booker's sternum. Entrant #7: RavenThe ECW original, and (apparently) former 27 time WWF Hardcore Champion, Raven, made his way to the ring and got straight to work on Faarooq, trying to eliminate him, and he was soon joined by Stevie Richards, who helped him try to get rid of Faarooq. They were unsuccessful in eliminating him, but it would appear that the two former friends and stablemates back in ECW had formed an alliance once again, but this time in the Royal Rumble. Raven and Stevie used double team moves on everybody in the match, including Taz, who they ironically double suplexed. They went over to Rikishi and set him up in the corner for an elimination, but the big man wasn't going to have it, and instead, he took both men down with a double clothesline. Entrant #8: Matt HardyFormer tag team champion Matt Hardy made his way to the ring, and he was met by Raven and Stevie as soon as he got in the ring. Raven and Stevie both went for the double clothesline, but Hardy managed to duck out of the way, and that allowed him to have both men in position for an impressive double side-effect. Hardy then turned his attention to Rikishi, whilst over in the opposite corner, Faarooq was stomping away on Taz. Faarooq and Hardy looked at each other, and Taz and Rikishi were sent crashing head first into each other by Matt and Faarooq. King pointed out that Hardy and Faarooq don't necessarily like each other, but they both shared a common goal, and that was to get rid of every man in the ring. We then saw Stevie Richards go after Matt and Faarooq, but both men evaded his attack, and Stevie was sent sailing over the top rope and to the outside, giving us our second elimination of the match. Entrant #9: Tommy DreamerAnother ECW original, Tommy Dreamer, walked down the ramp, but before he got into the match, he grabbed a few toys from under the ring, including 2 chairs, a trash can, a table, and a kendo stick. Dreamer got into the ring, and he set his sights on longtime enemy Raven. Raven tried to plead with Dreamer, but it was to no avail, as Tommy would smack him over the head with a trash can. Raven fell down on his back, and Dreamer then grabbed a kendo stick, and repeatedly caned Raven across the back, bringing up welts on his back, and lighting him up a bright red colour. Dreamer bought him up to his feet, and then sent him over the top and to the floor, eliminating him. Dreamer then went after Taz, striking him in the corner, whilst on the other side of the ring, the short lived partnership of Faarooq and Matt Hardy had imploded, as the two men were brawling with each other and trying to get their respective eliminations. Faarooq threw Hardy over the top and tried to punch him until he fell off of the apron, but Matt ducked, and instead pulled Faarooq down throat first across the top rope, giving himself a chance to get back in the ring. Entrant #10: Jeff HardyThe younger Hardy boy and one of the most popular young superstars in all of the WWF, Jeff Hardy, wasted no time in getting into the ring and helping his brother, Matt. Jeff came in and with the help of Matt, clotheslined Faarooq over the top rope and eliminated him. The Hardyz then went over to the other corner and tried to eliminate Tommy Dreamer, but Tommy was having none of it, and instead cracked both Hardy Boyz over the head with chair shots. Dreamer then stood in the center of the ring to do his trademark scream, but Booker T came up from behind him, and managed to flip over the top and eliminate him, much to Tommy's chigrin. Booker then tried to eliminate Jeff Hardy, but Jeff fought out, hit the Twist Of Fate on Booker and sent him down to the mat. Jeff then saw the opportunity and climbed to the top to go for the Swanton Bomb, but Booker got up, pushed Hardy off the top rope, and sent him crashing through the table on the outside that Dreamer set up earlier. Entrant #11: "Stone Cold" Steve AustinThe glass shattered, and arguably the most popular WWF superstar of all time stormed his way down the ramp to extremely loud cheers from the crowd. Austin ripped his vest off, got in the ring, and began opening a can of whoop-ass on everybody in the match. He first walked over to Booker T who was in the corner, and stomped a mudhole in him and he then walked it dry. Matt Hardy got in his face, but Austin shut him up with a Stunner. Austin then tried to eliminate Rikishi, but the big man was having none of it. Austin tried to soften him up with strikes, but Rikishi then went for the clothesline, however Austin ducked, and hit Rikishi with a Stunner. The other man in the match, Taz, then faced off with Austin. The two had an encounter a couple of weeks before the match, and Austin knew what Taz was capable of. Both men began exchanging strikes, with Austin gaining the upper hand. Austin took Taz down with a clothesline and went for his signature elbow drop, but Taz moved, and when Austin got back to his feet, Taz went for the big German Suplex, but Stone Cold fought his way out of it, and then hit a Stunner on Taz. Entrant #12: Hardcore HollyThe veteran Hardcore Holly came down to the ring and immediately bought the fight to Rikishi, currently the biggest man in the match. Holly tried to get Rikishi up for an Alabama Slam, but he couldn't do it, and as a result, Rikishi superkicked his head off. Rikishi then looked at Austin and the 2 went at it once again. Stone Cold fired away with punches, but it did practically nothing, as Rikishi lifted Austin up onto his shoulders, and then crushed him with a Samoan Drop. Rikishi then picked up Booker T and tried to get rid of him, but Booker wasn't going to let that happen, and he instead caught the big man with a scissors kick. He tried to throw Rikishi over the top, and he almost eliminated him, but 'Kish fought his way out of it. Over in the corner, Stone Cold and Hardcore Holly were both trying to eliminate each other. Holly looked like he had the advantage, and came very close to flipping Austin over the top rope in the corner, but the "Texas Rattlesnake" kicked Holly in his head, and then came over with the Lou Thesz Press, and rained down the punches onto the head of Holly. Entrant #13: BradshawThe other half of the APA, Bradshaw, stormed his way down the ramp and began to bring his unique brand of violence to the match almost immediately. Booker T went after him to try and get a quick elimination, but Bradshaw moved out of the way, and instead took Booker's head off with a clothesline. He then tried to help Hardcore Holly eliminate one of the favourites in the match, Stone Cold, by pushing him over the top rope. Austin tried to hang on, but after a while of struggling, Bradshaw and Holly managed to flip him over the top rope and eliminate him. However, that's what Holly and Bradshaw thought. In actuality, Austin had barely hung on, and managed to get back up onto the apron. By this point, Holly and Bradshaw had both moved away and tried to eliminate Booker T and Taz, respectively. Bradshaw got up and turned his attention to Austin. Bradshaw went for a clothesline from hell, but Austin ducked it, and instead sent Bradshaw crashing into the bottom rope in the corner. Just as it looked like Austin was about to do something, Rikishi superkicked him and sent him into the corner. With Austin, Taz, Booker T, and Bradshaw all in position, Rikishi saw the opportunity and he took it, giving every man in the match a stinkface. Hardcore Holly tried to attack Rikishi from behind, but Kish was smart enough to avoid it, and instead threw Holly down and gave him a stinkface of his own. Entrant #14: Lance StormArguably the most technically sound wrestler on the entire roster, Lance Storm, walked down to the ramp, but he was holding a Canadian flag and a microphone. Instead of getting in the ring, Storm slowly walked down the ramp and began to talk. He said..: "I may have been given the chance to earn the right to go to Wrestlemania in this match, but it makes me sick that I have to do it in such a crappy state like Georgia. Hell, you call this place the land of the free? More like the land of the hypocrites. Each and every single one of you are nothing more than racists. This match is the first opportunity I've been given since coming to America, and I'm not going to waste it, since it more than likely will be the last." Storm finally got in the ring after wasting a lot of time talking, and began to assault Booker T over in the corner, stomping away at his chest. He then dragged the former 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x WCW Champion into the center of the ring and surprisingly locked in a sharpshooter. Michael Cole noted that it's not possible to win the match by submission, but it was still a wise strategy by Storm to wear Booker down. Entrant #15: KaneLance Storm still had the sharpshooter locked in in the center of the ring, and he looked like he'd seen a ghost when Kane's pyro and theme went off. Kane walked down the ramp and pointed at Storm, who was begging and pleading with Kane not to hurt him. Storm tried to jump over the top rope, but Kane grabbed him by the head and bought him back into the ring. Kane was holding Lance by his head, and Lance was literally begging Kane to let him go. His pleading however got him nowhere, as Kane rocked him with one of his trademark uppercuts. Kane then began to hit Storm with a number of strikes, and then picked him up and nearly kicked his head off with a big boot. With Storm practically knocked out, Kane picked him up, grabbed him by the throat, and signalled for the chokeslam.. Entrant #16: ChristianBefore Kane could even hit the chokeslam, Christian came running down the ramp and attacked the 323lber from behind. Christian and Storm then double teamed Kane, beating him down while "The Big Red Machine" was still down on the mat. Storm lifted Kane to his feet, which allowed Christian to punch Kane in the faces number of times, almost busting him open in the process. Christian then grabbed Kane and bought him down on the mat with a bulldog. Christian and Storm then continued to stomp away at Kane while Stone Cold, who was in the corner, was brawling with Bradshaw. Bradshaw got the upper hand and went for the clothesline from hell, but Austin lowbridged the top rope and sent Bradshaw to the outside, eliminating him from the match. By this point, Lance Storm had rolled to the outside and was waving the Canadian flag that he bought to the ring on the outside, to loud boos from the fans. Entrant #17: Kurt AngleKurt Angle, pretty much the most patriotic guy on the whole roster, who also can't exactly be considered "pally" with Kane, took exception to Storm and Christian's antics, ran down to the ring, punched Lance right in the head, and sent him back into the ring. Christian came after Angle, but Kurt dodged his attack, and instead caught him and threw him over his shoulder with the Angle Slam. Lance Storm then came running towards Angle, but he got a belly-to-belly suplex for his troubles. With both Christian and Storm down, Angle turned his attention to Taz, the other man in the match who was extremely well versed in suplexes. Kurt tried to go for a belly-to-belly, but Taz avoided it and instead threw Angle across the ring with a German. Rikishi then came after Taz, but "The Human Suplex Machine caught him with a drop toe hold, causing Rikishi to hit his throat across the top rope. Taz then mustered up all the strength in his body to eliminate Rikishi by throwing him over the top rope. Over the other side of the ring, Lance Storm went for a superkick, but Kurt Angle caught his foot and locked in the Ankle Lock. Entrant #18: TestWhile Angle was wrenching on Lance Storm's ankle with the Ankle Lock, he paid no attention to the fact that the 270lb monster Test was coming into the match, and he paid the price for it, as Test almost kicked his head off of his shoulders with a big boot. Kane then came after Test, and Test tried to go on the offensive, but Kane seemed unaffected by the clubbing blows Test hit him with. Test backed into the ropes and came back towards Kane, but Kane instead grabbed him by the throat and nearly chokeslammed him through the mat. Kane however didn't bargain on Christian and Storm coming and attacking him from behind, as the two would begin to beat him down with shots the head, back, and legs. Christian and Storm tried to eliminate Kane, but Taz would come up from behind, grab Christian by the hair, and eliminate Christian, leaving Storm to face the consequences of what he and Christian had done in the match. Storm once again tried to beg Kane, but once again, it got him nowhere. Taz grabbed him, and in an absolutely incredible feat of strength, threw him over the top rope with a belly-to-belly suplex, eliminating him. While Taz and Kane celebrated and trash talked Storm and Christian, Test came up from behind and flipped both men over the top rope, eliminating them both. Entrant #19: D-Von DudleyD-Von, who had unsuccessfully challenged for the tag team championships earlier in the evening, looked to bounce back and get a huge win in the Royal Rumble. But before he got in the ring, he went under it and pulled out a table, to the loud cheers of the fans. He then got into the ring and began brawling with practically everybody in the match. Booker T, who had been in the match for roughly half an hour by this point, went over the D-Von and tried to attack him, but he would live to regret it, as D-Von planted him back first into the mat with a spinebuster. Test then got all up in D-Von's face, but D-Von's face and tried for a clothesline, but D-Von wisely ducked it and instead threw Test over his head with a vertical suplex. Hardcore Holly tried to pull a fast one on D-Von by attacking him from behind and eliminating him, but D-Von used Holly's own momentum against him and sent him sailing over the top rope and to the outside, eliminating him. Entrant #20: Billy KidmanThe WCW alumnus and ever exciting Billy Kidman quickly made his way down the ramp and got in the ring. Stone Cold went for something, but Kidman ducked it, jumped into the middle rope, and came flying off of it with a springboard elbow, connecting right in Austin's chest. Kidman then went after D-Von Dudley who was in the corner, and came flying into him with a Stinger Splash. D-Von then fell on his back, and Kidman pulled off an incredible standing Shooting Star Press. Kidman then tried to eliminate D-Von, but he was unable to as the veteran instincts of D-Von kicked in and he managed to avoid it. Kidman came running towards D-Von, but D-Von took him down with a flying shoulder block. D-Von then got up, but as he turned around, Stone Cold would jump on him and rain down the punches with a Lou Thesz Press. Austin then got up, walked over to Billy Kidman and dropped him with a stunner. Booker T then got in his face, and Austin hit Booker with a stunner too. Entrant #21: MavenThe young upstart, Maven, eagerly ran down the ramp and climbed into the ring. He immediately focused on trying to eliminate Test, the current biggest guy in the match. He went over to the corner and pounded away on Test's midsection, and after a while, Stone Cold helped him out, and after another period of time, Billy Kidman joined them. They came close to getting him over the top rope, but Test was able to fight his way out and run into the ropes. When he came back, he nearly caved Billy Kidman's head in with a big boot. Maven then got up in Test's face, but Maven ducked the attempted big boot and instead bought Test down on the back of his head with a Reverse DDT. Maven then picked him up and tried to eliminate him, but Test pushed him away, picked him up, and crushed him with a running powerslam. Meanwhile, D-Von Dudley was in the corner trying to wear down Booker T, but Booker poked him right in the eye, stopping him in his tracks. Test, now looking dominant, grabbed Billy Kidman by the head and started to toy with him, slapping him in the face and piefacing him. Test then tried to throw him over, but Stone Cold stopped him and hit him with the Stunner, which Austin hit with so much force it sent Test over the top rope and to the floor. Entrant #22: The UndertakerFrom the moment Undertaker's theme hit, Austin immediately turned his attention to the entrance ramp. Undertaker appeared at the top of the ramp on his motorcycle, and he stared Austin down. Undertaker drove his bike down the ramp, parked it, and then got in the ring. He went after Maven, but before he had a chance, Austin came up from behind him, and in an absolutely incredible turn of events, eliminated The Undertaker after just 11 seconds in the match. Undertaker, clearly beside himself with rage, got back in the ring and attacked Austin from behind. Undertaker threw him straight over the top rope and to the floor. Undertaker then joined him, but at first he was met with shots from Austin. Undertaker then hit a big boot and sent Austin back first into the security wall with an Irish Whip. Undertaker then rained down the shots on Austin, busting him open. Taker grabbed the steel steps, removed the top set, grabbed Austin, and put him in position for the tombstone Piledriver. Security, referees, trainers, and EMTs begged Undertaker not to do it, but Undertaker jumped and hit the tombstone on the steel steps, possible breaking Austin's surgically repaired neck. Undertaker looked at Austin's lifeless body for a while, then left. Entrant #23: TajiriThe Japanese buzzsaw made his way into the match and began battling with another Cruiserweight, Billy Kidman. Tajiri got the upper hand, and locked in the Tarantula Submission hold on Kidman. Tajiri released it, and then came flying into Kidman with a martial arts kick to the face of Kidman. Tajiri looked like he was mounting some offence, but the big man, Test, kicked his head off with a big boot. With almost everybody in the ring down, Test celebrated in the center of the ring, raising his arms in the air. However, he was caught from behind by the rookie, Maven, who flipped him over the top rope and sent him to the floor in a huge upset. Test began yelling on the outside and tried to get back in the ring, but referees and security blocked him from entering it. Meanwhile, D-Von Dudley was cleaning house, laying waste to everybody in the ring, and dropping Billy Kidman right on his back with a spinebuster. Entrant #24: Bubba Ray DudleyThe half brother of D-Von, Bubba Dudley, came running down the ramp and immediately joined his tag team partner in the match. Immediately, both men bought Booker T, who JR pointed out had been in the match for over an hour by this point, right down on his sternum with the Dudley Death Drop, otherwise known as the 3D. Tajiri then had the same fate, as did Billy Kidman. With Maven the only other man in the match, The Dudleyz went for him, but Maven was also one of the freshest men in the match. Maven didn't look like he was going to go down with a fight, and when the Dudleyz attempted to set up Maven for the 3D, the Tough Enough winner hit D-Von right on the chin with an impressive standing dropkick, knocking D-Von into Bubba. Maven then tried to take advantage of the situation and eliminate D-Von Dudley, but Bubba was able to stop him and keep D-Von in the match. Maven went for a clothesline on Bubba, but he was able to duck it, and dropped Maven "right on his ass" as JR put it, with a Bubba Bomb. Entrant #25: Crash HollyThe other Holly Cousin, Crash, made his way down the ramp with an impressive entry number, but luck clearly was not on his side as he got into the ring. He was grabbed by D-Von Dudley and seconds after entering, bought down on his face and stomach with the 3D. The Dudleyz then decided to split up for a while and focus on eliminating people. Bubba tried to get Booker T, who was now on the apron, out of the match, but Booker showed tremendous smarts and used Bubba's own momentum against him to eliminate him from the match. D-Von saw the whole thing happen and tried for something on Booker, however Booker was able to counter it into the Book-End, planting D-Von right on his spine. Booker, who was now clearly worn out after over an hour in the match, tried to get rid of more people to give him a better chance of winning. He first tried to eliminate Crash Holly, the freshest man in the match (which King pointed out of a questionable tactic), and lifted him over on the apron. Booker punched Crash in the head numerous times to try and get him off, but Crash instead went for a knee to the gut. Booker was able to block it, and sent Crash falling to the arena floor, eliminating him. Entrant #26: Val VenisVal Venis, who recently returned in November, made his way to the ring with a purpose, and set his sights on eliminating Billy Kidman. Kidman came towards Venis, but he used Kidman's speed to his advantage and sent Billy flying straight over the top and eliminated him. Booker tried for something on Val, but the former Intercontinental Champion flipped him straight over his head with a back body drop. Venis then grabbed D-Von Dudley by the head and tried to throw him over, but D-Von hung on and fought back against Val, connecting with blows to the stomach and some stiff European uppercuts. Meanwhile, Booker T was in the corner with Tajiri, and just as Booker was going to attempt a move, Tajiri blinded him with green mist. With Booker's eyes clearly burning, Tajiri then took advantage of the situation and hit Booker with the Buzzsaw kick. Entrant #27: Triple HThe Philips Arena nearly came unglued, as the familiar sound of Triple H's entrance theme hit for the first time since he was taken out by Triple H months prior. The sound in the arena was deafening when "The Game" appeared at the top of the ramp and did his trademark spit of water. Trips ran down the ramp and immediately began cleaning house. First Tajiri came after him, and Triple H made short work of "The Japanese Buzzsaw", eliminating him straight away. D-Von Dudley and Val Venis would both have the same fate, being eliminated at the hands of "The Cerebral Assassin". Booker T got up, but before he could even get a shot in, the 'Tripper put him into the mat with a spinebuster. Maven then got in the face of Triple H, but he received a Pedigree from The Game, the first one the fans had seen in months. Triple H got up and did his signature pose, to an absolutely incredible ovation from the Atlanta crowd. Triple H then grabbed Booker T by the dreadlocks and attempted to throw him over the top rope, but once again, Booker held on, showing great resiliency, keeping himself in the match. Entrant #28: The HurricaneThe Hurricane, who was incredibly lucky to receive the number 28 entry, got into the ring and showed no fear towards Triple H, striking a pose in front of him. Triple H looked on in disapproval, grabbed Hurricane by the mask, and threw him out of the match almost straight after he got in. Whilst HHH was at talking trash to The Hurricane, Booker T tried to blindside The Game and eliminate him from behind, but Trips wasn't having any of it. Triple H turned around and met Booker T with shots to the head, but Booker went tit for tat, giving Booker every bit as good as he got, despite having been in the match for an hour and fifteen minutes. Triple H missed a shot to the head, and Booker T used that momentary display of ring rust to catch The Game with a kick to the hamstring that he had previously injured, which put him on the shelf for months. Booker first used the time to his advantage, and then started kicking the leg of Trips to further wear him down. Entrant #29: The RockThe crowd erupted for "The People's Champion", who got straight into the ring and rocked Booker T with a number of shots, dropping him to the mat. Maven also came after The Rock, but basically the same thing that happened to Booker happened to him. With both men down, Rock saw the opportunity, removed both elbow pads, ran into the ropes, and came back with seperate People's Elbow's. But when he got up, Rocky had his brain rattled by a high knee from Triple H. Trips then grabbed Maven and eliminated him from the match after an impressive showing from the rookie. Trips then struck The Rock with punches to the head, and then almost busted his nose wide open with a facebuster. Rock stumbled towards The Game, and he got spiked right on his head with a DDT. Triple H got back up but he was met with a groggy Booker T, who caught him in the side of the head with punches. Booker connected with a shot to the gut, and Booker went for another shot, but Triple H grabbed him and sent him through the ropes and onto the apron. Entrant #30: EdgeOne of the most popular young superstars in the World Wrestling Federation, Edge, came down the ramp like lightning and immediately got in the ring. Showing shades of the battle royal a few weeks prior, in which he earned the number 30 spot in the Royal Rumble, Edge speared Booker T while he was on the apron, not only eliminating him after almost an hour and 20 minutes in the match, but sending him flying straight into the announce table. Triple H span Edge around and Irish whipped him into the ropes, but Edge came flying back with a spear to Triple H. Edge then focused on the only other man left in the match, The Rock. Edge unloaded on Rocky, and then dropped him in his head with the Edge-U-Cution. Edge then picked up The Rock and bounced his head off of the top turnbuckle numerous times. Edge stepped back and went for a spear on The Rock, but Rock moved and Edge instead went shoulder first into the ring post. When Edge turned around, Rock was there to meet him. Rocky went for the Rock Bottom, but Edge hit "The Great One" with elbows to the side of the head. Edge went for a clothesline on The Rock, but Rock was able to duck it. Edge, now on the ropes, managed to avoid a shot to the face from Rocky, pushed Rock away, and when he came back, Edge lifted him up and dropped him throat first across the top rope with a Flapjack. Edge looked like he was going to eliminate The Rock, but before he had a chance, Triple H connected to Edge's nose with a Facebuster. With Edge leaning against the ropes, Triple H hit him with a clothesline, causing Edge to get eliminated, which bought us down to the last two men in the match, The Rock and Triple H, entry number 28 and 29, respectively. The two stared each other down for a while, and began unloading on each other. Rock gained the advantage at first, sending Triple H into the corner with punches to the head. Rocky stepped back for another punch, but he was caught by Triple H, who picked him up over his shoulder and tried to throw him out. Rock managed to get his way out by sliding out of it and landing on his feet behind Triple H. Rock called for the Rock Bottom, and he set Triple H up when he turned around. Triple H fought back by pushing him away, but Rock just came straight back and got him in position for the Rock Bottom again. This time, Rock connected. Rocky took a few seconds to recuperate, and walked over to the other side of the ring, picked up Triple H, and once again struck him up the side of the head with punches. Rock stepped back, and it appeared he was going to go for a clothesline, but Triple H managed to counter it, and send Rock over his head with a back body drop, to eliminate him, and get an incredible victory in his return match, by winning the 2002 Royal Rumble match. The crowd's reaction was absolutely deafening, and Triple H celebrated in the ring, pointing at the Wrestlemania X8 sign as the show closed.

