Nice to see people are still interested in this Actually, there wasn't so much wrestling stuff for Christmas. Just a John Cena t-shirt and WWE duvet from his grandparents. He now has a massive figure collection, got him the official stage, lots of old school accessories and backstage playset stuff (a big bargain bundle I found on ebay), three belts, Ryback t-shirt, John Cena gear and we've taken him to two wrestling shows now. The only gift that I made this Christmas was converting my grandmother's vinyls collection onto CD (all with printed discs, front and back covers in a nice box). He still plays with the ring and I'll work on a cage for it if he asks for one. Like I mentioned before though, I think cages are restrictive and make it hard to play with the figures (the opposite of fun) particularly for little kids with their short arms. I'll update this thread with any new developments

I'd love to take your money and send you a wrestling ring but making these as one off pieces isn't a realistic approach. Aside from the high cost of materials, it took far longer than I anticipated to make (around five weeks, doing bits almost every night which often entailed spending 3-4 hours to make real progress). The best way that I could do this would be to make them in much greater numbers (meaning I could bulk buy materials and lower the cost) and also outsource some of the work or buy machines to make the job quicker. This way, I might be able to sell these for under £100. I don't think I'd be selling very many with a price tag higher than that. If I get more interest from people wanting to buy them, then I'd look into it but you're the first person to give me an offer that sounds realistic. The other unfortunate thing is that I wouldn't be able to sell these with any WWE logos on or else I'd be a trademark/copyright infringement case waiting to happen. WWE have a deal with Mattell and so I'm sure that they couldn't grant me a licence to make these even if I or they wanted to work out a deal. My advice at the moment would be to begin this project yourself. Like I said before, I have no special skills or tools. It's all about time, persistence and being willing to make parts more than once when things go wrong (hats off to anyone that manages to make one of these without any hiccups!). I started this thread to pass on my 'recipe' for free and I'm interested to see if people use any of my ideas. I'm happy to give advice if people ask I'm really happy that the community here have given me such a positive response on this though, so I thank you all for that. I didn't have any particular expectations (or even if I'd get any response). I made this just with the intention of making my nephew happy but it's really nice to open my email box to find that people are liking what I made on this forum. You guys are serious collectors, artists and animators so to have received such a positive response has been really great If you were to sell them you can claim that you are selling the ring and as a "free gift" you'll include WWE-labeled ring skirts and turnbuckle pads. That should get you past any copyright issues.

That picture of your son (or was it nephew?) is adorable. My parents have tons of pictures of me busy like that.
You should look into indy feds in your area. Your little guy will love it. Granted he won't know who anyone is but you'll get a real close seat -- even front row -- cheap. Plus you can almost always meet the wrestlers before or after the show.

Nice idea but I don't think giving the WWE bits away 'free' would prevent them from making a copyright infringement case. If they're concerned enough to remove YouTube videos, they'll surely be willing to take legal action if I was making these in large quantities that would affect their sales. Large quantities is really the only realistic option because of the time and money it took to make. I'm not convinced that I'd be selling very many of them either, even if copyright infringement wasn't a concern. My honest advice wold be to buy a new Elite ring. Part of the novelty when I made this was that Mattel hadn't released a ring with the new logos. Now they have and they're selling for around the same price it cost to make this. If you really want one like the one I made badly enough, follow my original post and you'll have made one in a few weeks As for indie wrestling, we've taken my nephew to a couple of shows. He met Chris Masters at one of them a few months ago. Look for Phoenix Events Yorkshire on Facebook if you're in the UK. They put on a great show.

That's awesome. Looks about the perfect size as the Elite ring is just way too big.

This is very inspirational. I prefer steel skeletal structure because I'm so used to wood giving in after time (i.e., lopsided wooden chairs) with cardboard or very thin ply wood 5mm. But this is spectacular work.

..Plywood as the canvas. Steel structure would be ideal for a plan in which I could just have roots cover three sides of the ring leaving one side ropeless opening up the ring for hand room to play without interference and the construction would endure usual play without breakage.
