The information floating around in the last 24 hours says that Seth Rollins was not informed that he would be winning the WWE Title at Wrestlemania until DURING the segment with The Rock, Triple H, Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon. The only wrestler who knew prior to this point in time was Brock Lesnar. It's unclear as to where in the timeline Roman Reigns found out he would NOT be winning the title, but obviously this is something that WWE had been planning for a while, due to the fact that they had Seth Rollins side plates already made for the WWE Title. Apparently Roman Reigns' family was under the impression that he would be winning the Title, and he did not have a chance to communicate to them that plans had changed and they were shocked when he did not win. Roman Reigns' father, Sika, apparently was very upset after the PPV, getting into altercations with people backstage that almost became physical. This is pretty interesting stuff, but also pretty shady if true that WWE would lead on Roman Reigns and let him believe that he was winning the Title up until less than an hour before the match was to take place. ***Update**** Apparently Roman Reigns was not informed that he would NOT be winning the title until a meeting between himself, Lesnar, and Rollins with Michael Hayes AFTER Rollins was told. This all happened during the Rock segment. www.wrestlezone.com/news/567909-update-on-seth-rollins-wrestlemania-31-win-when-did-rollins-find-out-hed-win-the-wwe-title

Best for business. Rollins winning was much better for business than Reigns. I wouldn't call it shady, it just adds to the element of surprise. Rollins reaction was genuinely shocked, you can't fake that emotion and feeling. Had he known for sometime he probably wouldn't of had that same reaction. Feel for Roman, but his time will come.

You'd have to hope WWE would have informed Reigns and not just left him thinking he's gonna win until an hour before. But at the same time, it is something WWE probably did being that they are total ****s.

I mean they made the right decision, but they should have made their mind up long before the day of and handled it professionally. By handling it that way you put everyone in a bad spot.

Agreed......This is a very clear insight into the way things are handled currently backstage....and IMHO? It aint good.

I'll give Vince a pass for that one. The only way to keep anything a surprise these days is to spring it on everyone at the last minute, including the performers.
I'm a Reigns fan, and I still believe that was fantastic booking and by far the best decision for everyone involved...including Reigns.

In this business no one gets their feelings hurt or they don't belong there. They made the right move so that epic ending didn't get spoiled.

I wonder if Brock was refusing to drop it to Reigns this was the solution? Brock's biggest concern is the money. He wouldn't refuse any order that involves the paycheck of a lifetime.

I remember Val Venis saying in a shoot that he didn't know he was going to win the IC Title until the day of the PPV, and didn't know he was losing it on Raw a few weeks later until he got there that day to the event. WWE I don't think has ever really had any long time plans for title belts since the mid 90s. Once the Monday Night War kicked in, everything was on the fly and clearly it still goes on there even now.

They most likely kept it quiet to avoid it leaking online. This day and age everything gets out, so it's great to be legitimately surprised.

In Bret's book, he found out he was beating Flair the morning of. And found out he was losing at WM9 the day before.

Maybe not last minute, but think back to last year, the main event WAS supposed to be Batista vs. Randy Orton with Batista going over as new WWE Champion. But it got changed weeks prior. And maybe the reason they didn't want to let Roman, and Seth know about the cash in at Mania was because they were afraid of it leaking into the internet and ruining the surprise. We really don't know why it as discussed right before the match happened, only they do.

The term "card subject to change" applies to the crowd and to the talent. It's just the way the business works.