Royal Rumble time. right off the bat, this is detailed. I'd complain, but Payback was pretty detailed too. I do wish you had some kind of marker to tell us who won the match. It would just look better, you know? I don't mind Billy and Chuck retaining, but I think they should drop the belts at Wrestlemania or so. I forget that Mighty Molly was still around at this point. Now I remember her getting hit with the door at Wrestlemania X-8. Trish Stratus retaining was for the best. Whoa, surprised to see Diamond Dallas Page win the Intercontinental Title. I always liked him so I think this is cool, but I wonder where this goes into WrestleMania. AH, DONT TELL ME WHAT NUMBERS PEOPLE GET! I LIKE SURPRISES! Big write up but expected result in the Undisputed Title match. I hope Chris Jericho doesn't play third wheel going into WrestleMania. You've booked him pretty well so far. Having Steve Austin enter the Rumble so early is surprising. I like that you went with the Undertaker going on a rampage after getting eliminated, like in real life, but with a twist. The attack on Austin sounded brutal and I get the sense Austin/Undertaker is happening at Mania. While I never really liked their matches, it's better than Austin/Hall that we got in real life. Triple H winning is fine, it made sense given his return. But again, don't make Jericho a third wheel in the angle leading up to the big show. Also, this needed more Mr. Perfect. Other than that, an enjoyable show and I look forward to what's next.

