Welcome to Mondayyyyyyy Nighttttttttt Rawwwwwwwwww. Vince McMahon introduces Monday Night Raw not long until Wrestlemania. Doc Hendrix and Jerry the King Lawler are at ringside calling the action. The camera pans around the arena as we prepare to get started on what should be an interesting episode of Monday Night Raw. Last week, Shawn Michaels attacked his friend Razor Ramon after Razor’s match with Psycho Sid. Well tonight Razor will have his chance at revenge as he will confront HBK in the ring tonight! What a showdown that’s gonna be! Anyways let’s get to the action as we have our first match of the night.
Our first match was the 1 – 2 – 3 Kid with Ted Dibiase taking on Barry Horowitz who lately has been on a winning streak. Well this match started off at lightning pace with the Kid gaining the upper hand early on with a few hard kicks to Horowitz. Kid delivered a few nice arm drags and almost put Barry to sleep with a sleeperhold, however Horowitz broke out of it and that changed the complexion of the match completely. Horowitz gained the upper hand and during the match hit a nice missile dropkick from the top rope onto the 1 – 2 – 3 Kid. Horowitz only got a near fall though as 1 – 2 – 3 Kid kicked out. The match carried on and it went back and forth for a good ten minutes with some nice high impact moves. In the end though the 1 – 2- 3 Kid got the win with a giant big splash from the top rope after a face jam. What a match to kick off Monday Night Raw!
Raw went to a commercial break but when we came back it was time for Steve Austin to take on Savio Vega. Austin has been on a role as of late and is undefeated in the WWF and this time he had to contend with Savio Vega. Austin gained the upper hand early on by attacking Savio before the bell even sounded, hammering him to the ground and then stomping a mud-hole in him. Austin then completely took control, delivering some hard elbows to Savio’s chest area. Austin looked for a quick pin but didn’t happen. However the tide of the match turned as Vega caught Austin in the jaw out of nowhere with a super kick. Vega hit Austin with some nice heel kicks totally catching Austin off guard. Vega wore Austin down on the mat with various technical holds. Vega had Austin in a single leg hold for at least 2 minutes but eventually Austin escaped. Savio thought victory was near, however Vega missed with a spinning heel kick. Austin quickly capitalized and out of nowhere hit Savio Vega with his new finisher, the Stone Cold Stunner. Vega’s head jammed back onto the mat and Austin picked up the 1…….2……3. Austin still undefeated. After the match, Stone Cold revelled in his victory and challenged somebody in the back to a match next week on RAW. He then proceeded to challenge Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart at Wrestlemania! Austin wants Bret Hart’s answer next week.
After this, it was time for the confrontation between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels. Mr McMahon stepped in the ring to conduct an interview between the two. After they were introduced, HBK straight away went face to face with Razor, telling him that what happened last week was purely business, and that when everybody wants to be the WWF Champion, there are no friends or allies. Razor then snatched the microphone from HBK and said that what Michaels did last week was totally un - cool. He then said that is it ok because Michaels will pay for it at Wrestlemania when the two meet at Wrestlemania for the WWF Championship. Razor then went on saying how history will repeat itself at Wrestlemania. We then went to the video wall with a clip from Wrestlemania X in which Razor defeated Shawn Michaels in a ladder match. HBK straight away took exception to this and stated that lightning does not strike twice and that Razor’s luck had run out and there would no longer be fluke victories over the Heartbreak Kid and that HBK would have his way at Wrestlemania, and will be walking out as the WWF Champion. The two squared up to each other with Vince McMahon in the middle of these two gigantic people, two gigantic ego’s. Razor then threw his toothpick at HBK and tried to leave the ring, however Michaels jumped Razor from behind and hammered away on Razor Ramon. McMahon straight away left the ring, as Razor and Michaels hammered each other back and forth. However it was soon broken up as Big Daddy Cool Diesel, raced to the ring and stepped between HBK and Razor Ramon. If this is anything to go by, what a match it is going to be at Wrestlemania!
As the carnage ended, we went to a commercial break. When we came back it was time for the Tag Team Champions, The Smoking Gunns taking on the New Rockers Marty Jannetty and Leif Cassidy. Billy Gunn started out with Leif Cassidy. Gunn locked up with Cassidy and delivered an arm drag take over into a wrist lock. From here on, Billy Gunn had the advantage, catching Cassidy out with a few nice dropkicks to the face. Cassidy reversed a sleeper hold with an elbow to the gut, and then whipped Billy off the ropes, Cassidy lowered his head and Billy Gunn hit him with a rocker dropper. Gunn went for the cover but only got a two count. Billy tagged in Bart, and the Smoking Gunns double teamed Leif Cassidy and isolated him in their corner. After Cassidy hit a nice looking spinebuster, he rolled over to his corner and made the tag to Jannetty who hit plenty of rights and lefts, seemingly turning the match around. Jannetty then hit a nice dropkick to Bart Gunn. Then Billy came in, and got a back body drop. Jannetty was going crazy in the ring, however the tide turned when Bart Gunn recovered and nailed Jannetty with a diving reverse DDT. Bart tagged in Billy and the hit the side winder from the top rope to pick up the win for the Smoking Gunns.
