The TV nostalgia party continues, and this time Craig T. Nelson is hosting.
No, NBC isn't reviving Parenthood's Zeek Braverman (despite all of our pleas/tears), but they are reviving another classic Nelson character named Coach Hayden Fox.
That's right, Coach is coming back to TV!
The sitcom originally ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1997 and followed the head coach (Nelson) of the fictional Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles as he balanced football and family. This new series will pick up 18 years after the finale when Fox is called out of retirement by his son to be the assistant coach of a brand new team at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania.
NBC has ordered thirteen episodes for now, which Nelson will executive produce along with the show's original creator, Barry Kemp.
No other characters have been cast and no premiere date has been set, but we've already started sending very strong psychic vibes to both Peter Krause and Dax Shepard for whenever the role of Nelson's son is up for grabs.
That's it. I'm done. Now I know why Elvis shot his TV.

Coach was freaking hilarious. I LOVE this idea. There is a lot of story to be told, but Dauber and Luther are musts for returns.

For some reason I thought Jerry Van Dyke had passed away, but I just checked "the Wikipedia" and he's still acting, at least he was two years ago....
So a Luther return is a MUST!
Coach was a funny show! Better than a lot of stuff on these days....
I suspect this will be along the same lines as "Girl Meets World" and focus on the younger people?
Why does a "Coach" return piss you off?

I can't stand Craig T Nelson or Jerry Van Dyke. I just don't find them funny at all.
If they dare to bring back Small Wonder, Just the 10 Of Us or The Facts Of Life, then you'll see me go apesh*t crazy.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Same as if you are tired of Call Of Duty, don't buy it. (Just an example.)
Vote with your wallet/time.

I really liked COACH as a show. However, I can't say that I'm a big fan of all these re-launches and remakes of old shows being done (apparently they're doing a re-launch of FULL HOUSE now too). I mean, sure, sometimes it's cool to catch up with your favorite characters and see them in all new adventures and such. But ultimately, there hasn't been one that's been able to recapture the same magic as the original series. I'll watch the new COACH and I'll hope it's worthy of the original series (really wish they'd get the rest of that on DVD soon), but a part of me kind of wishes they would just let things be as they are.

Everything is coming back! A Muppets return to TV is also being worked on. Muppets retrurn?Out of all my favorite shows, I definitely don't want to see a Cheers return. An old Sam Malone and fat Rebecca is something that would make me shoot the tv. I can't think of anything else I would really oppose.

I never really ever watched it on a regular basis. I maybe watched 15-20 episodes.

I watched it once in a while when TBS had it on in the early morning while I was getting ready for school probably 10-12 years ago. It was an alright show; I might check it out just to see if it's any good.