January 28, 2002 | Philips Arena, Atlanta, GA. Coming off of the tail end of the best Royal Rumble PPV in World Wrestling Federation history, JR and King welcome us to WWF Raw, where we're told that Triple H will be here and he will address winning the Royal Rumble, Chris Jericho is also here and will be addressing his retention of the WWF Undisputed Championship. Will the two face off? Who knows. Triple H's music hits, and the 2002 Royal Rumble winner makes his way down the ramp and gets into the ring. He begins to speak. "Last night, I returned from an 8 month absence from the WWF, during which I was recovering from knee surgery. Last night, I came into the match at number 27, and I ran through every other man in my way until I got what I wanted - the chance to win the WWF Undisputed Title in the main event of Wrestlemania. And Chris Jericho.. make no mis-" WWF Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho's theme hits, and he appears at the top of the stage. "Wait just a second, Cerebral Ass-assin. Do these people care about your Cinderella story? Probably, because let's face it, they're sheep. But I do not care. All I see in that ring is a shell of a man, who was eaten away at by the fact that someone else was in the spotlight, so much so that he had to drag his broken ass out of bed, enter the Royal Rumble, and try and take MY World Wrestling Federation championship from me. If you think you're gonna beat me at Wrestlemania, you can think again, junior. I've beaten The Rock. I've beaten Steve Austin. I've beaten Kurt Angle. I've beaten Edge. I've beaten The Undertaker. I've beaten Rob Van Dam, hell, I've even beaten you." "You know.. You can brag about who you've beaten in the past, and what you've accomplished, but every thing you've done so far is nothing compared to what I've done. I could list my accomplishments, but I'd rather let my actions do the talking." Triple H rips his shirt off and calls for Chris Jericho to come down and fight him. "Haha! Wow, do you really think I'm that stupid? You can try and play your little cerebral warfare game, but, just like I said and proved last night - I am the true king of mind games." Jericho's theme hits and he turns around, only to be met by Raw General Manager, Ric Flair. "Jericho, since you say you're so smart, tonight in our main event, I'm going to give you the opportunity to prove it once again. In our main event tonight, it's going to be Chris Jericho vs Rob Van Dam in a rematch from the Royal Rumble for the WWF Undisputed Championship, with special guest referee.. Triple H!" Jericho yells at Flair in visible anger, as Triple H looks onward laughs. - Commercial Break - Val Venis vs MavenMaven started the match in control, grounding and pounding on the former Intercontinental Champion. Venis eventually mounted some offence, avoiding an attack from Maven and sending him shoulder first into the ring post. Val remained in control for a while, but Maven hit him right on the jaw with an impressive standing dropkick. Maven called for something, but the rookie mistake would cost him, as Venis planted him on his head with a DVD, climbed to the top rope, and came flying off of it with The Money Shot for the pin and the win. Winner: Val VenisTaz walks down the ramp with a purpose and gets into the ring. He grabs a microphone and begins to talk. "Christian.. Lance Storm.. Test. Last night, you cost me my dream by throwing me out of the Royal Rumble. I'm not gonna complain about being eliminated, because that's happened and I can't change that. But what I am gonna do is call you out. I don't care if it's one of you, or all of you, I'll gladly kick any of your asses." Taz dropped the mic and called for Test, Storm and Christian to come down the ramp and face him, but the trio came in from behind and struck Taz when he wasn't expecting it, but Kane's trademark pyro exploded and he ran down the ramp, causing "Test, Christian and Lance Storm to run away like a pack of scalded dogs." Kane stared them down as we cut away to a commercial break. - Commercial Break - The Hardy Boyz vs The APAThe APA dominated the match for the most part, toying with their smaller opponents. Bradshaw and Faarooq cut the ring in half and made sure that Matt Hardy couldn't get the tag to his brother, Jeff. It looked like the match was about to end when the big 275lb bruiser Bradshaw came in and almost took Matt Hardy's head off of his shoulders with a clothesline from hell. Bradshaw went for the cover, but the resilient Hardy kicked out at 2. Bradshaw seemingly became frustrated and tagged in Faarooq. Faarooq came in and tried something, but Matt evaded it and jumped across the ring to tag in his brother, who brawled with both APA members before the Twist Of Fate on Faarooq, and the Swanton Bomb to give The Hardyz the pin and the win. Winners: The HardyzBackstage, The Undertaker is walking along the hallway, when Ric Flair calls him into his office. Flair asks Undertaker to have a seat and talks to him. "Undertaker, last night, I saw what you did. Stone Cold Steve Austin eliminated you fair and square, but you attacked him outside of the match, and dropped him on the steel steps with a Tombstone Piledriver. So, as per the rules I set in place before the Royal Rumble, Undertaker, I have to suspend you indefinitely, without pay." The Undertaker gets up and begins yelling. He bangs his hands on Ric Flair's desk and calls him a son of a bitch. Flair tells Undertaker that if he puts his hands on him he will fire him permanently. Undertaker stares at Flair, walks out and slams the door. The camera follows Undertaker as he walks to the parking lot, gets on his bike, and drives away from the arena. - Commercial Break - DDP, the new Intercontinental Champion, is backstage with Kevin Kelly. Kelly asks him his thoughts on becoming the new Intercontinental Champion, but before Page has a chance to speak, William Regal walks in and begins to talk himself. "Now, listen here, sunshine. You may have beaten me last night, but don't think that means that I'm done with you. If you're half the champion I was, you'll grant me my rematch at No Way Out." "Regal, if you want your rematch, you've got it, but I really feel like you're too on edge! You need to lighten up, man. Take that negativity and turn it into positivity! You'll get your rematch, but remember - I've beaten you twice now!" "You might have beaten me twice, but the third times the charm. I'll get rid of you once and for all and reclaim what's rightfully mine. And that's a good thing." Regal leaves. Booker T vs Hardcore HollyBooker T, who last over an hour and 20 minutes in the Royal Rumble but was caught off guard and eliminated by Edge, looked to bounce back at the expense of Hardcore Holly, but as he would find out, that is no easy task. Holly put up a hell of a fight against Booker, showing the aggression and intensity he's become famed for be throwing Book around like a rag doll, and sending him shoulder first into the steel steps. Booker himself is no pushover, however, and he gave Holly as good as he got. As Hardcore was about to go for an Alabama Slam, Booker wriggled his way out of it, kicked Holly in the gut, and put him away with a scissors kick. Winner: Booker T- Commercial Break - The Rock's theme song hits and he gets into the ring, microphone in hand. "Last night at the Royal Rumble, The Rock came out at entry number 29. The Rock physically decimated every other man in that match, until it came down to just The Rock and Triple H. The Rock laid the Smackdown all over Triple H's candy ass, and he thought he had Triple H beat- but Triple H flipped The Rock over the top rope, eliminating The Rock, and winning the Royal Rumble match. But The Rock is ok with that. In fact, The Rock is happy for Triple H, but make no mistake about it, Triple H - The Rock is coming for your long-haired candy ass once again at No Way Out. Triple H, The Rock is challenging you to a match at No Way Out, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, February 17th. Now, Triple H, The Rock understands that you're busy tonight and you've gotta prepare for being the referee in tonight's main event. So, since The Rock is a fair man, The Rock is giving you until Friday Night to make your decision." The Rock leaves. Jazz vs Mighty MollyMolly, who came up short against WWF Women's Champion Trish Stratus, tried to regain some momentum by defeating Jazz, but Jazz wasn't going to let that happen. The physically imposing Amazon from Louisiana used her impressive strength to her advantage, throwing Molly around and slamming her numerous times. The tenacious Molly kept fighting throughout the whole match, however, and displayed her superpowers by flying from the top rope to the outside. Molly bought Jazz back in and picked her up, but Jazz planted her without a sitout tree trunk slam, but only got a two count. Showing off for a while would go on to cost Jazz, as when she turned around, Molly bodyslammed her, climbed to the top, and once again flew with the Molly-Go-Round which would give her the win. Winner: Mighty MollyChris Jericho is shown walking backstage, as is Rob Van Dam, as well as Triple H, decked out in referee gear. - Commercial Break - Chris Jericho vs Rob Van Dam - WWF Undisputed Championship (Rematch)Jericho, the narcissistic champion, came down to the ring to boos, extremely different from the ear-ringing cheers given to Triple H and Rob Van Dam from the fans. Rob Van Dam first took control, grappling with Jericho for a while and then rocking him with a roundhouse to the side of the head. Jericho then retreated to the outside, and appeared to be running away up the ramp, but Van Dam chased him down, grabbed him by the ponytail, and bought him down to the ring. Jericho went for a clothesline, but Van Dam ducked it, and once again hit Jericho in the head with a kick. Van Dam then set Jericho in position on the security wall, broke the count, climbed on the apron, and came flying off with his twisting leg drop, to roaring cheers from fans. Van Dam then bounced Jericho's head off of the ring steps, and sent him back into the ring. As Jericho tried to crawl away, Van Dam grabbed him by the head and bought him down on it with a stiff DDT. With Jericho down, Van Dam saw the opportunity and climbed to the top rope, signalling for the 5 Star Frog Splash, but for apparently no reason, Stephanie McMahon of all people came down the ramp, and inexplicably pushed Van Dam off of the top rope. She got into the ring and faced her ex-husband, Triple H, but to the surprise of everybody, she kicked him right inbetween the legs. Stephanie and Jericho left the ring and walked up the ramp, with Jericho still champion via disqualification. Van Dam and Triple H looked on in pure shock as McMahon and Jericho kissed on the ramp.

Eeeny meany miney moe, I'm gonna reply to the more important show. Whodaeff am I? Docta Seuss? Royal Rumble, mate. We start off with a tag team match for the titles, which I dig. Glad that Billy and Chuck kept the belts over The Dudley Boyz and it was good for D-Von and Bubba to exact their revenge afterward with a classic 3D through the table on Rico. Next up, the Women's Championship is on the line and Trish Stratus retains, obviously. Being the top diva, she needs to have the Women's Championship heading in to WrestleMania, in my opinion. Surprised to see IT'S ME! IT'S ME! IT'S D! D! P! win the Intercontinental Championship from William Regal, but I can dig it. The guy deserves something for jumping ship, right? Even though he was a stubborn bastard. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Why are we finding out what these guys numbers are? THAT AIN'T HOW IT GO! First real flaw here. RVD vs Chris Jericho for the Undisputed WWF Championship. Man, that sounds weird. But, with RVD being as over as was at this time frame I think it is a good match to have. Of course Jericho was to retain, RVD has always been a guy just below top tier main event status to me. Undertaker going crayz in the Rumble was the really biggest part aside from the finish. Austin vs Taker would be pretty damn interesting in to WrestleMania... ultimately, Triple H wins the Royal Rumble in what was an expected result off his return. Aside from the layout needing some tweaking and more clarification on results, this was pretty good.

Definitely need less of the 'THICKWALLOFTEXT' that you construct your results as. I really enjoyed the RR show, but found myself being able to follow RAW more closely because you spaced out each match/segment. Also, maybe give us a decided winner in a bracket at the end of each match write-up. Some kind of score/rating for the match as well?
You could use colors or just simple white space to break up the straight biblical amount of detail (which is great and well written, btw) put into every match. Even in the rumble, I felt like each little blurb on every individual entrant felt smushed still.
I like the direction you're taking, keeping things close to reality with HHH winning, but it's really gonna have to be someone unexpected he faces at WM, or a 3-way dance, because I've seen Jericho/HHH too many times to invest in it as the selling point (but your writing could convince me otherwise).
Your writing for the tag match was great as well. God, I hated B&C during this time period-- so it was great seeing the Dudleyz give Rico some wood. Regal vs. DDP was interesting, but I feel like your 'main event' is so crowded, you could drop a more prestigious guy around to hover in the IC title scene to give it more shine. DDP was really falling off at this point, and while Regal stayed hot, it would be a labor for me to watch that match in real life. Molly vs. Trish was great women's wrestling.
Please push the Hardyz. Please push Hurricane. Love your little comedic moment with him posing in front of HHH when he got in the rumble. I WANT MORE!