Directly after this match while the Smoking Gunns were celebrating, a promo aired saying ‘the Heat is coming to the WWF’ wonder what that could be about? The Smoking Gunns looked bemused as we prepared to go to our next match.
Next match was a one on one encounter between Hunter Hearst Helmsley who was accompanied by Mr Perfect taking on Fatu. Well this was a match between two completely different styles of wrestling. Fatu gained the upper hand early on, repeatedly delivering hard right hands to HHH, sending him to the mat. HHH got up, but was met several times with hard body slams to the canvas. Hunter was staggering as Fatu shoulder blocked him into the turnbuckle. Fatu went over to him and rammed his shoulder repeatedly into the ribs of Hunter. On one occasion though it didn’t work and Hunter drove his knee into Fatu, which totally turned the tide of the match. Helmsley looked in control from then on, hitting Fatu with an atomic drop and then a clothesline, knocking him to the mat. Hunter off the ropes drove his knee into the sternum of Fatu and went for the cover but only got a two count. However Fatu turned the complexion of the match around with a few nice uppercuts and hard chops to the chest of Helmsley. With Helmsley seemingly looking in trouble, he gave Mr Perfect a signal to try and interfere. Hunter nailed Fatu in the gut and tried to whip him off the ropes but Fatu reversed it and while Mr Perfect had his back turned, Mr Perfect tripped Hunter! Hunter got up and looked furious, but behind him Fatu clobbered Hunter Hearst Helmsley with a super kick to the jaw. The cover, 1….2…..3! What an upset! Fatu defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley thanks to a mistake from Mr Perfect! Well after the match, HHH looked furious and would not let Mr Perfect accompany him backstage. It was gonna be a long walk back to the dressing room for Mr Perfect.
We then went to a commercial break, but when we came back we saw Jim Ross backstage attempting to interview Owen Hart about the upcoming match he had that would main event against The Undertaker. Owen Hart said that it would be a tough match, but if anybody could win it, it would be The King of Harts. He also told Diesel that he better not stick his nose in this match where it doesn’t belong. Owen Hart also said that he wants to go one on one with Diesel next week but in a non title match.
Well it was time for the main event of Monday Night Raw, between Owen Hart taking on The Undertaker. Undertaker had the advantage early on, as he pummelled Owen Hart down with rights and lefts to the face of Owen. Taker whipped Owen into the corner and proceeded to choke the life out of him as the ref counted the five count. Taker released his grip, however he whipped Owen into the turnbuckle across the other side of the ring, and Owen fell to the ground. Taker looked in control until Owen hit Taker in the gut with a few shots and then a low blow which somehow the referee missed! Hart had Undertaker where he wanted him and hammered away on him in the turnbuckle. Owen pulled Taker towards the centre of the ring and delivered a huge body slam to the 6’’10, Undertaker. Owen posed for the crowd, and then went to the top rope. As Taker was down, Owen jumped and nailed Taker from the top rope with a fine looking legdrop! Taker looked to be out of it but Hart wasted time in taunting the dead man. Hart leaned over Takers body, and Undertaker sat up and got Owen in a choke! Owen Hart looked helpless as Undertaker then tried to lift Owen in the air, but Owen reversed it and took Taker down in an arm bar. Owen held on for dear life, but Taker rolled out of it and took control of Owen. Few stiff right hands to the face, and uppercut and then he whipped Owen Hart of the ropes and caught him with a big boot to the face! Undertaker signalled the beginning of the end, and picked Owen up and went for the tombstone! Taker nailed Owen with the tombstone as Owen bounced off his head. 1…..2……no wait a minute!
Vader climbed into the ring and hit Taker from behind! Vader assaulted the Undertaker, lefts and rights to the head, stomping away on him. Owen recovered and he and James E Cornette held the legs and arms of the Undertaker as Vader bounced off the ropes and delivered a big splash! Incredible impact! Vader then went to the second rope and looked to hit the Vader Bomb when suddenly out came Diesel! Diesel rushed into the ring and cleared house! He nailed Owen Hart with a big boot, right hand to Cornette! He then pulled Vader down and nailed him several times with forearms, dazing the big man. Diesel clotheslined Vader over the top rope as Diesel looked angry and shouted at them if they wanted some more of Big Daddy Cool as Raw went off the air.
Our first match was the 1 – 2 – 3 Kid with Ted Dibiase taking on Barry Horowitz who lately has been on a winning streak.
