Ok so I have just received and opened my DM Razor and watched a heap of his great matches to go with it.....so I felt it was time for a thread.
Razor Ramon/ is one of my "guys" alongside Austin, Road Warriors etc. I love going back and watching his stuff and his character was absolute GOLD at the time. His moveset, music, mannerisms the whole magilla was just GREATNESS.
IMO? One of THE most over characters never to hold the WWF title. Loved the way he laid claim to the IC strap from 93-96 as well. has one of THE coolest entrances ever too....as he walked under the ladder at WMX while MSG was going nuts for him. Just suited the character so damn well.
I always thought "this was Razors year for the KOTR" but it never happened despite some close shaves....
I remember in 1996 I could sense he was leaving.......I KNEW Goldust was gonna beat him and when he wasn't on WM12 then got beat by Vader @ IYH: Good Friends...Better Enemies and wasn't on TV for some weeks I knew that was it for the bad guy.
Obviously his return to WCW in 1996 worked out better for EVERYBODY and I was excited as hell to see him jump the rail in may 1996.....but I was kinda sad because I knew for sure RR had departed.
Thoughts on the RR character?

I like Razor Ramon too, I would put him in my top 20 for sure if I was to make a list.
He really did make claim that the IC Title was his and only his from 1993 to early 1996. Once he became a babyface in 1993, he went after HBK and they had some awesome matches on the old WWF Coliseum Video tapes with Razor challenging HBK or vice versa.
I don't think Razor Ramon ever had a bad match either. He was crisp, smooth, and just on point in his matches. I know Ric Flair stated that HBK had a match with a ladder at Wrestlemania X, but f*ck that. Razor Ramon MADE that match with HBK. I don't think HBK could have had a classic with anyone BUT Razor in that style of match during that time frame.
I think Razor Ramon would have been WWE Champion, and it's too bad Vince wouldn't have paid more to keep Scott and Kevin with the WWE in 1996. There probably never would have really been a Monday Night War if they had stayed with the WWE then.
But favourite Razor matches for me are...
Razor Ramon vs. Bret Hart - Royal Rumble 93 Razor Ramon vs. Bret Hart - King of the Ring 93 Razor Ramon vs. HBK - Wrestlefest 94 Razor Ramon vs. HBK - Paul Bearer's Hits from the Crypt Razor Ramon vs. HBK - Wrestlemania 10 Razor Ramon's King of the 94 matches, he was a machine that night, as was Owen Hart. Razor Ramon vs. Diesel - SummerSlam 94 Razor Ramon/123 Kid vs. Diesel/HBK - Action Zone Oct. 94 Razor Ramon vs. HBK - SummerSlam 95 Razor Ramon vs. Dean Douglas - IYH Sept. 95 Razor Ramon vs. Dean Douglas - IYH Oct. 95
He was just over all an awesome talent!

That's funny cause as soon as he lost to Vader I knew something was up. But I couldn't see him returning to wCw after the failed Diamond Studd run. Been wrong before.
Had Razor stayed in WWE I think a WWE championship run was inevitable. He dominated the mid-card and was one of the more popular guys in the company. I always felt Razor Ramon WWE run was far superior to Scott Hall's wCw run. In WWE he oozed cool, in wCw he just seemed like a jackass at times. In wCw You could tell he was trying to be the cool kid who's parents were away for the weekend.

Played his role to perfection. Scott Hall's a great entertainer and he made the gimmick work. I know we got it a ton in the IC Title picture but it woulda been fun to see Razor vs. HBK for the World Title had he not left in '96.

GREAT list man gonna look some of those up later.....and yeah Flair was full of sh*t to say that. He went WAY down in my estimations after that relentless piece of ass kissing crap. @bashcrashwiley .......hell yes he had one of the best punches in the business EVER.

I liked Scott Hall before it was cool. As in AWA. As in five years before I was born... Shhhh

Love Razor. Not enough good words to say about the quality of his work in WWF. Best worker out of the kliq bunch by far.

I loved Razor but disagree that he would have been WWE Champ had he stayed. Hall had too many demons and Vince couldn't trust him. Had Hall been clean I feel he would have been the one to beat Backlund and not Diesel. He was in such bad shape that even WCW wouldn't give him a world title. That says a lot.

Not as much as some, Bret and Nash, but noticably. Probably only the third best in his crew. Michaels, Kid,then him. Michaels was the best worker in the world during this point in time. Proof is in the matches....not even Kobashi or Misawa were doing what Michaels was doing.

I liked Razor, but I had a hard time getting into the gimmick because I previously had already liked him as "Big Scott Hall" in the AWA and as the Diamond Stud in WCW. My favorite incarnation of him was as himself in WCW, but I do appreciate the Razor gimmick and his run.

When I say his 90's stuff was overrated, I'm not saying it wasn't great. Guy could flat out go. I know you feel very differently than I do on tons of wrestlers though.