February 1st, 2002, | Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado Smackdown opens up with The Rock coming down to the ring, microphone in hand. He begins to speak. "Triple H.. The Rock is going to make this short and sweet. The Rock asked you a simple question on Monday. The Rock challenged you to a match at No Way Out, February 17th, in Milwaukee. Now, The Rock wants to know one thing. Do you accept?" Triple H's theme music hits, and he comes down to the ring. "Rock, after thinking about your offer for the past 4 days, I have indeed come to a decision.. You're god damn right I'll face you at No Way Out." The Rock and Triple H stare each other down in the middle of the ring, and The Rock begins to speak again. "Triple H... The Rock knows full well, that you are headed to the main event of Wrestlemania. And, The Rock also knows full well that you beat him in the Royal Rumble. Triple H.. The Rock says, let's make this match a little more interesting. How about this.. Triple H. The Rock. The winner goes on to headline Wrestlemania X8." "Well.. You know Rock, I'm never one to back down from challenge.. and tonight is no different. You're on. I will fight you for the right to be in the main event of Wrestlemania. But Rock.. just remember this one thing. Right now, not just in the WWF, not just in Colorado, not just in the United States of America, but right now.. there is no man on god's green earth who wants to kick Chris Jericho's ass in the main event of Wrestlemania and win the Undisputed Championship more than me. The Game, Triple H." Triple H leaves. - Commercial Break - Val Venis vs Maven vs Tajiri - #1 Contender's Match for the WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipMaven took control for most of the match, getting rid of Tajiri at the beginning and concentrating on Venis. Venis showed tenacity however when he fought back against the upstart, taking him down with a number of clotheslines and then throwing him across the ring with a fall-away slam. Tajiri then got back in the ring and took down Venis with a springboard elbow. "The Japanese Buzzsaw" went after Maven, but Venis grabbed him, slammed him down, climbed to the top rope, and put Tajiri away with The Money Shot. Winner: Val Venis (12:13)Vince McMahon is shown getting out of his car and walking into the arena. Lance Storm, Christian, and Test appear at the top of the stage. They walk down the ramp, get in the ring, and Lance Storm grabs a microphone. "As much as it pains me to have to talk in front of you misfits here in Colorado, I have something that I wanna get off of my chest. Taz, Kane, why even bother? You're outnumbered. In case you two idiots never studied mathematics, which wouldn't surprise me at all, there are 3 of us, and 2 of you. Not only are there more of us, but look at us, and then look at yourself. You have Christian - A multi-time World Tag Team champion, and former Light Heavyweight champion. You have me - a submission specialist, a Champion all around the world, who has honed his skills in England, Japan, Mexico, and the greatest country in the world, Canada. Then you have Test - a 7ft tall, 275lb stud who's accomplishments speak for themselves." Christian grabs the mic. "..And then you have you. Taz - a diminutive little dwarf of a man, who's only claim to fame is being a former champion in ECW, but let's face it, that place was a joke. You're what, 4'11? And finally, Kane. A poor, misunderstood freak, who'd probably look like a mentally defective version of Shrek if you took his mask off. But hey, you still have your girlfriend Katie, right?" By this point, it was apparent that Kane and Taz had heard enough, as they came sprinting down the ramp to fight Storm, Test and Christian. Storm and Christian got out of the ring, but Test showed no fear and face them. Taz and Kane went for Test, but Test moved and Taz and Kane missed. As they turned around, Christian came in from behind and struck both men with chairshots to the back. Test and Storm then joined in and beat down on both men, stomping on them and kicking them. Christian rolled outside, grabbed a Canadian flag, and placed it upon the lifeless bodies of Taz and Kane. Storm grabbed the microphone and proclaimed.. "We are The Un-Americans." Storm, Christian, and Test leave. - Commercial Break -Chavo Guerrero vs Billy KidmanSolid Cruiserweight action. The returning Chavo showed basically no ring-rust, pulling off an impressive array of athletic moves. Kidman also dazzled fans, utilising springboard attacks. Guerrero went for the Gory Special, however Kidman reversed it into a pinning predicament, but Guerrero kicked out at 2. Guerrero got up on his knees and turned around, but Kidman rocked him with a Shining Wizard. Billy climbed to the top and tried to put Chavo away with the Shooting Star Press, but Chavo moved, picked Kidman up, and put him away with the Gory Bomb. Winner: Chavo Guerrero (8:16)A promo for WWF No Way Out airs. Vince McMahon is backstage, when his office door is opened by an angry Taz and Kane. Taz starts to talk. "Did you see what happened out there? Once again, we got attacked from behind by those damn Canadians. We want them at No Way Out." "You want Test, Lance Storm and Christian at No Way Out?" "Yeah." "You can't have Christian, Storm and Test at No Way Out, now get the hell out of my office." Taz attempts to argue with Vince, but he's interrupted. "If you want to keep your job, I suggest you take my advice and get the hell out of my office. Taz and Kane leave, with Kane slamming the door. - Commercial Break - Booker T vs Steven RichardsBooker, still angry at Edge for causing him to enter at #1 in the Royal Rumble match, looked to take out some of that aggression on Steven Richards. Stevie however realised that when Booker gets angry, Booker gets sloppy, and he used Booker's frustration to his advantage by dodging attacks and catching Booker when he would miss shots. Stevie went for the Stevie Kick near the end, but Booker, who was now through playing around, moved and instead caught Stevie with the Scissors Kick to get the win. Winner: Booker T (7:42)A graphic is shown, and we are informed that it will be tonight's main event. Jazz's Open Challenge - #1 Contender's Match for the WWF Women's ChampionshipAfter Jazz came out and announced she would become the #1 Contender to Trish Stratus' WWF Women's Championship if she won tonight, she boldly claimed that she would face any woman who accepted her challenge. Little did she expect Lita (who had taken a short hiatus for personal reasons) to come out and accept her challenge. Lita went right after Jazz, taking the Amazon off of her feet with a dropkick. As the match progressed, Jazz took control, and look to finish things with a Full-Nelson Slam, but Lita fought her way free, took Jazz down with a Hurricanrana, and pinned her after a Litasault. Winner: Lita (9:21)- Commercial Break - Main Event - WWF Tag Team Champions Billy & Chuck (w/ Rico Constantino) vs Triple H & The Rock (Non Title Match)Rock and Triple H gained the advantage at first, but Billy & Chuck showed that they are the World Tag Team Champions for a reason, cutting the ring in half, and separating Triple H from The Rock. Billy hit the Fameasser on his former D-Generation X stablemate, but only got two. Billy started to get frustrated and tagged in Chuck, but as soon as Chuck got into the ring, he was met by Triple H, who knocked him dizzy with a facebuster. "The Game" then tagged in The Rock, who cleant house. Billy and Chuck put up a decent fight, but Billy eventually fell victim to the Rock Bottom, giving Rocky and Triple H the victory. Winners: Triple H & The Rock (13:56)As Triple H and The Rock celebrated in the ring, the festivities were cut short by the WWF Undisputed Champion, Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon, who appeared at the top of the ramp. Jericho began to speak, however, before he could, Billy and Chuck attacked Triple H and The Rock from behind, with Chuck levelling The Rock with a Pump-Handle Slam, and Billy once again planting Triple H into the mat. Billy and Chuck grabbed their titles and left, and Jericho once again began to talk. "Now, before I was so rudely interrupted, I was about to make an announcement. For the better part of this evening, I've been in the back having a lengthy conversation with my good friend, and my business associate Stephanie's father, Vincent Kennedy McMahon. And, after having a long discussion with Mr McMahon, we have agreed that as of right now, the special referee for your match at No Way Out is none another than.. me!" Jericho's music hit and him and McMahon left, as Triple H and The Rock were still laid out in the ring. Smackdown ended. © 2002, World Wrestling Federation.

February 4th, 2002 | Gund Arena, Cleveland, OH The familiar pyro and music went off, and Raw got underway immediately, with Ric Flair coming down the ramp and starting to speak. "Now.. as many of you know, last Friday night on Smackdown, Chris Jericho was named the special guest referee for the match between The Rock and Chris Jericho at No Way Out. So, at this time, I would like Triple H and The Rock to come down to the ring." Triple H first came down, followed by The Rock. Flair began to speak once again. "I understand that you two are probably not happy about the decision that Mr McMahon made on Smackdown, and to be honest, neither am I." A camera shows Vince McMahon watching the event from his Skybox. "But I can promise you one thing. If Chris Jericho causes ANY funny business, tries to cheat, shows bias, or costs either of you the match, I will come down to that ring and strip Chris Jericho of the World Wrestling Federation Undisputed Championship, and the main event of Wrestlemania will be The Rock vs Triple H for the vacant title. And also, you will both have a chance to get your hands on Jericho tonig-" Flair seemed like he was about to say something else, but he was interrupted by the sound of Jericho's theme. Jericho stood on the entrance stage, microphone in hand. "Woah, woah, woah, there, old-timer. Not only will I not be competing in that ring tonight, but I won't even be setting foot in it. You see, tonight, Vince McMahon has granted me the night off, and as a result, I'm going to spend it watching Raw up there from the Skybox with my friends and business associates, Mr McMahon and his daughter Stephanie." "First of all, shut up when I'm talking. Second of all, I couldn't give a rats ass what Vince McMahon said you can and can't do, because this is not Vince McMahon's show. This is MY show. I run this place, I'm your boss here. And I say you will be competing in the main event tonight, and if you decide that you're not gonna show up, I'll strip you of the WWF Undisputed Championship tonight." "WHAT?! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" "I can do whatever I damn well please, brother, woo! Now, I suggest you go and get ready, because tonight, you will be teaming up with Test, Lance Storm, and Christian to take on the team of Kane, Taz, Triple H, and The Rock, in a huge 8 man tag team main event." Jericho is irate on the stage, while Triple H and The Rock are laughing in the ring. - Commercial Break - Rob Van Dam vs Val Venis - After coming within an eyelash of beating Chris Jericho for the WWF Title not once but twice, RVD looked to use that momentum to defeat Val Venis, however, defeating Val Venis is no easy feat, as Van Dam would find out. After RVD gained the advantage earlier on, Venis kept him grounded and worked on Van Dam's legs. Val eventually thought he'd worn him down sufficiently enough and climbed to the top rope, signalling for The Money Shot, but Van Dam dropkicked the lower legs of Venis, sending him flying off of the top rope and allowing Van Dam to hit the 5 Star Frog Splash for the pin and the win. Winner: Rob Van Dam (7:13)Up by the Skyboxes, a disgruntled Chris Jericho, now in his ring gear, is shown walking towards Vince McMahon's private Skybox, where he's greeted by both Vince and Stephanie. Vince asks him to have a seat, and Jericho does so, as he starts to speak. "Did you see what happened out there?" "Yes, I did, and quite frankly, it pissed me off. Ric Flair has no right to over-rule one of my decisions. I'm the Chairman of the World Wrestling Federation, which means I have more power than he does." "Exactly! You can't have me, the Undisputed Champion, the man who represents your company putting his body at risk by getting in the ring with a dangerous, hideous freak of nature like Kane just over a month before Wrestlemania. Ric Flair has been doing an atrocious job as General Manager." "You know what, Chris? You're absolutely right. In fact, let me get the Board Of Directors on the phone, I'm gonna organise a little something for this Friday's Smackdown." The phone rings, and Vince yells at the cameraman to get out. - Commercial Break - Booker T vs MavenBooker T, who quite obviously didn't take Maven nearly as seriously as he should have, and got surprised when Maven put up a good fight and sent the former 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x WCW Champion reeling with an amazing standing dropkick. Booker however, being the wily veteran, managed to poke Maven in the eye whilst the referee's back was turned. It looked like Booker was going to go for the Scissors Kick, but as he went for it, Maven moved, and this caused Booker to boot referee Jack Doan right in the face. With the referee out, Booker tried to cheat, but Edge came running down the ramp and speared Booker in half, allowing Maven to capitalise and get the pinfall victory. Winner: Maven (8:45)After the match, a visibly angry Booker stared down Edge, who pointed and laughed at him from the entrance ramp. Ric Flair is in his office, when his phone rings. He answers it and leaves down the hallway. William Regal vs Stevie RichardsIn what can only be described as utter domination on the part of Regal, Richards didn't even have a chance to get out of the box. Regal looked to make himself come across as dominant headed into his match with Diamond Dallas Page at No Way Out, and he did just that. Throwing Richards around like a ragdoll, Regal eventually ended things with the Regal stretch, forcing Stevie to tap out. Winner: William Regal (3:56)- Commercial Break - A graphic is shown as we return from our commercial break. It tells us that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be returning for the first time since he was taken out during the Royal Rumble by the Undertaker next week on Raw. The APA vs The Dudley Boyz - #1 Contender's Match for the WWF Tag Team ChampionshipsThe Dudleyz, who were narrowly defeated by Billy and Chuck at the Royal Rumble, looked to prove that they were worthy of another shot at No Way Out, and the APA aimed to get their first title opportunity of 2002. Both powerhouse teams brutalised each other from the opening bell to the end, with Bradshaw even taking out both D-Von and Bubba with a clothesline from hell. Towards the end of a very exciting match, Billy and Chuck, the WWF Tag Team Champions, along with Rico, would come down the ramp and interrupt the match, but they were interrupted by Jeff and Matt Hardy who pulled them off of the apron. The action between The Dudleyz and The APA spilled to the outside, and all 4 teams began brawling, giving referee Nick Patrick no choice but to call the match a no-contest. After every team brawled for a while, security came down and seperated the teams. Ric Flair also came down, and made the announcement that all 4 teams would compete for the Tag Team Championship's in a Tag Team Turmoil match at No Way Out. Flair left as we faded to a commercial break. - Commercial Break - As we returned, JR and The King notified us that the Tag Team Turmoil match was official. The camera switched to Chris Jericho, who was told that it was time for his match up in the skybox. Vince shook his hand and wished him good luck, as Stephanie did the same. Main Event - 8 Man Tag Team Match - Taz, Kane, Triple H, and The Rock vs Lance Storm, Christian, Test, and Chris Jericho.Jericho tried his best to stay away from the action, making sure that he wasn't tagged in by any of his partners, however, luckily for him, his team had the advantage for the best part of the match. Jericho tagged himself in once after Test levelled Triple H with a powerslam, only to stomp away at Triple H for a few seconds and tag Christian back in. The action was mainly mat based for the central part of it, up until only Chris Jericho, Triple H, and The Rock were left standing. Rock and Triple H teamed up on Jericho, with both men hitting their finishing moves on the champion. Triple H tagged in Taz and Taz tried for something, but Test tagged himself in and absolutely took Taz's head off with a big boot. Lance Storm and Christian knocked Triple H and The Rock off of the apron, allowing Test to pin Taz and get the win for his team. Winners: Test, Christian, Lance Storm, and Christian (13:45)The winning team celebrated on the stage, as their opponents were spread around the ringside area, all laid out. Raw ended. © 2002, World Wrestling Federation.

Jericho is a good champion. Regal is one of my favorites so I'm happy to see him get some gold. Billy and Chuck were a solid tag team, and it seems you're letting them have a long reign. 5 months or so? That's pretty big for WWE/F standards.
8 man tag main event? Teddy Long would have a heart attack, playa! Pretty typical opening segment for a Monday Night Raw. I can't see Jericho holding onto his title long when guys like Triple H and The Rock are after it. (Especially when HHH is coming off of a Royal Rumble win) Rob Van Dam winning is good, but Booker T losing makes me sad. He's one of my favorites. Edge v Booker T would be a crazy feud. Both incredibly talented in the ring and Edge's heel work is A+. Interested in seeing how well you can book this because if you do it well the payoff could be incredible. Glad you appreciate Regal as much as I do. He's truly a great worker. SCSA coming back should boost some ratings a bit. Tag Team Turmoil? Okay, this has to be the end of Billy and Chuck's reign. There's no way they can out last the APA, the Hardys, and the Dudleys. Only way they can survive is if the other three teams beat each other up so bad. Jericho being cowardly is good. I would be too if I were in his position. This is the only show of your diary I've really read in full so I cannot say too much on storylines and what not, but I can say that read pretty much like a Raw would. Long opening promo. A few matches with cheap finishes that had the main event storyline hyped in between. One thing I do have to say is that it felt a bit short. Maybe I'm getting used to three hour long Raws. You do have one of the most star studded rosters to work with here. Early 2000s is a great time in the WWE/F. I'll definitely be reading Smackdown.

You've got some intriguing stuff going on here, and your build up certianly has to be better than the real-life build to Wrestlemania. I'm interested to see where you go from here.

February 8th, 2002 | Fenway Park, Boston, MA. Smackdown opened immediately with Vince and Stephanie McMahon coming down to the ring, with Vince holding a microphone. "As many of you may have saw on Monday night, I have organised a little something for my co-worker, and the General Manager of Raw. So, at this time, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Ric Flair." Ric Flair's theme started playing and he walked down to the ring. "Now, Mr Flair.. certain decisions that you've made in recent weeks have lead to not only myself, but the Board Of Directors having to question if you're worthy of being Raw General Manager, and as a result of that, next Monday night on Raw, you will be having a full job performance evaluation. The men who will evaluate you are Mr John Laurinaitis and Jim Cornette, senior members of the WWF Board Of Directors. Flair stands and shakes his head, and then grabs a microphone. "Hold on a second, Vince. I'm doing a bad job? With all due respect, you are the man that's showing favouritism to Chris Jerich-" "Now you just wait a minute, Flair. I wouldn't run your mouth like you have for the past 30 years tonight. I suggest you prepare for your evaluation and do whatever it is you do over there on that hellhole of a brand, if you want to keep your job." Flair drops his mic, shakes his head, and leaves. "Now that that's out of the way, I have one more thing to tell you, and that is what tonight's main event is going to be. As a man who believes in giving the younger, newer guys on the roster a chance, tonight, in our main event, it's going to be the 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x, 5x, WCW Champion, Booker T, taking on Edge." Michael Cole points out that this may well be the first time the fans have cheered for Vince McMahon in his life. McMahon leaves. Maven vs Chavo GuerreroIn an exciting contest, Maven looked to prove that despite the fact he was only a rookie, he was just as good as somewhat of a veteran, Chavo Guerrero. Guerrero, however, was having none of it, and took the young upstart for a pushover, which, as he would go on to find out, Maven is not. After Guerrero had control for the better part of the match, the tenacious Maven started to mount some offence, taking Guerrero down with multiple clotheslines and then a springboard dropkick. Chavo eventually gained control again, but Maven was able to roll him up with the small package for the win. Winner: Maven (8:32)- Commercial Break -Kane vs TestThe two big men faced off, just after we found out that Test and Lance Storm would be teaming up to take on Taz and Kane at No Way Out. To the surprise of some, Test retained control for the better part of the match, focusing his offend on the legs of Kane to keep him grounded. Test however lost control after a mistake on his part, where he swung wildly with a punch, causing Kane to capitalise and rock Test with a big boot. Kane whipped Test into the ropes and took him down with a clothesline, and then signalled for the chokeslam, however, Lance Storm and Christian would run down to the ring and interfere, causing the match to end on a disqualification. No Contest: (6:24)Kane took exception to Christian and Storm, grabbing both men by the throat, but Test caught him with a shot to the back, and then all three men laid into Kane, until Taz came down, chair in hand, to clean house. The Un-Americans were forced to flee the ring at the hands of Taz and Kane once again, as both men stood tall in the middle of the ring. Backstage, Vince McMahon is sat in his office, when Chris Jericho walks in. "Ah, Chris! Have a seat." "Thank you." "Now, after Ric Flair went against my word on Monday night, he's going to be undergoing a job performance review on Monday, and after looking over tonight's card, I've decided that you indeed have the night off." "Finally! Thanks, Mr-" "Woah, woah, please, call me Vince." "Thanks, Vince." The camera fades to black. - Commercial Break -A graphic is shown advertising the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin to Raw next Monday. Vince McMahon comes out to the ring, and announces that there will be a tournament to crown the inaugural WWF Cruiserweight Champion, with the finalists meeting at Wrestlemania X8 to determine the first ever Cruiserweight Champion, and that the first match in that tournament is now. We're shown a graphic that reveals the participants. (Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Tajiri, The Hurricane, Justin Credible, Spike Dudley, Billy Kidman, and Chavo Guerrero.) The Hurricane vs TajiriThe Hurricane looked to get a win at Tajiri's expense, and Tajiri did the same, leading to a great back-and-forth contest. Tajiri hung The Hurricane up in the tarantula, but of course he was forced to break it. Tajiri then once again went on the offensive, hitting a springboard elbow and going for the Buzzsaw Kick, but The Hurricane was able to duck the move and hit the Hurrichokeslam for the victory and the right to advance to the next round in the Crusierweight Championship tournament. Winner: The Hurricane (7:53)Chris Jericho's theme begins to play and he gets into the ring, microphone in hand, and starts to talk. "Much to the dismay of Jerichoholics everywhere, I unfortunately have been granted the night off tonight." The crowd boos loudly. "I know, I know, it's sad. But, I mean, let's be honest, it's not like I didn't earn it. I beat Triple H. I beat Rob Van Dam. I beat Kane. I beat The Undertaker. I beat Kurt Angle. Hell, I beat Steve Austin and The Rock in the same damn night to win the Undisputed Championship and become the first ever Undisputed Champion. And I think, that after all everything I've been through these past few mon-" Jericho was interrupted by the sound of Triple H's theme, and HHH got into the ring. "You wanna talk about.. you, of all people, you, deserving a day off? You wanna talk about you being the best in the world at what you do? Give me a brea-" "Wait just a second, Hunter. I will not stand back and have you spoil my night off. I've earned this, and I'm damn well going to enj-" Triple H struck Jericho with a kick to the gut, hooked him up, and dropped him right on his face with a Pedigree to extremely loud cheers. Triple H posed on the top rope as his theme played and we cut to a commercial break. - Commercial Break -Lita vs Mighty MollyLita, who recently returned, took on Mighty Molly, who looked to bounce back from her loss to Trish Stratus at the Royal Rumble. Molly controlled Lita for the better part of the match, and wore her down with mainly submission based offence. Lita continued to fight, however, got out of an attempted armbar, and hit Lita right in the face with a dropkick. Lita picked her up, but this time, Molly fought back, and went for the Molly-Go-Round off the top rope, but Lita moved, allowing her to capitalise and perform the Litasault for the win. Winner: Lita (9:14)Edge and Booker T are shown in a split screen making their way to the entrance area for their main event match. Main Event - Edge vs Booker TWith huge animosity between these two, fans expected a great, emotional contest, and they were not disappointed. With tremendous back and forth action throughout, and even a spear straight into the steel steps, this match most certainly delivered. Towards the end, Booker T had the match in his favour, and looked to be setting up for the Scissors Kick, but when he went for it, Edge moved and went for a clothesline, but Booker ducked that and instead planted Edge with the Book-End and went for the cover, but he only got two. Booker seemed to be getting frustrated, and attempted to rip the top turnbuckle off, however the referee was able to stop him. Booker turned around, but he was almost ripped directly in half with a spear. Edge went for the pin, and he got the 3, to a huge ovation from the fans. Winner: Edge (14:53)Smackdown ended. © 2002, World Wrestling Federation.

Alright, I'm usually not a great fan of authority figured being in storylines as the focal point, but it looks like you have two. Althought, Flair and McMahon could have an absolute war on the mic. Jericho being booked as a cocky, yet cowardly champ is pretty awesome especially in this time period. Dude has right to be a coward with Booker T, Triple H, The Rock, Edge, and Kane running around.
Now to talk about formatting and what not. As others said, the Royal Rumble was a bit of an absolute wall of text, (hard to keep it concise with a match like that) but now Smackdown doesn't seem very long. I love the Cruiserweight (expecting Chavo, a Hardy, or Kidman to win) storyline and Lita, but I almost feel like you need more mid card storylines or just more segments/matches involving the running ones. Maybe an interview with Edge, hype from HHH, or a promo from Lita on Trish. Overall the show was solid. You're still in that awkward spot where you're transitioning from RR fallout to the next big show. Looking forward to reasing more heading into WM season.

Interesting way to start things off with Mr. McMahon and Ric Flair... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DA NAISHA BOHH! Jim Cornette and John Laurinaitis... OH GOD LAURINAITIS TEN YEARS EARLY! Interesting situation to come on Raw. Good main event set up for later on with Booker T taking on Edge. Maven beats Chavo Guerrero, fine. He won Tough Enough somehow so I'll take his victory. Next, we have The Un-Americans joining forces to take down Kane... frigin' Un-Americans. Weird to read that segment with Jericho and Vince, but I can see it happeinng. AH, MODENR DAY TYPE GRAPHICS FOR 2002. WEIRD. I like the idea of the Cruiserweight Championship getting shined at WrestleMania X8 but I wouldn't have announced it so early. Triple H dropping Jericho on his day off like a boss. Take that, Y-2-J! AYATOLLAH OF PEDIGREED LIKE A BITCH IS MORE LIKE IT. Lita beats Mighty Molly. Match might of gone on too long but obvious victory for the more over woman in Lita... finally, we get a good main event with Edge getting a huge win over the likes of Booker, although nothing seemed to be made out of it. I would've had something post-match... anyway, I think the layout could use some tweaking and make things cleaner to read, but, we'll see where we go from here with the product because that's really what matters.

February 11, 2002 | Nassau Coliseum, Raw opened up with the familiar sound of the breaking glass and raucous cheers, as Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared on WWF programming for the first time since the Royal Rumble, where he was Tombstoned onto steel steps. Austin grabbed a microphone. "You see, in the last 3 weeks, Ol' Stone Cold has had a lot of time to himself, and a lot of time to think. So when I sat down on my porch at the Broken Skull Ranch and I had me a nice cold beer, I started to think, and the only thing that I could think about.. ..was how badly I wanted to kick somebody's ass. So what I'm gonna do, is Ol' Stone Cold is gonna lay out an open challenge to any single one of the boys in the ba-" "WOOO!" could be heard blasting through the arena, as Raw GM Ric Flair's theme hit and he appeared on the stage. "Austin, I understand that you wanna kick somebody's ass, and I'm by no means going to stop you from doing that, but I have a little idea. You see, Austin, as of right now, I have no main event for this evening. So, what do yiu say, you wait a couple of hours, and in tonight's main event, we have "Stone Cold Steve Austin's open challenge?" "Well.. if you wanna see Stone Cold Steve Austin kick somebody's ass in the main event of Raw, give me a hell yeah!" "HELL YEAH!" "OH HELL YEAH!" Stone Cold's theme started to play and he left the ring. The APA vs The Dudley BoyzIn somewhat of a preview of No Way Out, The Dudley Boyz met with the APA. The match was largely controlled by Bradshaw and Faarooq, who kept D-Von on their side of the ring. D-Von eventually fought back and dived across the ring to tag Bubba, and Bubba came in like a house on fire, dropping Bradshaw with a Bubba Bomb and Faarooq with a clothesline. Bubba grabbed Faarooq and put him in position, setting up for the 3D, but as D-Von lifted him up, Bradshaw pushed Bubba out of the way, blocking the move. Bradshaw got up and dropped D-Von with a clothesline from hell, allowing him to get the pin and the win for the APA, giving them huge amounts of momentum headed into No Way Out. Winners: The APA (8:13)As the match ended, Billy and Chuck, alongside Rico Constantino, walked down to ringside and attempted to talk trash to the APA, but the Hardy Boyz came running down the ramp and faced off with Billy and Chuck. Chuck started to get in the face of Matt, which caused Jeff to get in the face of Billy, which caused the whole thing to erupt into a full on brawl, with not only The Hardy Boyz, but The Dudleyz and The APA attacking Billy and Chuck. All 3 teams pushed Billy, Chuck, and Rico away, and then stared them down. "Is this the end of Billy and Chuck's 5 month title reign?" remarked Jerry Lawler. "I don't know King, but it sure seems like all 6 of their opponents sure have a strong disdain for Billy and Chuck." replied JR. - Commercial Break - Chris Jericho's theme begins to play, as he walks down the ramp and gets in the ring. "I'm not here for fun and games tonight, no, I'm here to address something, or rather, someone. Triple H.. nobody embarrasses Chris Jericho on his day off, or ever. I'm the WWF Undisputed Champion, for gods sakes. I've beaten everybody, and I deserve to hold this strap. I represent this company, and when you disrespect me and embarrass me, you make the company look ba-" "IF YA SMELLLLL... WHAT THE ROCK... IS COOKIN'?!" blasts throughout the arena, as The Rock makes his way to the ring and grabs a microphone. "Chris Jericho.. you see, The Rock understands that you might have beaten everybody there is to beat, and The Rock also understands that you might have beaten both Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock in the same night to win that championship, but that doesn't change the facts. You are the single most pathetic excuse for a champion that The Rock has ever seen! And you see, Chris Jericho, The Rock, The People's Champion, will take great pleasure in taking that belt from you in the main event of Wrestlemania. The Rock might respect Triple H, but if there is one thing that means more than respect, it's winning that World Wrestling Federation Championship. And when The Rock pins Triple H at No Way Out, 1, 2, 3, and you count the pinfall, and you raise his hand in the air, The Rock will look you in the eye, and The Rock will see just one thing. A man scared out of his mind, because he knows that he's going to get his candy ass beaten all over Toronto at Wrestlemania by none other than the jabroni beatin', llallalaow!, pie eatin, take your foot off the break and put your foot on the gas, the man who's gonna whip Chris Jericho's ass, People's Champ, The Rock!" "Woah, woah, woah, Rock, okay, you can use all of your stupid catchphrases, and your stale one liners that would have been funny in 1998, but I got a newsflash for you, junior. It's 2002. You're standing across the ring from a man who has dominated the World Wrestling federation for 7 long months. Time and time again, I-" Triple H's theme song hits, and he makes his way to the ring. Listening in the back, I couldn't help but think that you're both forgetting about something.. Me. Rock, you may be the single most accomplished athlete in all of the World Wrestling Federation, but I'm on a whole different level. I practically snapped my leg in two last year, to the point where I was being told I would never wrestle again, but look at me no-" "Oh my god, yeah, you came back from injury, blah, blah, blah, save it. We've all heard it before, but the fact of the matter is, right now, I'm the best. Right now, I'm the World Wrestling Federation. Right no-" Triple H hits Jericho with a kick to the gut, drops him on his face with the Pedigree, and then leaves the ring. However, The Rock, never one to be upstaged, hit the People's Elbow on Jericho, and then shared a stare down with Triple H. - Commercial Break - A graphic is shown, and JR informs us that in a match just announced for WWF No Way Out, Edge will be taking on Booker T. Trish Stratus vs LitaAfter declaring that she wanted to be a "fighting champion, Stratus challenged Lita here on Raw, in preparation for her match against the physically imposing Jazz at No Way Out. Stratus maintained control for the better part of the match, until Lita fought back and spiked Stratus on her head with a tornado DDT. Lita went for the pin, but Trish kicked out at 2. Lita picked her up again, however, Stratus was able to push her away and hit her with the Chick Kick. Stratus fell back into the ropes, and just as she was about to go for the pin, Jazz came sprinting down the ramp, grabbed the champion by the hair, and planted her with a tree trunk slam. Winner: Trish Stratus (Via Disqualification (6:34)Jazz then kicked Lita out of the ring, grabbed the WWF Women's Championship, and stood dominant over her opponent this Sunday. Kevin Kelly is backstage with Taz and Kane. Kelly asks Taz for his thoughts on their match with The Un-Americans at No Way Out, and his singles match with Lance Storm later in the evening. Taz grabbed the mic from Kelly and began to talk. "You know, at the Royal Rumble, you guys made us mad. When you attacked us from behind, you made us angry, and when you took the easy way out and beat us in the main event last week, you pissed us off. Lance Storm, I beat your ass all around ECW more than once, and you can bet your ass I'll do it again. And come No Way Out, you three are in our sights. We hope you know, this means war." Taz and Kane leave. - Commercial Break - William Regal vs Val VenisThe challenger for the WWF Intercontinental Championship at No Way Out, William Regal, met Val Venis, but to the surprise of most, Regal dominated the 265lb "Big Valbowski" without cheating. Towards the end, Regal sent Val into the ropes, but Venis ran back at Regal and dropped him with a clothesline. Val picked him back up, but Regal, no stranger to dirty tactics, pushed Venis into the referee, knocking him into the corner, and allowing him to hit a low blow on Venis. Regal stood in the corner, reached into his trunks, pulled out some brass knuckles, but he took too long, as Val Venis was able to roll him up with a schoolboy for the 3 count. Winner: Val Venis (8:56)Regal sat in the ring looking incensed, as JR asked if this could possibly be a sign of things to come on Sunday. Backstage, Ric Flair is in his office, when Vince McMahon walks in. "Ric?" "Yeah?" "Well, myself and the board of directors will be looking over your performance review this week, and we will determine if you are fit to keep your job next Monday night on Raw." "Is that a fact? Vince, I couldn't care less what you think abo-" "Ah, ah, ah! I'd watch what you say. You wouldn't want to do anything that could affect the Board Of Directors' decision, would you?" Vince leaves, as Ric stares him down. - Commercial Break - A camera shows numerous superstars in the locker rooms, trying to determine who will answer Steve Austin's open challenge. Taz vs Lance Storm - The Un-American's and Kane banned from ringsideTwo men who have faced off before in Taz and Lance Storm met once again, in a fantastic mat-based contest. After the center portion of the match was dominated by Lance Storm, Taz wisely low-bridged the ropes when Storm was running at him, sending Lance over the top rope and to the floor. Taz climbed out of the ring, lifted Storm up by his hair, and sent him careening into the steel steps. Taz rolled Storm back into the ring and walked over to Lance's prone body, but just as it looked like he was going for something, Storm rolled him up with a victory roll and successfully got the pin. Winner: Lance Storm (9:12)As Storm rolled out of the ring and onto the ramp to celebrate, he was greeted with the explosion of Kane's pyro and theme song. As Storm sat on the ground looking like he'd seen a ghost, Kane walked over to Storm. Lance tried to run away, but Taz blocked him from jumping the barricades. "Where the hell are Test and Christian?" exclaimed Lawler, as Taz and Kane stood over Storm in the ring as he begged for mercy. Christian came running down the ramp, as JR said "Well, there's Christian, but still no sign of Test". Taz got out of the ring and met Christian, but Christian wanted no part of Taz, and backed away. On the titantron, a camera was shown in the locker room backstage, and there, laid out on the floor was Test. A look of shock appeared on Christian's face, as he realised both him and Storm were trapped. The camera picked up Taz saying "Go ahead. I dare you." Christian appeared to be too afraid to move towards Kane and Taz, and as a result, Storm was chokeslammed "straight to hell", as JR put it, by Kane. Christian looked on in horror, as Taz and Kane stood in the ring with their arms raised. - Commercial Break - Main Event - Stone Cold Steve Austin's Open ChallengeAustin first made his way to the ring, and had something to say before the match. "So in case you didn't hear me earlier tonight, I issued an open challenge to any single person in the back, who thinks they have the guts to step in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin. So I waited, and I waited, and I waited, and now, it looks like I've finally got an opponent. So whoever you are, get your ass out here, so I can stomp a mudhole in ya, and walk it dry." To the surprise of the crowd, none other than Kurt Angle answered the challenge, and the match got underway. Angle, the technician, showed great wrestling smarts by working over the ankle and lower legs of Austin to soften them up for the ankle lock. He did a good job of keeping Austin grounded for the better part of the match, wearing his legs down and keeping him on the mat. Angle got complacent after a while, giving Austin an opening and allowing him to jump on top of Angle with a Lou Thesz Press and rain down the punches. Austin went for a stunner, but Angle then came back with offence of his own, hitting Stone Cold with the Angle slam and then locking in the ankle lock from seemingly out of nowhere. Austin scratched and clawed and tried his hardest, but eventually he was forced to tap out to the dismay of the fans. Winner: Kurt Angle (12:56)In what some would consider an upset victory, Kurt Angle defeated Steve Austin to close Raw. © 2002, World Wrestling Federation.

First stop on my reply train. Is still still considered the Attitude Era? Basic opening promo but I think it should have been a bit more detailed. Steve Austin deciding to wait doesn't sound like him honestly. I like the Tag Team Title preview. I just hope the APA don't win the belts. They had kind of worn out their welcome by this point. The Number One Contender's match with the Champion as the referee isn't something I've seen often. The Rock segment was fine. Trish/Lita is always good and I think Booker/Edge will be a nice addition to No Way Out. I feel like we'll get Lita/Trish/Jazz at Mania. While I'm a fan of a Val Venis win, I don't think Champions should lose non-title matches heading into a PPV defense. A bit long for the Lance Storm match but I like a Storm push. Taz and Kane is an oddball pairing for sure but I dug the Un-Americans. Wow, Kurt Angle answering was big enough but making Austin tap is insane. It's either a major win towards a huge Angle push or a mistake to have Austin tap. I'll be reading to see what comes of it.

I'm concerned about your booking. Austin makes his return but he loses to Angle cleanly? Why is Regal losing to Val Venis cleanly when he should be built as a strong threat to DDP's title reign?

February 14th, 2002 | Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio Smackdown started with Stone Cold Steve Austin making his way to the ring with a microphone and talking. "Now, I don't know if you saw Raw on Monday, but if you did, then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Just in case you didn't, in the main event, I issued an open challenge to anybody in the back. I asked if anybody thought they could kick Stone Cold's ass. ..and that's exactly what Kurt Angle did. Kurt, ya beat me. You made me tap out, fair and square. Now, all I'm gonna ask of ya is just one thing. Come out here, and agree to face me again at No Way Out." Kurt Angle's theme began to play, and he got into the ring and asked for a microphone. "Austin, why the hell would I agree to face you again at No Way Out when I already made you tap out on Raw Monday? My answ-" "Woah, woah, hold on a second Kurt, you see this is exactly what the type of thing that you would do. You know how I know?" "Because you're a little chicken sh** son of a bitch." The crowd, stunned at Austin's words, collectively yells "OHHHHHH!". "HOLD ON A SECOND! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE AUSTIN?! YOU WANT ME TO ACCEPT?! YOU GOT IT!" "Who do I think I am? I think I'm a man that's gonna beat your Olympic punk-ass all around Wisconsin this Sunday, and that's the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so!" "STUNNER!" exclaimed Michael Cole, as Austin kicked Angle in the gut and hit him with a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin stood on the top rope doing his trademark pose before we cut to a commercial break. - Commercial Break - Billy Kidman vs Chavo GuerreroIn another first round match in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament, Billy Kidman went one on one with Chavo Guerrero, who had only returned a couple of weeks prior. Guerrero relied on mat wrestling to get him through the early stages, but Kidman eventually got himself free, sent Guerrero out of the ring, and came flying over the top with a Tope Con Hiro. Kidman then rolled him into the ring and went for the cover, but Hardy kicked out. Towards the end, Guerrero had regained the advantage and went for the Gory Special, but Billy managed to get out of it, and instead hit Guerrero with a bulldog and then a Shooting Star Press for the pinfall victory, allowing himself to advance to the next round. Winner: Billy Kidman (9:14)We are showed the updated Bracket, which shows us that both Billy Kidman and The Hurricane have both advanced to the next round. Michael Cole informs us that our main event for the evening is The Rock vs Kurt Angle. Vince McMahon is backstage in a hallway, and his cellphone can be heard ringing. He answers it, but all that can be picked up by the cameraman is "Hello?" as he walked away down the hallway. - Commercial Break - Hardcore Holly vs MavenHardcore Holly, who we hadn't seen since the Royal Rumble, went one on one with Maven and showed his experience edge throughout, constantly causing Maven to make rookie mistakes. Maven however would go on to prevail, as Holly went for a clothesline, but Maven was able to move, jump onto the top rope, fly off, and connect with the Halo DDT for the win. Winner: Maven (6:25)A promo for WWF No Way Out is aired. Mighty Molly vs LitaThe two other top contender's for the WWF Women's Championship, Mighty Molly and Lita, looked to both prove that they were deserving of the next opportunity by getting a victory over one another. Lita showed no fear when she came flying over the top rope with a suicide dive, sending both Molly and herself crashing into the security wall. As the match went further, Molly had the upper hand, and set Lita into position for the Molly-Go-Round, but Lita got out of the way and instead dropped Molly on her head, and then went to the top rope and executed the Litasault for the pinfall victory. Winner: Lita (7:36)The Rock is backstage getting ready for his match, when Triple H walks in and they begin to talk. "Hey." "Oh, hey, what's up?" "Alright, look, we may respect each other, hell, we could even consider each other friends, but I gotta tell you. This Sunday means more than anything to me. This Sunday will be the culmination of a years fighting and clawing to get back to the top. This Sunday will be the final hurdle in my road to Wrestlemania. And yeah, we might have fought beside each other these past few weeks, but this Sunday, I'm not taking any chances. Rock, I'm not holding back this Sunday." "The Rock wouldn't expect any less from you Triple H, but The Rock just wants you to remember one thing. Nothing.. AND THE ROCK MEANS.. nothing.. is going to stand in the way of The Rock finally getting his hands on the Undisputed Championship." The two stare each other down as the screen fades to black. - Commercial Break - The Un-American's walk down to the ring, and Lance Storm has a microphone. Michael Cole touches on the fact that Test has tape around his ribs, possibly caused by the attack from Kane and Taz on Monday. Storm begins to talk. "What happened to us on Monday, quite frankly, was wrong. Test was attacked for no reason, so much so that he now has to have his ribs taped due to the injuries he suffered. Those two barbarians Kane and Taz symbolise everything wrong with the world today. Hell, they're both just like you people here in Idaho, and all over this stinkhole of a country called America for that matter. They're typical, lazy, ugly, god-damn fat American freaks!" The crowd boos loudly, and Christian grabs the mic. "But you can all rest assured that that won't happen this Sunday at No Way Out. You see, Lance and Test are gonna take care of Taz and Kane, and they're gonna make sure that we never see them again. And just so those they don't try anything, I will be at ringside, not only for moral support, but to keep a watch out for any shenanigans they might try and pull." Christian stops talking, and Test grabs the microphone. "Now, if you'll all please stand, we are going to sing the Canadian national anthem. Join in if you know the words." "O' CANADA! OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND! TRUE PATRIOT LOVE IN ALL THY SONS COMMAND! THE TRUE NORTH STRONG A-" The heartbeat of Taz's theme begins to play, and him and Kane run straight down the ramp and clear the ring. The Un-Americans, as we're used to seeing lately, get straight out and scamper up the ramp. They all got away unscathed, but Storm dropped his Canadian flag in the ring. Taz picked it up and threw it down on the arena floor below, as him and Kane stared down their opponents on Sunday. A promo for WWF Wrestlemania X8 is shown. Chris Hero vs William RegalLocal competitor Chris Hero looked to prove that he was worthy of a contract in his Smackdown tryout match, but he picked the wrong night to come for it, as William Regal was in an even fouler mood than usual after being dealt a loss by Val Venis on Monday. Almost immediately after the bell rung, Regal went after Hero and began raining down the shots. As Hero was down, Regal pulled some brass knuckles out of his shorts, but the referee saw it and stopped him. However, as the referee was getting rid of the first pair, Regal pulled a second pair of knucks from his tights and knocked Hero out for the pinfall. Winner: William Regal (1:21)- Commercial Break - Main Event - The Rock vs Kurt AngleWith big challenges ahead of both men at No Way Out, The Rock and Kurt Angle faced off, with both Triple H and Chris Jericho on commentary. Angle looked strong throughout the center of the match, using his mat based technique to keep The Rock at bay, but as Angle would find out, it takes a lot to keep The Rock down, as Rocky came at the only Olympic gold medallist in professional wrestling history with strikes and a spinebuster. Rock got him into position, came off the ropes, and hit Angle with The People's Elbow. Angle got up and Rock went for The Rock bottom, but Kurt hit him with elbows to the side of the head and fought his way out of it. Angle went for the Angle Slam, but Rock landed on his feet and went for the Rock Bottom again, but once again, Angle fought his way out, and once again, Angle went for the Angle Slam, but this time he was able to connect and slam Rock right down on his back. Angle went for the cover, however, The Rock had his foot on the bottom rope, but Chris Jericho left his position at commentary and pushed Rock's foot off of the bottom rope, allowing Angle to secure a huge win over The Rock, be it marred by controversy or not. Winner: Kurt Angle (15:39)Triple H got up out of his commentary chair and went for Chris Jericho, but Jericho ran up the ramp and stood at the top of the stage, holding both of his title belts next to Kurt Angle and looking on at Triple H and The Rock. Jericho turned around, but as he did, Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared behind him, kicked him in the gut, and hit him with a Stone Cold Stunner. Angle went for a shot at Austin, but Stone Cold ducked it and hit Angle with a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin got into the ring, and Smackdown closed with Austin, Rock, and Triple H each sharing a "cold one" in the middle of the ring.

February 17th, 2002 | Bradley Center, Millwaukee, WI JR and The King welcomed us to WWF No Way Out, and ran down our card for the evening, as our first match got underway. William Regal vs Diamond Dallas Page - WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipRegal first made his way to the ring, to resounding boos from the Milwaukee crowd. Page then came to the ring, to a loud ovation from the fans. JR noted on the fact that it seems like losing to Page at the Royal Rumble has caused Regal to fall off of his game in recent weeks, but The King points out that his dominant performance on Smackdown two nights ago begs to differ. Regal gained the upper hand at first, going to work on the arm of Page, possibly to soften him up for the Regal Stretch. Page started to mount some offence, striking Regal in the face and putting him in a side headlock, but Regal transitioned into a hammerlock. Page tried to bring him over with a snapmare, but Regal used Page's leverage against him and pushed him shoulder first into the top turnbuckle. Regal stomped on the arm of DDP as Page rolled to the outside. Regal went straight back in the offensive, clubbing DDP in the back and bouncing his head off of the announce table. Regal then rolled Page back into the ring and got in himself. Regal once again bought the stomps to Page, and then waved to the crowd, to loud boos. Regal then attempted to lock in the arm-bar, but Page almost immediately got to the bottom rope, causing the hold to be broken, but despite that, Regal still wrenched on the arm of DDP for the full count of 5, until the referee pulled him off. Regal then continued to keep Page on the mat, still working on the arm, until Regal whipped Page into the ropes and went for a clothesline, but DDP ducked the shot, bounced off the ropes again, and came back at Regal with a clothesline of his own. Regal got up and ran after Page again, but once again, DDP was one step ahead and hit Regal with the Atomic Drop. Regal, now groggy, walked towards Page, allowing DDP to lift him up and drop him right on his back with a sitout powerbomb. DDP had the cover, but he only got two, as Regal was able to kick out. Page got to his feet and called for Regal to get up, presumably to go for the Diamond Cutter. Regal slowly got back to a vertical base, and Page whipped him into the ropes, but Regal was sent colliding straight into the referee, knocking him down in the process. With no referee, Page looked around confused, and gestured to the crowd for the Diamond Cutter. DDP turned around, but for seemingly no reason, Test of all people was in the ring, and he nearly kicked Page's head off with a big boot. Test pulled Regal over to Page to make the cover, and slowly, referee Charles Robinson counted to 3, allowing Regal to gain the pinfall victory and regain his Intercontinental Championship. Winner: William Regal (11:23)Regal and Test stood on the ramp, with a grounded Page looking on in dismay, realising that he's just lost the Intercontinental Championship. Test raised the arm of Regal in the air, as JR asked "What does this mean? Has William Regal just joined the Un-Americans?" Our camera cuts to the backstage area, where The Rock is with Jonathan Coachman. "Rock, tonight, in our main event, you're facing Triple H to determine the new #1 contender for the WWF Undisputed Championship. What are your thoughts headed into this ma-"The Rock raises his hand and puts it in Coachman's face, signalising that he wants him to stop talking. "You see, Coach, The Rock and Triple H both respect each other, The Rock and Triple H might like each other, hell, The Rock and Triple H may well consider each other friends, but, Coach, that doesn't change the fact. And the fact of the matter is, there is a hell of a lot on the line here tonight. The Rock knows how much is at stake. The Rock understands what's on the line here tonight, and I'm sure Triple H understands too, but there's one difference between The Rock and Tripl-"
"Well, Ro-"The Rock put his hand in Coachman's face once again. "Don't you ever.. AND THE ROCK MEANS.. ever.. interrupt The Rock again.
Now give The Rock the god damn microphone and get your monkey ass out of The Rock's shot you little whisker biscuit son of a bitch."Rock pushes Coachman out of the camera's view as the fans cheer. "Now, before The Rock was interrupted, The Rock was about to say that the one big difference between Triple H and The Rock is the fact that The Rock has been here night in and night out for the past year. The Rock has had no rest. The Rock has fought and clawed and scratched to get to this point and The Rock understands what Chris Jericho is capable of, but even though Chris Jericho is an incredible athlete.. Chris Jericho couldn't shine The Rock's boots! And tonight, after The Rock whoops Triple H's candy ass all over Wisconsin, The Rock will go on to Wrestlemania 18, where he will lay the Smack down on Chris Jericho's candy ass, IF YA SMELLLLALALALALALALALAOW! WHAT THE ROCK! IS! COOKIN!"The Rock drops the mic and leaves. We're shown a recap from Sunday Night Heat, where The APA, The Dudley Boyz, and The Hardy Boyz are all backstage arguing and pushing each other, when D-Von yells for them to stop and starts talking. "Guys! Guys! Stop!
We all might hate each other, but in spite of that, we all have one thing in common. We all hate Billy and Chuck more than we could ever hate each other. No matter how many bad things we've done to each other in the past, we need to focus on the common goal tonight.
Bradshaw, Faarooq. Are you sick of Billy and Chuck running roughshod over the tag team division, acting like they own the place?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah."
"Jeff, Matt. Are you sick of Billy and Chuck?"
"Hell yeah."
"Absolutely."
"Well, I know for sure me and Bubba are sick to our stomachs of 'em, so, what I say is, we all focus on one thing. Get rid of Billy and Chuck as soon as the match starts, that way, they can't retain the titles, and then? May the best team win. What do you say?"Everybody in the room agrees as the camera goes back to our arena. The Dudley Boyz (w/ Stacy Kiebler) vs The APA vs The Hardy Boyz vs Billy & Chuck (w/ Rico Constantino) - Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match for the World Tag Team ChampionshipsThe 3 challenging teams made their way to the ring, and waited for Billy and Chuck, but as Billy and Chuck walked down the ramp, all 6 of their opponents came after them and a mass brawl erupted, with everybody trying to get their hands on Billy and Chuck. Eventually, the referee managed to get some order, and the match began with Billy and Faarooq. Faarooq rained down the shots in the corner, and for a while, everybody tagged in frequently and beat down on Billy and Chuck. Chuck tagged in Matt Hardy, and to the relief of Billy and Chuck, they were able to rest for a while. Matt and D-Von Dudley exchanged shots for a while, until D-Von sent Matt over the top, causing the match to implode once again, with everybody brawling. Jeff Hardy was sent careening in to the barricade by Bradshaw, and Bubba Dudley had his head bounced off of the announce table by Chuck. Even Rico Constantino got caught up in the brawl, with Faarooq pushing him to the floor. The referee was eventually able to regain some control over the match with Matt and D-Von going after each other in the ring once again. After a short while, Matt tagged in Bradshaw, who immediately came in and hit D-Von with clubbing shots to the back, and whipped him spine first into the corner. As D-Von rebounded off of the corner, Bradshaw almost decapitated him with a brutal clothesline from hell. Bradshaw went for the pin, but it was broken up by Jeff Hardy. D-Von crawled away from the pin and tagged in Bubba Ray, and Bradshaw tagged in Faarooq. Faarooq came running in and went for a shot the face of Bubba, but Bubba wisely ducked it, and hooked Faarooq's arms for the Bubba Bomb. As Bubba Ray was getting back to his feet, Jeff Hardy blind tagged Faarooq and came flying off the top with a dropkick to Bubba. Jeff then grabbed him by the legs, and came crashing down with the trademark double boots to the gut. As Bubba Ray used the ropes to help get himself up, D-Von tagged himself in. Jeff tried to grab Bubba by the face, but Hardy was pushed away into the ropes, and when he bounced off, Bubba bought him up, and D-Von bought him down with the 3D! Matt Hardy almost immediately ran into the ring and broke up the pinfall, and even managed to clothesline Bubba Ray over the top rope. D-Von got up, but he was met with Faarooq, who planted him in the mat with a spinebuster. Faarooq then turned his attention to a weakened Jeff Hardy, however, it appeared that Hardy was playing possum, as he was able to kick Faarooq in the gut and hit him with the Twist Of Fate. Seeing that Faarooq, D-Von, and Bradshaw were all down, and Matt was brawling with Bubba, keeping him at bay, Jeff Hardy looked to seize the opportunity. He climbed to the top rope and called for the Swanton Bomb, but from seemingly out of nowhere, Rico Constantino pushed Hardy off of the top rope, distracting him, and allowing Billy to capitalise and hit the Fameasser to retain the Tag Team Championships. Winners: Billy & Chuck (14:36)Billy, Chuck, and Rico stood and looked on from the top of the ramp as the 3 opposing teams seemed disappointed that once again, Billy and Chuck had stolen a win from all of them. A promo for Wrestlemania X8 is shown. Edge vs Booker T - 2 Out Of 3 FallsBooker T came out to an unfavourable reaction from the fans, as usual. However, Edge came out to raucous cheers, and, as JR put it, "The Edgeheads were out and in full effect!". The match began with Booker going for a double leg, with Edge avoiding it, and Booker falling over, causing the crowd to laugh. Edge chuckled, and the two locked up. Booker transitioned into a headlock, but Edge turned around into a waistlock. Edge bought Booker down to the mat stomach-first, and moved around into a front chancery. Edge, still with the chancery locked in, bought Booker to his feet, but Book used his leg to trip Edge backwards and fall to the mat. Booker then went down, and locked Edge in a headlock. Booker wrenched on it, but Edge wrapped his legs around Booker's head and locked him in the leg scissors. Booker used his legs to kick out of the scissors, and made it back to his feet. The crowd applauded a tremendous show of wrestling, and both men then went into a Greco-Roman Knuckle-lock. Booker gained the upper hand, twisting Edge's hands, but Edge showed great strength and pushed Booker down, with Booker's back arched over Edge's knee. Booker however was able to pull himself back up, and took a cheap shot by kicking Edge in the gut. With Edge winded, Booker seized the opportunity, and bought Edge down on his spine with a back suplex. Book went for the pinfall, but Edge kicked out. After he made it back to a vertical base, Edge moved towards Booker, but Book grabbed him by the arm, turned it around, and wrenched on it with the standing armbar. Edge was able to free his arm from Booker's grip, but Booker once again kicked Edge in the gut. This time however, Booker performed his signature kick to the head and went for the cover, but Edge once again powered out at two. Booker kept Edge on the mat for a while, transitioning between holds. After a while, Booker bought Edge back to his feet, but Edge struck Booker in the face, and went for a clothesline, but Booker was able to pull off a great counter, by ducking the clothesline attempt and instead hitting Edge with the Book-End! Booker immediately hooked the leg, and was able to get the 3 count and the first fall. First Fall: Booker T (8:16)"So far, this match has been pretty much all Booker T.", noted The King. Booker began to show off, and even pulled off a spin-a-roonie in the middle of the ring. "Wasting your time like this isn't wise when you're in there with somebody like Edge, who is ever the opportunist.", exclaimed JR. After Booker finished celebrating, he walked over to Edge, but he wasted too much time, as Edge was able to roll him up in the small package for the pinfall! First Fall: Edge (9:06)Seemingly infuriated that things were even again, Booker appeared to lose his cool, and began viciously stomping away on Booker in the corner. Booker lifted Edge back up to a vertical base, and rocked him with a stiff uppercut. Booker then pulled Edge out of the corner, maintained his grip, and hit him with a stiff clothesline. Booker went for the cover, but Edge just barely kicked out at 2. Booker got up on his knees, put his hands on his head, and pounded the mat. He grabbed Edge and went for another Book-End, but this time, Edge had the wherewithal to elbow Booker in the side of the head, and bought him down on his face with the Edge-U-Cution! Both men lied down motionless on the mat, as referee Nick Patrick began the 10 count. Patrick got all the way to 9, as both men were able to get to their feet just before he reached 10. Booker and Edge met each other in the center of the ring, and began exchanging blows. The crowd could be heard exclaiming "YAY!" at every Edge shot, and "BOO!" at every Booker T shot. After a short exchange, Edge gained the advantage, until for a 3rd time, Booker caught him in the gut with a kick. This time, however, Booker backed off into the ropes, and came down on Edge's head and neck with the Scissors Kick. It took him a while, but Booker eventually crawled to the cover, only to get 2, as Edge had his foot under the bottom rope. By this point, Booker was clearly frustrated. He pounded the mat in anger, then got to his feet, and called for Edge to get up, too. Edge slowly did, and for the second time in the match, Edge set him up for the Scissors Kick, but this time, as Booker came off the ropes, Edge bounced off the other set, and went right through Booker with a vicious spear! Edge immediately hooked the leg, and got the final pinfall and the victory! 2nd Fall: Edge (14:37)Edge, visibly drained after such a gruelling battle, got up to his feet, and had his hand raised by the referee. Over in the corner, Booker was using the top turnbuckle to prop himself up. Booker slowly walked into the middle of the ring, and he was met with Edge, who extended his hand for a handshake, which JR described as "A great show of sportsmanship and class from this young man Edge". Booker shook the hand of Edge, only to pull him in, and drop him on his back with the Book-End. JR then said "I spoke too soon. What a blatant display of jealousy by Booker T". Booker left, as the crowd booed him. Kevin Kelly is backstage with Kurt Angle, and Kelly asks Angle what his thoughts are headed into his match with Stone Cold Steve Austin, and how he feels after getting hit with the Stone Cold Stunner not once, but twice in the same night this past Friday night on Smackdown, to which Angle replies.. "What the hell are you talking about? Stone Cold Steve Austin took the easy way out, and cheapshotted me twice in the same night, because that's exactly what Steve Austin is. A coward. And tonight, after I beat him for the second time in a week, Steve Austin is gonna know never to pick a fight with Kurt Angle again. Oh, it's true. It's damn true."Angle leaves. WWF Women's Championship - Jazz vs Trish StratusJazz made her way to the ring to boos from the fans, but the ever popular Stratus came out to loud cheers. The poor reaction from the crowd seemed to only infuriate Jazz, as almost as soon as the bell rang, she ran right through Trish with a clothesline. Jazz treated the champion like a rag doll for most of the early stages of the matches, throwing her around, punching and kicking her. The King asked "Could this be the end of Stratus' title run?", to which JR replied "It could well be King, but you can never count Stratus out, she is loaded with heart and intestinal fortitude". Jazz could be heard yelling "Come on, Trish? What you got? What you got? You ain't nothin'". Halfway through the match, Jazz looked like she was about to put Stratus away after a brutal tree trunk slam, but the champion was just barely able to get her shoulder up before 3. Jazz picked the champ up again and flexed her arms, but she would soon go on to regret it, as Trish took advantage and kicked her in the gut. Stratus then used the ropes for assistance, and came flying off of them with a tornado DDT to Jazz. Trish then looked to keep the offence going, running towards Jazz in the corner and connecting with a Stratus Splash. With Jazz on the defensive, Trish called for her to get up for the Chick Kick, and when Jazz finally got up, Trish went for the kick, but Jazz was able to duck it. Jazz then grabbed Stratus and placed her arm over her shoulders, possibly looking for a back suplex, but Trish pulled off a great counter, by running into the ropes, still holding onto Jazz, and hitting the Stratusfaction for the 3 count to retain her title. Winner: Trish StratusLance Storm and Test vs Tazz and KaneWaving their giant Canadian flag, Storm and Test first made their way to the ring, accompanied by Christian, of course. As they stood in the ring waiting for their opponents, Taz's theme song hit, but he was nowhere to be seen. The lights in the arena flickered off for a second, and unbeknownst to the Un-American's, Kane and Taz were standing right behind them. Kane raised his arms and set off his signature pyro, causing Storm, Test, and Christian to turn around, and giving Taz and Kane the opportunity to go after them. Taz came down on top of Storm with the Lou Thesz Press, and Kane rocked Test with Uppercuts in the corner. Before the bell had even rang, the action spilled over to the outside, with Taz and Storm brawling by the ramp and Test and Kane going at it by the announce tables. Taz launced Storm into the steel steps, causing him to go crashing into them shoulder first, while Kane whipped Test into the announce table and hit him with a shoulder block to the gut. Christian, the third member of the Un-Americans, grabbed the 2X4 that their Canadian flag was attached to, and hit Kane in the back with it, but it did practically nothing to "The Big Red Machine". Kane turned around and met Christian, and all "Captain Charisma" could do was run away, but before Kane had a chance to chase him, Test hit him with a shot from behind, and sent him headfirst into the ring post. As Christian was still backing away, he walked right into Taz, who began hitting Christain with rights and lefts, until Lance Storm came from behind, and smashed Taz in the back of the head with a steel chair. Test threw Kane into the ring, Storm and Christian threw Taz into the ring, and the assault began, with Taz and Kane being dominated by the trio. After a while, William Regal came down the ramp, which solidified any rumours that he'd joined the Un-Americans, but he was stopped halfway down the ramp by Diamond Dallas Page, who span him around and struck Regal right in the head. Page then grabbed the chair that Christian used to attack Taz, got in the ring, and stopped Test, Christian, and Storm from continuing their attack on Kane and Taz. The Un-American's moved up the ramp, as DDP, and a wounded Taz and Kane looked on. Winners: No contest (00:00)Backstage, Chris Jericho can be seen getting ready to referee the main event, when he's interrupted by Vince McMahon. "Chris?"
"Yeah? Oh, hey, Vince."
"Could I have a word with you in private?"
"Yeah.. sure."Jericho leaves. Kurt Angle vs Stone Cold Steve Austin"YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!" can be heard throughout the arena, as Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring. Angle waits for Austin, and as the glass shatters, the sound of cheers from the Millwaukee crowd was deafening. Austin and Angle went after each other immediately, with both men going for the lock up, and Angle gaining the upper hand by transitioning from the front grapple into a headlock, then into a snapmare, and then into a rear chinlock. Angle maintained the upper hand on the ground for a while, keeping Austin on the mat and making sure he didn't get an opening to attack. Angle went for the Ankle Lock after he felt he'd softened up the lower body of Stone Cold enough, but Austin wisely crawled to the bottom rope before Angle had the chance to fully lock in the hold. After Austin crawled the bottom rope, Angle began to stomp on the ankle of Austin, and then wrapped his leg around the ropes, twisting his leg into an unnatural position at the knee. Angle was eventually forced to break the hold after the referee's count of 5, but that didn't stop Angle from picking Austin up and launching him across the ring with a belly-to-belly suplex. Angle then grabbed Austin once more, and threw him across the ring with another belly-to-belly. Angle picked him up and went for a third belly-to-belly, but this time, Austin was able to get out of it, push Kurt away, and hit him with a clothesline. As Angle sat up, Austin came up behind him and locked in a sleeper. Angle reached and tried to get to the ropes, but Austin maintained the hold. Angle was forced to drop to one knee, however, after reaching as far as he could, Angle made it to the ropes. Angle slowly got up to his feet, as did Stone Cold. Austin walked over to Angle, and hit him with a number of strikes, but Angle was able to poke Austin in the eye and push him away. After regaining his composure, Angle moved towards Stone Cold, but Austin was one step ahead, jumped on top of Austin, and rained down the punches with the Lou Thesz Press. Austin stood up and called for Angle to get up too. Angle crawled over and used Austin's legs to help get himself up, but it was a trick, as Angle tripped Austin by the leg and trapped him in the Ankle Lock. Angle pulled and wrenched on Austin's ankle in the middle of the ring, and eventually grape-vined it. The King noted that "If Austin is forced to tap out to Kurt Angle for the second time in a week here, that could be huge for Angle!". Austin, lying on his front and grimacing in pain, used every ounce of strength in his body to roll over onto his back in an attempt to alleviate some of the pressure from the Ankle Lock. Austin stretched his arm as far as it could go, and just barely got his fingers to the bottom rope. "Austin made it to the bottom rope, but that had to take a hell of a lot out of him", exclaimed JR. Stone Cold, now practically on one leg, barely made it to a vertical base. He took a wild swing at Angle, but Kurt easily ducked it. Austin went for another shot, but Angle ducked that one too. Austin went for a third shot, but this time, not only did Angle duck it, he took the arm of Austin over his head, bought him up, and dropped him down with the Angle Slam. Kurt slowly crawled to the cover, but only got 2, as Austin was barely able to get the shoulder up before 3. Angle put his hands on his head, stood up, and pulled the straps of his singlet down, signalling for another Angle Slam. Austin, using the corner to assist him, slowly got to his feet. Angle tried to grab Austin and throw him with the Angle Slam once again, but Austin connected with a punch to the gut, pushed Kurt away, and dropped him on his head with a DDT. Austin, once again forced to use the ropes to get to his feet, got up slowly, as did Angle. Angle struck Austin in the face a number of times and whipped him into the opposing corner. Angle ran over to Stone Cold, but Austin had the wherewithal to kick Angle in the gut and hit him with the Stunner from out of nowhere. Austin cautiously crawled over to Angle, and draped his arm over Angle's chest for the cover. Referee Earl Hebner began the count, but Austin got 2.9, with Angle draping his foot over the bottom rope. Austin rolled over onto his gut, and Angle got up. The camera showed a close up on Angle's face, where his eyes appeared to widen, and he gritted his teeth. The King noted that "It appears Angle is tapping into a second wind". Angle got up, grabbed Austin by the head, and struck him a number of times with punches and elbows. Angle turned around and backed off into the ropes, but as he came back, Austin flipped him the bird and hit a second Stone Cold Stunner for the pin and the win! Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin (17:12)Austin got up, and limped over to the ropes. He climbed to the top ropes, and raised his arms in his trademark pose, but, from behind, Kurt Angle ripped him off to top rope, took him down by the legs, and locked him in the Ankle Lock, pulling and twisting as hard as he could. Hebner tried to pull him off, as did Mike Chioda, Charles Robinson, and Nick Patrick, but they all failed to pull him away. However, to the surprise of everybody in the arena, we heard Chris Benoit's theme for the first time in almost a year after he'd been sidelined with a neck injury. "Kurt Angle looks like he's seen a ghost!" exclaimed JR. Angle frantically ran and tried to escape through the middle ropes, but BENOIT grabbed him by the singlet, pulled him in, and threw him across the ring with a German Suplex. Angle rolled to the outside, as Benoit looked on, and Jerry said "Chris Benoit is back and back with a vengeance!". We're shown shots of Triple H, The Rock, and Chris Jericho backstage, as we get ready for our main event of the evening. A promo hyping the match is shown, and we get things underway. #1 Contender's Match for the WWF Undisputed Championship - Triple H vs The Rock (w/ Special Guest Referee Chris Jericho)Jericho first made his way to the ring, in full referee gear. The Rock then made his way to the ring, followed by Triple H. Both men got good reactions, and the match began with Triple H and The Rock feeling each other out, each trying to goad their opponent into making a mistake. After locking up and switching between holds whilst stood and on the mat for a while, both men broke their holds, and faced off with each other. They locked up once again, this time with Triple H backing The Rock into the corner, with Jericho breaking it up. Triple H got in Jericho's face, to which Jericho responded by pulling on his referee's shirt, almost to tell Triple H "you can't touch me". Triple H then lit up Rocky's chest with a series of Knife Edge Chops, then rolled him away from the corner with a snapmare, and came flying down on Rocky's face with a knee drop. Hunter went for a cover, but The Rock kicked out at 2. Triple H then lifted Rock back up to his feet, whipped him into the ropes and went for a high knee, but Rocky was able to dodge it, and as Triple H turned around, Rock met him in the face with his signature strikes, and went for the big shot, but Triple H was able to duck the shot this time, and Triple H this time hit The Rock in the face with strikes. Triple H stepped back for a second, which would prove costly, as Rock would be able to kick him in the gut and hit him with a Reverse Swinging Neckbreaker. Triple H sat up, and Rock bought him to his feet, and bounced his head off of the top turnbuckle. Rock then held onto the head of Triple H, and bounced his head off the opposing turnbuckle. Rock turned Triple H around, and hit him with a number of punches to the face, but Triple H was able to push him away and connect with a vicious clothesline, taking Rocky right to the mat. Triple H went for the cover, but The Rock was able to kick out. Triple H then bought the action to the mat for the next portion of the match, working The Rock over and wearing him down. After a decent amount of time spent mat wrestling, Triple H got up to his feet and bought The Rock with him. Triple H pushed Rock into the ropes and appeared to be going for a back body drop, but he telegraphed it, and that allowed The Rock to connect with a kick to the face of Triple H and plant him with a spinebuster. Rocky got back up, and called for the People's Elbow. Rock removed the elbow pad and ran into the ropes, but as he came back, Triple H was able to hit him with a Facebuster, push Rock into the ropes, and hit him with a spinebuster of his own. Triple H got up, and signalled that he was ready to end things with the Pedigree. Rocky got back to a vertical base, and Triple H went for the kick to the gut to set him up for the Pedigree, but The Rock caught the boot, used it to pull Triple H closer to him, and hit him with the Rock Bottom. Slowly, The Rock called to the cover, but Triple H just barely kicked out at 2. The Rock got back up and in referee Chris Jericho's face, accusing him of a slow count, and Jericho got right back in The Rock's face, once again pulling the shirt, signifying that he was in charge. The Rock and Chris Jericho continued to argue with each other, until Jericho pushed Rock away. Rock attempted to push Jericho again, but just stopped himself before he caused a disqualification on his part. After wasting some time arguing with Jericho, Rock turned his attention back to Triple H, but it appeared he took too long in doing so, as Triple H was able to capitalise on the tike he had and use it recover. Triple H kicked Rock in the gut, and connected with the Pedigree. With The Rock lying down on his back and a worn out Triple H on his knees, from seemingly out of nowhere, referee Chris Jericho cracked Triple H in the skull with a sickening shot with the WWF Championship. Jericho then threw the titles out of the ring, and began to count, at a somewhat questionably fast speed. Jericho made it to 10, and the match ended in a no-contest. Winner: No Contest (18:56)Jericho stood in the ring, ripped off his referee's shirt, grabbed his Undisputed Championship belts, raised them in the air, and stood above his fallen enemies as the camera faded to black and our show finished. © 2002, World Wrestling Federation.
